I AM REALLY SORRY EVERYBODY.

I just moved the database and erased everybodies data. About 8 people had entered their data into the system

Could you please enter it again.

Also, does anyone have some time they could dedicate to manually entering the data from Solo's spreadsheet into my system? Needs to be someone that understands his system.

Please email me on shealan at gmail.com if you are up for the job?

Update: I have made some small changes, like adding Government discount to the seller. If there are any other changes you see need to be made, please let me know. Thanks!

I've been lurking and following the thread. Here's my info:
ordered: 6/10 ~5am PST
from: Apple online, not ADC or EDU or anything
ship date: 8/2 changed to: 7/30 changed to: 8/20 where it remains
CTO items: 9800XT, Bluetooth, Airport extreme card, all else is stock
shipping: bestway

I've called the store a couple times and have been offered NO compensation for delays or for the fact that people who ordered after me have gotten delivery and/or shipping notices.

I've also talked to a Apple corporate person who says they would personally check into my order and try to make sure it's moving along in order. That person, on Monday, said there should be an 'update' of info to me this week. I haven't heard anything yet though.

I do believe that Apple is working as hard as possible to fill orders, but that something got screwed up. My main worry is that the supply of cpus is tight, and possibly other parts, thereby causing intermittent delays from week to week. Fill a few, collect inventory, fill a few more, collect inventory, and so on. Instead of taking each person's order, in the order it was placed, and gathering the parts and beginning assembly and then stopping to wait for one missing part (or two or three), I have this feeling they did something else. Namely, I think they have been building machines willy nilly, and then looking to see what order a particular configuration could be used to fill. That system (ugh!) has made some of us unlucky and others lucky.

I have no information that this is the system they used, but it could explain the out of order shipments we've seen. So, Apple has been favoring getting machines shipping as quickly as possible, rather than strictly going by order date.

Did they give you a date?

Nope - they said as soon as they get it (hopefully 8/20) they will just slap in the ram and turn it ship it back out. So if they do get shipment on friday, I should hopefully have it sent out friday.

Honestly, this is the same thing that's been happening since the middle of July. It seems like every week apple pushes it back a week. But given other's emails from apple directly, I have a good feeling about next friday.

I'm thinking of cancelling my order. I could send back the 23 inch Cinema Display which has been waiting for the 2.5 DP to catch up since 6/11. I could reorder the 23 inch display and a 2.0 GHz DP Mac from Apple Specials and save a $grand and a half. What do you think?

Is the G5 needed to do some work right now... ie. is some business suffering because you don't have it? Do you need the G5 right now for other reasons? If you don't need the G5 right now, I'd wait. G5 DP2.5's are being delivered and it looks like Apple is ramping up manufacturing slowly - it sounds like there are now 3 plants manufacturing the G5 DP 2.5's instead of only 1. So if they don't have it out by 8/20/2004, it shouldn't be more than a few days after that.

Also, I think I've heard there are also delays with the DP 2.0's. See http://www.thinksecret.com/news/0408channelinventory.html

I think that you should wait for the 2.5 to arrive. You have waited this long, what's a few more days. Apple is doing the best that it can. You will forget all about the wait when it arrives.

Ive been speaking to Bryyken and he has said he is having some SQL problems. With his permission I have decided to move on the system a little bit, and built a new site devoted to tracking our G5s.

Its about 75% complete right now, and ready enough for people to start adding their order information.

Thanks to you and Bryyken for your efforts - much appreciated!

Still no word...

Although I knew in my heart Apple wouldn't ship me anything any time soon, part of me hoped I would have heard something today. Hopefully just one more week!

For those of you who got the BT keyboard and mouse... how is the battery life? And do you know of any multibutton, scroll wheel alternatives?

First of all a big thumbs up and thank you to solo-act, Bryyken and GeckoHD.

Secondly, I just received yet another email from Apple saying something along the line: "We want to reassure you that we still plan to ship your order on or before 08/20", well, we'll see soon enough.

cheers.

Nice job Kathy, it looks very professional. Although it is missing order dates and whether it's stock nor not. ;)

Okay. Now, each username is linked to a page that displays their exact order details.

