The camera is not a high priority item on a tablet. Regardless it still has the best camera of any tablet on the market.

Apple likes profit? WHAT A SHOCKER!!!! I can't believe Apple likes profit! I thought they were a charity all this time!
[doublepost=1459776941][/doublepost]

Let me re-phrase it for your sarcastic side, Apple likes OBSCENE profit margins at the expense of lack of features. Does that sound better? Yes it's a tablet, it's also one of the most expensive tablets on the market, It costs the same as high end full blown Windows tablets. So there was no excuse for Apple to not put OIS in it's camera other than to increase profit because it's just as pointless to put a high end iPhone camera into a tablet as it is to not put OIS in that tablet.

It's not necessarily always whether or not you "need" a feature, it's the fact that you are buying a top-tier, state-of-the-art smartphone (and paying a premium for it, mind you). When you buy a brand new smartphone, you shouldn't be missing out on features right out of the box.

Plus, low light performance is already below the competition. I was hoping the dual camera system would leapfrog Samsungs's camera, but I guess all companies, including Apple, eventually follow the Microsoft/Nokia/RIM trajectory.

First: It WILL be thinner.

I'm starting to think... That it won't.

For the first time ever thinner won't be the selling point. Reason being... With the recent releases of the 9.7" iPP & IPhone SE.

Apple just released practically the same hardware with better eternals. There has been some leaks of cases for the new iPhone 7... And signs point to the same dimensions.

I don't think there will be any radical changes until they bring along AMOLED screens. Only thing radical about the iPhone 7 will be omitting the headphone jack.

OBSCENE profit margins?

Really?

Google has a higher profit margin than Apple.
Microsoft has a higher profit margin than Apple.

Apple's profit margins are about 22% the last 3 years.

So for every $1 of sales Apple get 22 cents of profit. That is NOT obscene IMO.

The camera was already better in the plus (OIS), so this comes as no surprise.

But lets hope it is standard after all, and we also don't get an iPhone 7 Pro Plus model, to convolute Apples model listings even more... :S
That is exactly what I was thinking. I don't want to be charged another 100 bucks for the dual camera.

Make home button pill shaped and you can easily shave a few mm off from bottom and top. The side bezels should also be smaller. No improved technology needed there.
So Apple should spend time and money re-engineering Touch ID to fit a pill shaped home button (a home button that is about as iconic as you can get in a product) to shave a few mm off the top and bottom bezels? That's ridiculous. There are patent applications that indicate Apple is working on imbedding the home button/Touch ID into the screen. Don't change anything until you can radically change it IMO.

I doubt that, remember the latest expensive iPad Pro does not have OIS, and it's a 9.7" tablet! No excuses for lack of space. They literally just took the iPhone 6S camera and stuck it in, when they could have just as easily have taken the 6S Plus camera and put it in, yes it's a tablet and not many will take photos with them but if you're selling a device as a top end maximum specced 'Pro' device, then surely you would put your best camera in it too?
Apple likes profit too much, I would be very surprised if you see OIS in the non Plus iPhone.
it is not about space. It is about differentiating a flagship model

So the support for a rumor started by Ming-Chi Kuo is more Ming-Chi Kuo?

Best post so far. And LOL at all of you who are having a titty attack based on a rumor from this guy.

Also having a good laugh that people are still throwing fits because Apple doesn't design a phone based on their own personal use case.

I'm thinking the same thing. But if Jobs was still around he would've said to figure out how to make it work or don't use it at all. I don't believe that fragmentation is something he wanted.

And... If Henry Ford was still around we wouldn't have Ford automobiles available in different models, sizes, features, and available options sets. And his cars would likely still be available only in black.

I wonder if people still complain about that on Ford auto forums?

Both the 7 and 7+ are the flagship model.

The Plus cost more because it has a larger screen.

Because the Plus has more volume/size of course it can fit more hardware.

So what would you rather Apple do? Just get lazy and have Apple do nothing if the additional space in the Plus models?

Why not pack a phone with the maximum amount of hardware it can fit?

Again this is like grumbling that a tiny subcompact car like a HondaFit can't have a large V8 engine.

Bigger phone has more hardware. No duh. Big deal.

This is like people expecting a huge V8 engine in a subcompact car.

You can't expect a sub compact car to have an engine as large as a full sized car.

Same with phones. A large phone just has way more room to put more hardware.

iPhone 7 Pro - 5.5 inch screen, 32GB, dual camera's $750
iPhone 7 - 4.7 inch, 16 GB, single camera $650

I see no problem with this lineup
Seems to be like there is a opening for 2 price points on the iPhone Plus

dual camera $100 + normal Plus price
single camera Normal Plus Price.

Not sure I would like that kind of price break.

Glad to see so many people passing on the 7 plus. Should make my yearly iPhone upgrade a breeze.

Or people expecting quad-core processors in a 13" rMBP. Apple has long put higher-end hardware in larger Macs for cooling/space reasons as well as a selling point to encourage people to upgrade, this is just making its way to iPhones now.

and on the eve of such a move they release the SE

The SE release was just a tip of the hat from Apple... Giving users who preferred the 4" iPhone something to have.

For those that gets the SE have already declared they preferred comfort over features... The best features will always be on the flagship iPhones.

I have the 6S Plus and cannot go back to a smaller phone. I love the size of this.

You guys do realize that the screen on this new phone can be bigger, yet the phone can be smaller than the 6S Plus right?

Apple can remove a lot of the top and bottom bezel.

Your logical commentary is not welcomed here.

Not allowed because it's not logical. If you want to go down this path, then go measure the difference in camera module sizes and calculate how much of an increase in phone body size would be necessary to fit the increased camera, even assuming nothing else can shrink. Same for 3D Touch, new CPU, etc.
Unless you have numbers to support your contention, you aren't being logical, you're just being a trolling fanboy.

If this rumour is true. And if the reason is space restraints. I am happy with Apples decision to use the new technology in the 7+. If they had held back until the technology could be used in both sizes, and anyone caught wind of it, we'd never hear the end of it. " Apple holding back technology as usual". If they can get it in both phones put it in both phones. If they can only fit it in one put it in one.

Side note: if the rumour turns out to be BS or if the only reason they don't put it in the iPhone 7 is to make more money? I'll be ok with that too. They can do what they want in the grand scheme of things. Not much we can do other than not buy it.
