Doubt you'll be happy because you probably won't get your computer on Saturday. Apple won't arrange Saturday delivery. Believe me...I tried and tried and they said no way. In any event, Happy Birthday!!!
You were right Houston. Shipping info is coming up from Fed Ex that Arrival is on Monday. It's going to be a long weekend! Thanks for the well wishes.

I'm hearing the same thing from the Apple Store I had planned on using to purchase my "switcher" Mac. They told me yesterday they don't think they will get any Dual 2.5s for at least 2 weeks. I'm glad I broke down and ordered online on the 9th! I really wish they would get these machines out. My P4 workstation has already been dismantled for parts!

Just spoke to a woman from my reseller. She know thinks that it will be a least another 2 weeks until they have any G5's of any kind!

This can't be right. I'm starting to think that there is actually little point in going to a reseller. Too late now thought. Waiting for confirmation of this from my usual rep via email.

Has anyone actually received a 2.5 from a reseller yet?

Before you get too upset at ordering from a reseller, please remember that there are still a lot of people who ordered direct from apple on 6/9 that still have no shipment notification and no computer.

I have a feeling that within 2 weeks we will (early orderers that is) all be very happy on our new 2.5s

Finally!

After some patience, it has finally gotten here. I am understanding of the pain of waiting, I think we all are. I just hope that Apple can figure out how to support its fanatic customer base and get its great product to market in a timely fashion in the future. If they ever have hopes of growing, inventory and product management MUST be fixed.

On a lighter note, the machine FLIES! I only have 1 gig of ram and 1 of the 250 gig hd's in it right now, but the other gig of ram and other hd show up on Tues. It is amazingly quiet compared to my horrifically loud pc. The only time its spinned up for me is on software installs when its optimizing the drive or when I go get the list of internet radio stations out of iTunes. It's just purely an amazing machine. I took pic's of it and my PB as I unpacked it and whatnot.

BTW: I am a Dir of Educational Technology and the order was placed through the school via Apple's EDU system. That's probably why its already here. We are also an Apple district as well, and I'm a "switcher" going on two years. :)

The wait is worth it, trust me.

Ive been speaking to Bryyken and he has said he is having some SQL problems. With his permission I have decided to move on the system a little bit, and built a new site devoted to tracking our G5s.

Its about 75% complete right now, and ready enough for people to start adding their order information.

http://powermacs.plasticated.com

Functionality to be added (today hopefully).

Ability to view each persons configuration.
Ability to edit your order information.
Ability to write a review of the machine when it arrives.
Ability to upload a gallery of photos of the machine.

I know people have uploaded pictures and written reviews on the board already, but it will be great to get all this info onto 1 site. When that happens I think we will have a great resource!

Sorry to ask people to input the same data twice, but I think it will be worth it :)

Wow, I am speachless. This is great.

I can't get it to work though I get this error message

"Column count doesn't match value count at row 1"

Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry, buggy code. Just fixed it now, should be working ok.

After a few types of people have been added, that graph will start working properly.

Could I ask that even if your mac has already arrived, you add your data in. Soon you will be able to add a review and photos of your machines.

Wow, thats a pretty impressive site. Thanks to all you guys who are creating this tools to track our much anticipated machines - its a great way to pass the time and avoid insanity.

One suggestion, since i've ordered from a reseller, i've never officially been given a shipdate (other than various hints and suggestions). Would it be possible to add a checkmark to the estimated ship date, or give a N/A option.

Otherwise, beautiful work.

Good point. I have added a text note about that. I wont show that data on the view order page if its from a reseller. Cheers

Can you just copy/paste the data from my spreadsheet? I have a very hard time believing that another database built from scratch will have as much useable data as this one has in it. But if the data from mine could be transferred and you can add reviews & pix that would be fantastic!! --E

Just got off the phone with CulbMac. They said that they are expecting a shipment big enough to cover all of their backorders by 8/20. Seems like next friday is turning out to be a big day for all of us.

[crosses fingers yet again!]

The main problem in entering information on behalf of someone is you need to choose a password for them. I dont have email info for any of the people to send them their details. Also, although I am sure you understand how to ready your spreadsheet, i find it really hard to decode?

Well, at least you boys who ordered from resellers...

I agree. We needed that site way before I started tracking orders myself . However, there is a TON of data in my spreadsheet including country, date of shipment notification, estimated ship date, arrival date, whether that person took pix or not, country ordered from, what type of order (EDU, ADC, EDUS, RESELLER), and of course order date and configuration including if the machine was going to be loaded with extra software. There are currently 150 orders being tracked on that spreadsheet. Right now its the most accurate and complete thing we have.

If someone can transfer all that data into Gecko HD's site it would truly be incredible. The problem I see is that a lot of people come here to post, but don't add their info to brykken's database even when its up & running so there's a lot of data missing.

Did they give you a date?

This spreadsheet Has the most complete and accurate data we have or orders at this point. Just hit command-F and type in "resel" and you can find all the orders ordered through resellers. I can tell you that no reseller orders have come in yet based on that sheet. GeckoHD has built a second interactive online database, but we need to get all the data from mine into his. --E

Cancel order?

I'm thinking of cancelling my order. I could send back the 23 inch Cinema Display which has been waiting for the 2.5 DP to catch up since 6/11. I could reorder the 23 inch display and a 2.0 GHz DP Mac from Apple Specials and save a $grand and a half. What do you think?

Terrific Site!

Here, here. Excellent work GeckoHD!

Thanks also to solo-act and brykken for their time and effort. Kudos to all of you.

Did you see the legend to the right of all the order data? It explains almost everything you need to know about what has been entered. It contains explanations for every abbreviation used in the configuration column. That way I could fit country, order type, reseller, and all configuration data into a very small area. Anyway, at the top of the page there are columns for each area of data (order date, configuration, name, arrival date, est ship date, date of ship notification). If there's anything unclear please tell me and I can try to help. --E