Quite interesting to see everybodies configs.

I notice a lot of people havent bothered with Applecare. You are very trusting considering the liquid cooling is a new technology for Apple ;)

MacConnection Still Nothing

I have just called MacConnection...I am "supposedly" either 1st or 2nd in line for the 2.5GHz unit, according to the salesperson back in June, and reconfirmed in July. Today, the salesperson told me that they are expecting shipment on 8/27. Then she said that they did get a limited few in.... but later contridicted herself by saying they never got any 2.5GHZ units in at all. If they have never got a single unit in, I would not be pissed at all...but if they did, and I got skipped over...then that would be really messed-up.

Anyone got any other info or actually got a 2.5GHz unit from MacConnection?

MacConnection and the 2.5 GHz G5

I also was told 8/27 and I ordered 7/15. They told me that there will be enough arriving that day to fill all backorders. I was also told they would ship them out the same day. That would be quite a busy day for them, wouldn't it?

I really really really really wanna have post nr. 3000!

But there can be only one winner!

Apple! What a Maroon!

I am so pissed off right now. I have just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Apple. I have been going faithfully every day to check my order status (as most of you have) for the new ship date of August 20th... knowing that it will most likely be pushed back again. And as I look over to the side, I see that the suite number is wrong.

So I call. the first woman was very nice, but she never offered me anything like some of you have said about Keynote or Final Cut Express. I told her that the address was wrong, and she said that she could not help me, that she had to transfer me.

The new girl came on and said that it was impossible to change the suite number. She wanted to know if I could go and tell the people in the suite that it was coming and to accept it. "No! The suite is empty." "Well could you go wait then when it ships?" Excuse me?!? I run a business. I cannot believe that she would tell me to go wait there for FedEx. How long? All day?

So I asked for a supervisor. He gets on the phone and says that there is nothing he can do. It will go out to the wrong suite.

I said I could believe that you would ship something to the wrong suite, and he said, "well that the way it was entered!" The same thing happened with the monitor I said. I saw that it was going to the wrong address, and called FedEx. They said I had to call the shipped. So I called Apple and they said that they would take care of it. They took care of it alright! He said that there were no notes on my account of that event ever happening. "So I am a liar?" Ugh!!! I wanna scream!!!

I am so wanting to cancel this damned thing. It has been a nightmare putting your business on hold for 2 months, selling my other computer in belief that my computer was going to be shipped on 7/27... then having to work on an iMac to finish my projects.

Just had to vent guys.

Uh if the suite is empty, just leave a note on the door for the fedex guy saying "deliver to office"

when he does, go to the office and say "my name's on that package"

Hey, we've got 3 months to see if it's necessary! ;)

But seriously, I reckon I'll be getting it before the year is out.

I feel for you Kneecap. That's what I'm saying: I can't believe that Apple has not automatically offered some kind of compensation across the board...ANYTHING (discount, expedited shipping, extra ram, etc.) for postponing shipments of the G5's time and time again. From what I can tell, there are numerous people out there whose livelihood is dependent on the shipments of these machines.

Apple can change shipping information

When I ordered my G5 I wanted it to be shipped to work , 1. So I was there when it arrived. 2. To demo it to all the PC devotee's at work :D

However , I wanted to order the Logitehc Z680 speakers to go with it and phone apple to order them a couple of days later (since Apple were cheaper than anywhere else) , and guy I spoke to at Apple UK pointed out that I would be chased by Apple Finance because my ship address for the G5 was different to my credit card address and this might delay shipping. So I asked him to change it back to my home address which he did.

So they should have offered you the same.......

Must admit , it hasn't made my G5 ship any quicker , ordered on the 11th June and still waiting like most of us it would appear !

In the sales profession that behavior is referred to as TAFTING. That means you Tell them Any F**ing ThING to get the sale or keep the sale. --E

I just got another email, the second one in a week, from the apple store reassuring me that my g5 is gonna ship by the 20/8.
I've gotten NO reassuring emails at all. Apple's consistency is mmm, er, ah ... inconsistent.
