I have added the estimated shipping date on the page as requested.

Great Job! :) But I noticed that it is showing the original shipping date of 7/30, which has long since expired & should probably list the updated shipping estimate. (Which seems to vary from person to person btw.) I can't review or edit the info but I seem to remember entering both dates.

I have your est date as 8-20 on this excel spreadsheet. --E

Yes, that is correct, but I was referring to GeckoHD's site & the estimated ship date posting.

You're (edit typo here!) all doing a great job tracking the info & trying to make sense of, All that's Apple!, happenings.

Trying to patient, Damn! (Can I say that)

:D

I wasn't sure & didn't want to say anything out of line.
I've been observing this site for quite some time, looking for shipping info & perhaps early reviews. So far it has been a lot of waiting & of those ones lucky enough to have already recieved their 2.5's, I've seen great reviews & some which give cause for worry.

Here's hoping they get here soon! (Healthy & all accessories included!) :D

Folding@home for Team Mac OSX

You guys won't believe how much the G5 rocks. I've since installed Folding@home to help out with the Protein Folding project and I've been cruising past members. My G5 is running the program 24/7 and I never heard a single complaint from the machine. Every now and then I hear the Fans spin up, but those are obviously the video card fans that come into action when I use the computer, too. If I leave it alone, pure silence.

Just thought I'd share this experience while the others are waiting.

Careful, you might be making some enemies with a post like that - people can get quite jealous and envious when someone else has something that they don't have yet... ;)

Oh, Gawd! I hope not. I know these fellow forum members already and they know the problems I encountered when I received the G5. Oh, wait...I feel like someone is stabbing me in the back - literally....

I'm VERY lucky and extremely pleased to have received my Dual 2.5GHz G5. At least mine was ordered VERY early (6:36AM PST on 6/9/2004 from the online Apple Store), so I don't feel quite as guilty that I've received mine while so many others are still waiting...

Given that, would you all here like me to post impressions of my Dual 2.5GHZ G5 and such from time to time?

BIG SPREADSHEET UPDATE 8-14

I figured I wouldn't have any significant new data today, and I was feeling lazy to do my daily guitar workout, so I did a significant update to the spreadsheet adding some stuff I've wanted but didn't have time to do.

I've limited the spreadsheet to orders placed by the end of July. GeckoHD's database picks up where mine leaves off.

If your monitor is at least 768x1024 on a single page you can now see:

50 orders with: order date, configuration, name, arrival date, est ship date, ship notification date. The total # of orders is 169.

Shipping breakdown with stats & mini Pie: You can get %ages just by hovering mouse over the pie pieces of the mini or the big pie. The big pie is on its own tab that you can click at the bottom.

Latest news clips: Significant late breaking news.

Extended configuration legend: Each abbreviation has related comments attached (little red triangle in corner of cell). Just hover the mouse over the cell, and you can learn if that configuration item is delaying orders.

Miscellaneous comments: Just look for the red triangles and hover the mouse to see comments.

Enjoy- I'll see everyone on monday. Anyone that wants me to change anything just drop me a line. I'm hoping for things to get VERY exiting in a few days. --E

Yes.

Mine have been delivered to work, can't have a play with them for at least a week – c'mon, whet our appetites... you little tease, you :)

I would appreciate some games's benchmarks like Call of Duty, Halo, Jedi Knight and/or RTCW. All at high settings at 1280x1024. ;-)

My status

Well, I check my apple order status and had an "action required". I have to wait until Monday for my bank to raise the debit limit. But, at least there is action.

I think once I get the transaction to go through, my G5 will ship next Friday. Of course it would get here until the 23rd or 24th.

But at least its a small step forward.

Good for you LeonPro. Your news is indeed encouraging. The story just help to make the wait for others more bearable. Thank you for folding.

My Thoughts...

4 Possible Scenerios for next week...

1. Apple received the supply of chips from IBM on Friday or Saturday. Computers will be built over the weekend and during the week with shipments starting on Monday and continuing throughout the week. (likely)

2. Apple has received the chips and will ship the computers on the 17th or 18th so people will have them by the 20th. (possible)

3. Apple will receive the chips on the 17th or 18th with MASS shipments for the 8/20 orders on Friday. (probable)

4. Apple will further delay the orders till 8/31. :( (please don't happen)

i promise im not meaning to be bitter; but doesnt it piss people off when you hear of someone finally getting their 2.5 G5s and folding@home 24/7?

personally i need my G5 asap, as a matter of rent.

people who bought their machines to fold all day are volunteering for a good cause, but seem to be using the two and a half grand computer for fun rather than necessity.

i realise i sound like a prick, but i cant help it when deadlines come crashing down around my ears.

much respect to everyone here...

Well i just hope Apple ships my computer out ASAP, as i am leaving for school on 8/21. Est ship is 8/20. As the computer is shipping to my home, it will cost me $120+ to ship 2 day to school so i can have it for the start of school. So i am really hoping it will be shipped on monday for the arival on Fraday. if not apple will be recieving another phone call from me stating i hope they plan on paying my shipping costs as they would not change my shipping address.

Ive been getting the same message as of late.

It just means their SQL timeout is too long... they should revise their code so they dont have to keep flushing the connections

now stop talking about this here, its offtopic.

Not everyone uses a computer for work, alot of people use it for play - but in this case I'd say he's using it for valuable research. Frankly I don't care what they use it for as long as they appreciate what they have.

Yeah, a friend of my dad's was going to buy a G5 back in the spring, he said he wanted the Dual 2.0Ghz tower, and I asked him what he was doing... after telling me how he'd be using Office and the web I told him to save his money and buy a 1.6.

But the sad truth is that a load of 2.5MP's will be used for nothing more than that due to uninformed buyers.

Hell, for using Office and the Web you should have told him that an iBook or an eMac would have been more than adequate! ;)
