Duff-Man says....I got an email from my reseller in Canada yesterday and he still had no word on when he may expect any 2.5's.....I am trying to be patient still but it gets more difficult each week....luckily I do not absolutely *need* to have it right away, my other Mac's are working just fine...but it wouild be nice.....oh yeah!

I'm with you duff-man. luckily i don't have to have it right away either. but after waiting 9 months for it i'm starting to go mad. sometimes i think that i just can't wait anymore.

but then i tell myself to think how lucky i am to be on the brink of getting the fastest mac ever and it makes me feel a little better. only a little though :)

Whoa, this card has it's own fan too? I thought it was the 9800XT that had this extra fan (with extra noise too). What about the NVIDA's? I think they need to add a suppressor to get rid of the spikes making this a hardware fix. I don't see how it would be a softawre issue.

I've had fans on all my video card since 2000.

Actually I've been told by one G5 DP2.0 user that the 9800XT fan is quiet since it has a large heat sink (the reason ithe 9800XT takes up the PCI slot next to the AGP slot).

uhh... this is total BS. what i did to get a free upgrade to overnight was to call and say i wanted to cancel. then they say, "is there anything i can do to change your mind?" at that point, say that it'd be easier to justify waiting if they at least expedited the shipping. i was in the same position, having had my monitor already shipped to me. they managed to upgrade my shipping, it just took the threat of cancellation. btw, this was with the people who can change orders, not just the person who checks status. they're two separate options on the phone.
 
Mine arrived a little after noon (about an hour ago). I was cleaning my gutters at the time, in preparation for heavy rains and storms forcast for the next few days here. So, I missed pictures of the FedEd delivery lady (but how could anyone top hotshot's?). I've just now unpacked it, and it looks perfect! Once I complete my G4 backups, I'll power it up!

In the meantime, I'll upload my pictures of the grand unwrapping and throw together a quick little web page for them.

I'll post soon with the link.

Can it get any weirder?

So my dual 2.5 G5 order is still sitting at "on or before 8/20" but today I got an email from apple saying that my copy of keynote shipped today. Did I order keynote? No! It just appeared on my order today, they are not charging me for it, and it is on its way via FedEx. I received no message from Apple saying that they were sending me a copy of Keynote for free. Is this their way of softening the blow before tellingme that I have another delay?

I'm totally confused. Anyone else get this? :eek:
 
I more and more guess that people who order via a reseller are punished the most. They are last on the list to receive orders even when they ordered early. And they get NO compensation at all. no free shipping, no free keynote, no discount like some got, nothing, zip, nada..

We can't even call Apple to complain. You feel so helpless...

I wouldn't worry anyways. I can't see anyone getting it overnight from China. The way it looks, it's gonna take a couple of days to get here from China. Just look at the delivery of those that got one already.

I know what you're saying... but if you need something to make you feel better, just think of the hundreds of dollars that you are saving. There is unfortunately a trade-off. We don't get the first shipments, but we get them cheaper - quite a bit cheaper too.

I agree for shipments from China. However, they told me my G5 is assigned to a factory in California, and for California to the east coast the shipping option can make a big difference.
 
g5 recieved. without a keyboard though.

best of luck to all you guys out there. it seems that they are getting into some kind of groove in terms of shipment

Bizarre and not entirely encouraging from a quality-control perspective.

Yes, it's depressing, especially after all the issues they had with ATI cards and Rev. A G5s.

I'm going to get a NVIDIA replacement card and see if they will give me a refund for the downgrade. I don't do any gaming and my 1.8Gh worked great with it, so I'll be happy. That fan reving from the ATI card is annoying.
