Interesting you own a 6S and you wouldn't consider owning this design. My only gripe about this render is the rounded edges look too much like the 6/6s/7. I too would MUCH rather have this design with flat sides (like the SE).

I would not. It looks too much like the 6S. I went from 5S to 6S because of the size of the screen..

I don't believe that the square-edged design of the 5/5S would feel comfortable in the size of the 4.7/5.5" 6/6S/7 and Plus models. It works great for a small phone, but when you get bigger, rounding edges literally softens the feel of the larger phone in your hand.

You can't really assume the Touch ID is in the display, when the back of the dummy has nothing on it, not even the Apple Logo.

You're right in that we shouldn't too much into these. That said, early dummy units usually include all components (in mock form) w/o the logo. We've seen this past versions of early dummy units - all the cutouts but Apple logo.

I read somewhere that the Touch ID sensor will be located on the power button if they cannot work it into the display - it would also explain why the home button has been elongated. MUCH better solution that on the back, functionally and aesthetically.

I wonder why they changed the orientation of the camera. IF (and it's a BIG IF) this is real i would buy one, touch ID under the display is a great idea.

Personally, I think the orientation of the camera changed because they need the space at the top of the phone for the rumoured 3D Facetime Cameras. Apparently its meant to be a huge selling point for the phone and is something no one has done before. Add in all of the additional sensors, the earpiece (which we all know needs to be big enough to be a second loudspeaker), and it starts to bulk up the amount of tech in that part of the phone. Moving the cameras vertically would also allow Portrait Mode to work better in landscape, and there are rumours the new orientation will help with future AR/VR technology.

I also believe the Smart Connecter may make an appearance on this iPhone, allowing connectivity to battery cases and AR headsets without the need to bulk up the products with a lightning connecter that makes the size of the product way bigger.

I really don't see why people are complaining that it looks thicker than the current gen phones- I for one would be a fan of a slightly thicker model if the extra space was utilised to accommodate a larger battery. With an energy-conserving OLED display and a larger battery- the dream of 2 day battery life with normal usage might actually become reality. Oh, and while they're at it- maybe flush out the camera bump as well. We can but dream

hehe...You 'Dummy"

I wish i was that quick..

Visually, my iPhone 6 Plus 32Gig looks thinner than this image. (slightly thinner), but sometimes that makes all the difference..

The S8 will look like a dinosaur compared to the iPhone 8.

Note 8 v iPhone 8 at that timeline

Right now the iPhone 7 (6SS) is a 3 year old Dino .

And from all the leaks, so far is a cross between an S8 and pixel....it's like Thier child. Do you think apple is going to create something amazing we are not expecting or just evolve like the rest of the pack? I suspect this is the iPhone.....and going back to glass....Samsung s7... unless they drop the current form factor and go back to their traditional design . The current design has followed android high end units. The iPhone SE is the last great iPhone centric design

I don't consider this design to be new. Different? sure, but not new. I see it as more tweaking and upgrades to an old, and increasingly boring design. Headphone jack, then no headphone jack. Home button, then no home button. Bezel, no bezel. Square edges, then rounded. More colors, less colors. Nothing new just tweaks. No one at Apple has vision anymore, just ways to make "improvements".

Big deal.

Yes, but i would have hoped it would have flat sides too, like the 4/4s with curved glass/2.5d glass on the front and the back.

However, i like this one too, in space black, please...

That looks really good. I bet the white one will have a polished silver SS band. It would be cool to see a mockup of that!

Yes, would look nice, screen will remain black though, since it will have no borders.
But i would really like a white ceramic frame with a white glass back, though. So totally white or black.

I wonder how big the bezels will really be.
Because of the design it looks borderless when the screen is off, because of the glasscover, but i still don' t buy that they could cut a speaker hole in the screen it self. It is more plausible that there will be a small area on the top area of the coverglass that has the camera' s, speakers and sensors, and that the screen will start below that area.

Why are so many posts so focused on superficial things? I actually wish Apple would settle on a design. I can't be the only person annoyed with having to replace every accessory because Apple moves the power button a few mm or slightly changing the curve of the sides. More RAM, faster CPU, fixing UI and bugs etc actually matter and more significantly improve the experience.

Don't get me started on the inane desire for OLED in a phone. Yay for burn-in, color shifting, battery crushing power draw, and extremely expensive repairs!

As for that render, I kind of like the frame staying polished steel. Reminds me of the iPhone 0G. Sweet.

Errrr.....did their design team were on a break with this? .... there are much better phones out there, way more elegant and sophisticated.... as an apple fan I have to say that Id love stick to the last Steve Jobs original (iPhone 5!)

Apple you need to push yourselves further .... this is a joke

I honestly don' t understand all the complaints. About the dummy modell, i understand the complaints about that one, but the renders of the spaceblack one are really amazing! And those are still renders, wait until you see and feel the real one. My expectations are high.
