Got mine today!

As far as I know, no reseller has gotten any machines, so the answer would be "no"..

I ordered mine on June 9 through my employer, who is a reseller, and I just received it today. (I'm typing this post on it right now. :)

The Windows guys in the office begged me to take it out of the box so they could check it out. "Go ahead boys, you can look all you want-- cause she's going home with me!"

Bet yours ships next week. Being ordered in June and moved to September 20th means Apple has moved manufacturing site to expedite build. That's exactly what happened to me and mine will be delivered Monday, after shipping August 11th. My ship date was originally 7/30, then 8/20 and finally 9/21 or before ship date. Good Luck!

I, like a few other people here, have been following this forum for a long time and yesterday, I finally decided to take the plunge and order myself a dual 2.5 ghz G5. I like to shoot and edit movies in my spare time and I soon realized my iMac DV 400mhz wasn't going to keep up with processor-hungry stuff in Final Cut Express. After a particularly excruciating night of rendering effects for over two hours, I reluctantly decided to get a new computer. I first decided to go with a new eMac. Then an iMac. Then a G4. And finally, a brand-spankin'-new G5. I have become a dedicated fan of Macrumors after spending many a late night combing the rumors and forums for any information on the G5. After seeing the wait time on everybody else's orders, I decided to go ahead and purchase the G5. The cost of the G5 basically ammounts to a year's salary of working in a toystore when I wasn't in school or sleeping. That was easy; caffiene does wonders. The hardest part is waiting for my baby to arrive on that beautiful white truck.

Duff-Man says...well at least the wait times have decreased by a week or so at the online apple store, and more than likely they'll now start picking up the pace even more as IBM starts supplying more chips....be patient (like me) and enjoy it when it arrives....oh yeah!

Cant... wait... longer...

Like others, I'm sure, I am now sitting at my desk typing on my humble pismo, staring at the behemoth of a 23" HD Display but with _nothing_ to hook it up to.

Reminds me of that twilight episode...

I'm staring at:

- A 17 inch KDS monitor
- JBL Invaders
- 1GB Ram OWC Upgrade
- Kingston Mouse
- MacSkinz Etched Clear G5 side panel

But, no computer! :D

Resellers That are Great!!:)

Well, As far as resellers go..I have a great one! The Mac Store in Tigard Oregon..just over the hill from Portland about 8 minutes. They always treat me right and I got my G5 2.5GHZ today with the 2-250 GB HD's and 2 GB of ram. I ordered only on July 17th and I prepaid the order. I traded in my G4 Dual 1.25GHZ for 850.00 and that was fine with me. I did not need to order Bluetooth so I just had them put the HD's in at the store and they bought back the original smaller HD that came with the G5. The two HD's were the 7200rpm Hitachi drives which are the same vendor that apple uses to supply them with their HD's for all G5's. I got some better HD's for that reason which Hitachi makes and they have a better individual warrantee than the one year on the HD's that apple installs OEM.

Hope this gives hope to all of you out there that have resellers. I do avoid places like Mac ...i.e large mail orderplaces etc. for the simple reason that they promise alot, but never are there for the long term. The reseller I use is a division of PowerMax in Portland/Lake Oswego Oregon.

Have to get back to copying files over to the new desk about 150GB to go.

Cheers,

G

Duff-Man says...nice going...yeah, that gives some of us hope....I think you are the first one here to get one from a reseller...oh yeah!

I'm in the same boat. But as I have said here before, I care about quality more than speed.

Reading the issues people are having with the new 23" and the problems with the 1.8 G5, Apple can take their sweet time if it means I get a quality Mac. This baby needs to last me for a very long time.

I feel fortunate that I think I got an OK 23" display. (Or so I think.) As long as I get a solid 2.5 PM, I'll be cool.

Plus, the waiting adds to the fun for me. I like the anticipation.

Which reseller???

Which reseller do you work for? Is it local or a mail order reseller?

Read the discussion groups under the support tab on Apple.com.

But, as a caveat, remember that things there generally seems worse than reality. People only go there when they have problems.

