We were confused, but Bobby is absolutely correct. It's very simple:

Any woman hears "hey baby, this here's the 2011 Macbook Pro by Apple. it's got the top of the line quad core 2.3, 8 gigs of ram, ... (blah, blah, blah)"

She easily translates this: This guy is LOADED. The End.

Respect is earned.

Judgment is necessary for survival.

The posts here come across as someone who may be a spoiled brat with no clue or respect for money and very little else.

That is hard to embrace.

Seriously man. If you're gonna throw money around like it doesn't mean anything, like there aren't people struggling out there, and you're gonna brag about it, at least be consistent with your cool indifference and don't complain when you get shyt for it.

Why do you assume that the only reason people criticize you is because they are jealous? That's odd...

You're just not smart enough to understand the complex psychological connections/machinations. Don't worry about it my son...

Bobby, you'll probably impress more girls when you move out and get your own place.

Just a suggestion.

In his mind he's winning

Is this the real life?

Anyway, we are jealous loosers (yeah, two ohs) and basterds anyway.
I mean, if I would have known, that my 2009 MBP was the fastest machine back than in 2009 and I could have gotten laid more, I definitely would have used it. ****ing is important. Even dumb****ing.

No sleep for 30 hours seems to take its toll, if I would have slept in between, I would be totally on the OP's side.

You should be glad for me, and ask me how I did it, not let your jealousy mutate into misguided hatred.

that conclusion is short sighted, archaic, and based on a fear-based life outlook. There are too many destructive downsides for those on the other end of the judgement. Its incompatible with human nature and the pursuit of happiness. There is no place to discuss the details here but in short, you should stop thinking less like hitler and Stalin and think more like Abraham Lincoln and inwould like to welcome you to the modern age of enlightenment.

I dunno but I'm HAPPY and I've still judged you as ... 'not right in the head'. :)

Now you comparing my post to Hitler and Stalin ... ooops time to report your post and hope you're banned... you're sick, see help, (you too Charlie).

^hater alert

yes, the OP probably could've left out some details (ie; needs the fastest everything but probably won't utilize it), but it is HIS money. No need to hate on that fact.

Now I would NEVER spend that much money on such stuff as I look at resale values vs initial investment. Same thing goes for my camera equipment. Why buy new lenses, when in fact used is just as good and you save the 20-30% depreciation.

I would like to buy an SSD, but it is just too expensive for me, especially since I cannot use a single one for all my stuff. My iTunes library (all music) is 120GB and my A3 libraries are like 100GB total.

Oh yeah, you can do 16GB of RAM now. Dunno exact cost though..

Well I see the machine as the cornerstone organization tool that drives my business. I wouldn't have the money I have without the trackpad making the world wide web of information so "browseable" and that led me to be more likely to have found the wholesale dealers that I eventually found that perpetuated me into this wealth. It's only right to invest some money back into the tool that got me here in the first place. To me this investment is boosting my asset column and I am in fact investing the money. The more organized i feel the more likely it is to induce that good type of OCD that helps me git er' done.

That and the iPhone and the iPad 3G with all my calendars and notes synched via the MobileMe cloud. All the rest of the organization in my life stems from and is encouraged by specifically that neatness of elegant organization where I would otherwise be disengaged, disconnected and depressed/lazy. These tools directly empower my success so it's almost symbolic that having a 2.3 is like having a strong pillar of foundation to organize my whole life.

16gigs of ram is well over 1k tho and wouldn't be reasonable enough.

Your keyboard is already broken.

Have you guys seen that movie Limitless? It's kind of like that. The way he is when he takes the pill is the way I am naturally all the time when I use Apple products...

That's the best way I can explain it

Hee. You are what - 24, driving a Sentra and still living with Mom? What wealth are you referring to?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. You are just a little bit nuts.

You've got a lot to say ... any twelve year old with access to a keyboard can carry on like you do.

Put up or shut up.

Let's see some photo's of all your max'd out toys and wealth ... you've got the best of everything Apple has to offer so grab your iPhone 4 and put some truth in your words.

*This is where he runs out and takes a picture of daddy's car, or says his camera is broken or disappears from the forum, LOL

(I hope the later happens, but photo evidence would be interesting) :)

I only started making this much only a couple months ago but I'm already projected to make six figures by the end of this year. It's crazy. I went from working at Gamestop for 1K a month to making 2K every Saturday and Sunday. And it's exponentially growing fast. I'm not lying about anything.

In fact, bemusingly to me, all I have done is be truthful and honest about my own personal thoughts and the more honest I seem to be the more it upsets random people who come out of the woodwork. I'm not trying to impress anybody, im just matter of factly telling the facts and my thoughts for other people who relate and somehow that is something bad.

Why would I lie? Yes I drive a Sentra. So?

I haven't done anything wrong except express my thoughts..

LOL, I like this Bobby guy. Very adept caricature of a shut-in with lots of money and zero social skills, not to mention zero women's names in his cell phone contact list (save maybe his mom's).

Unless he's actually for real.

I'm not accusing you of lying. Just of having a slightly skewed perception of reality.