For example, my 23" screen is amazing. None of the color shifting or pink hues that some people are facing. (Knock on wood.)

It's a great site, and have entered my data as well, but wouldn't it be handy if we could see the expected delivery date as well?

Or is there still some work to do?

Btw : I forgot to add my applecare and screen, but can't update my stats

Begging FedEx

My G5 is scheduled to be delivered on Monday but I just can't stand the wait. I know its only a couple of miles from my house at a manned FedEx facility (its a consumer dropoff center and sorting facility combined). What do you think my chances are of them plucking my order if I show up in person? It would be great to get it while I actually have time to spend with it over this weekend.

I still have the est. shipping date for Aug 20th. That is a week away. Am I excited? No.. because personally.. I don't think they're going to meet that date for me. I have not recieved any comfirmation emails... no nothing. I think I have been rather patient with the order so far. I find it really irritating to wait so long.
I agree with those who said that this is just a computer.. a toy... so just relax.. a couple of weeks isn't going to kill me. However, my complaint with Apple is their HONESTY. It is a moral value which goes beyond the product they are offering me (in my opinion). Even if it is as small as a pencil, I think HONESTY is very important. If my computer is going to be delay 1 month... fine.. tell me that then. Don't tell me it's going to be delayed 2 weeks... then.. again tell me that it's going to be delayed for another 2 weeks. Another thing that really fustrates me is that they notified me that my computer isn't going to be shipped the day before their est. ship date. Like what others have said, these computers are not built overnight and OBVIOUSLY Apple knew well ahead of time that the majority of these customers are not going to be recieving any machines. Why couldn't they do a better job at notifying their customers. We didn't order these pre-production machines for no reason and I think they should keep us better informed on the situation of our machines.
I am a pc-mac switcher.. and this is going to be my first mac and despite the fact that i have yet to recieve my machine, my experience so far with apple could not be worse. I am a very dissatisfied customer. I feel especially stupid for ordering a machine in June when I could just wait until september and buy one in a store (the computer shop in my university usually carry them.. as we recieved three 2.0ghz g5s in Aug last year while other resellers were waiting for them). It is the feeling that you ordered a machine 2 months before anyone else.. but getting it the same time as those who walked into a store and bought one. Who would not be disappointed to know that being one of the first ones to order the machine was of no use?
Well... Apple has already delayed once. If they delay my shipment again... I might as well cancel my order. If i cancel my order, I probably won't buy anything from apple for a long time. There's no point cancelling my order and ordering a 2.0ghz. So.. if they lose my order.. they lose this customer (me). Being a switcher... I don't feel that I'm missing out too much.. there are still more games.. more software.. and more hardware to play around with on the PC platform. Getting an Athlon 64 (I was deciding between the a64 and the mac).. PCI express and etc. would still be cheaper than my current Mac setup.
For those who disagree with my opinion, please understand these are the words of a very fustrated customer.

I think that they would release the package to you if you have an ID that shows your name at the shipping address. You could call first, and maybe they'll have it ready to pick up once you get there.

Haha, thats the monitor this thing is replacing... for some reason its firmware got fried and no computer can tell what its name, make, frequency limits, or resolution limits are.

Good display though, it's held up since 2001, now im giving it to my mom.

Hopefully we'll get our machines soon!

LOL.

The first KDS LCD I tried didn't work, so I sent it back and they gave me the all-new 2004 model. It's a "Radius" model.

In addition to what's been delivered and when, you can view 78 estimated shipping dates here, and the list happens to be sorted by expected delivery date. If anyone wants to get those transferred to GeckoHD's list that would be great too. In fact, I need a link to his in my signature.

We're up to 23 confirmed arrivals with two actual reseller orders coming in. Thought I'd throw out a drop of water in the desert of new good news. Where's those shipping emails or excited shipping announcements?

--E

There are STILL 40 "on or before" Aug 20 orders BEFORE mine. Even with the recent shipping announcements and arrivals this last week. Why? Because I keep getting messages to add or change orders, and it keeps putting someone in FRONT of me. (where's the crying smiley?)