Now, back to this money you are making. You aren't doing anything illegal or questionable, with Mom right down the hall, are you? That just wouldn't be right.

I think I need to dial back my estimate of your age. You are still in high school, I take it?

OP, looks like you want to have the latest and best. Nothing wrong with that but don't burn yourself out trying to constantly upgrade and keep up with every refresh.

Over spending on tools

Friend, I also have my own company and at the moment we are doing quite well. I assure you, that mindset wont help you build a financially healthy organization.

If you have the money to pay for the best of the best, all the power to you. You don't and shouldn't need to justify wanting to spend your money on things you covet, regardless of the premium involved.

Now, if believe that owning a $2500 MBP instead of a $1700 truly matters to others, seek psychological help.

Ouch! I think you've kind of exposed yourself here;)

Been doing audio/video production for the past two decades...and pay my mortgage in the craft these days as well. Anyone in their right mind would NEVER store "All the sounds" from Logic/Ableton or Final Cut's "Everything" on the same drive as their program!!! Come on man...seriously? Scratch and "element" drive (= "All the sounds") should be separate from your app for optimum performance, especially with a laptop as we're still limited with the 2.5" size. The "Everything" from FCP? Are you talking the STP content? The video "extras"? Totally unnecessary to have on your main HDD if you're actually using FCP. Same goes for Logic...Loops and SFX can live on an external. Main apps are just a gig or two to install ALL of it. (There is some overlap between Logic and FCP).

Also, why in the world store years of music and videos on your internal drive? Honestly...at Costco, you can sometimes grab a 1.5TB external 2.5" HDD for a hundred bucks! This should store what you're looking to (assuming, as you say...the 750 gig is "pushing it!")

PhotoShop and Illustrator. Same as FCP/Logic. You should be able to install ALL of your Pro Apps...FCP, Logic, PS and Ill with the essential elements using much less than 50 gigs!!! With a 512 SSD, you'll be still rockin' 450 gigs+ in extra "super Speed" storage!!! Hands down, and GUARANTEED a MUCH Bigger improvement speed wise to your system than the .1 ghz processor upgrade. MUCH bigger...>an SSD, regardless of your system, is the Number One performance upgrade you can make today. Bar None!

OP...if....but only IF you are Truly doing professional video/music editing on your system....you must push CANCEL on that order immediately!!! Upgrade to the 512 SSD, 16gigs of RAM....or you've got a system SERIOUSLY lacking for video and sound production;) (Kidding, of course....my point is, the SSD is a better option for you than that proc bump....if you are on a budget, as most of us are....something to consider. Even a 128/256 (IMO...after the 256, you pass the law of diminishing returns....IE...you go from about $2/gig to $3/gig for the 512 in MOST cases).

If, on the other hand...you are TRULY buying this to impress friends and ladies???? EPIC FAIL Brotha!!!!

Good Luck;)

J

I was taking your post seriously until I saw "Kidding, of course" I have all my logic stuff running off of an external HDD thats connected to a 2007 MBP via eSATA. My comp is old and I am still able to run sessions decently. That's why I just ordered the new MBP. Though SSD are awesome, 7200RPM has never crashed my system, its usually the memory or the external (if you run it through USB) or even CPU overloads. I do agree that he should have put that extra money towards a SSD and/or more RAM. .1ghz and 2mb of cache isn't that big of a difference. I went with 2.2 myself.

This leaked intel roadmap suggests you could get a better value for your investment if you buy an SSD later. It'll probably even be able to take advantage of the SATA III port. You'll never be able to upgrade the processor though, not until you buy your next one anyway. You could get more breathing room on the dollar and maybe you'll be able to actually get a SATA III drive to take advantage of the 6Gbps SATA III link.

In light of this, internal RAID as the others are suggesting would seem to be taking one step back to take a step forward. I'm not too knowledgable on the subject but it'd seem to me that you'd have to halve your maximum bandwidth to only to redouble it, since the DVD drive only uses a 3Gbps SATA II link according to the system profiler and RAID throttles down the specs of each disk to the lowest common denominator between the two.

If you ever want to maximize this computer's potential, you'll get the 2.3 ghz processor now and wait on the SSD for later. The SSD boost will be quite a bit more noticeable though.

That being said, if you always want to keep on the bleeding edge of technology, that money would probably be better spent later if it's saved towards a future purchase. Computer hardware depreciates fast and it might not add that much functionality. I'd recommend getting a 3DS or something instead.

Now mind you, I did get the 2.3 Ghz myself but that's because I plan on running this computer into the ground and figure I can get every hint of processing power I can get 8 years down the road. I might do some virtualization with Windows XP and/or Windows 8 too.

OP - You seem like a nice enough person (assuming you are not just putting us on,) I suggest you re read the following wise post. Being happy long term doesn't come from having the best "stuff". Try to talk to some wealthy people whom have been that way for more than 10 years, and they will tell you the same thing. Good luck.

You sound like you have issues with technology that you should resolve before making any significant purchases. You may want to reexamine the role of technology in your life. If simply knowing that something out there better exists adversely affects your experience you will likely never be happy in this world.
