If they don't manage to get the home button imbedded under the screen I'll be disappointed. That is the type of stuff apple used to surprise us with in the past

I know this is all just rumors at this point but man if this phone is real. It's one FUGLY one that I probably won't get.

I'm beginning to think that there is no iPhone 7S coming. This is the iPhone 8. There is no 7S.

Or is this the 7S and there is no iPhone 8...

That other iPhone5 monster with touchID (supposedly) in the back: fake

Every year it's the same old story

  • iPhone pics are leaked
  • MacRumors users criticize the design and point out what they don't like about it and how they will be skipping that model
  • Pre order threads start popping up with "which model and color are you going to get" polls.
  • More Pre order threads surface criticizing Apple's execution because the iPhone they werent going to get is now 6-8 weeks for delivery instead of 4-6.
  • Once units are in users hands we will start seeing "gate" threads based on screen color, creaking, buzzing, rattling.

Why go back to old designs? I don't see companies going back to old designs on computers, TV's, washing machines. cars, airplanes and so on...!! Is it really hard to figure a new design that can be equally good or even better or we have reached to the end of creativity?

Let me answer it this way. Do prefer all the new car designs ? Or is there some older ones that you consider classics and if one were to be redone, you would be happy cause it was a much cooler design ? Ford GT40 for example?

I consider the new iPhones just to adhere to android designs. The iPhone 4 was in my opinion like a Leica, a phone design , in a league of its own.

This is all personal preference though. I also think the best Subaru Impreza was the 22B :) just cause it's newer in my books does not mean better design.

If they got the TouchID under the screen I will be in on day one.

Shut up and take my money.

It isn't speculation. Just wait until the Note 8 is revealed and it will all make sense. So, in August or September, feel free to call me out if I'm wrong.

Do you also have some hints for horse races? Thanks.

Pictures of a dummy "iPhone 8" model appeared on social media over the weekend depicting a handset with a front and rear made of what looks like 2.5D curved glass and a stainless steel edge design.

The dummy device is purportedly a "CNC model according to Foxconn", according to the original Twitter poster, but there's no way to verify the claim one way or the other, so take the following with a big pinch of salt.

Screen-Shot-3-2-800x1242.jpg

The front of the device appears to have an edge-to-edge screen with no discernible bezels, while around the back there's a vertically aligned dual-lens camera, but no other identifiable markings. That includes no rear-mounted Touch ID sensor, but also no Apple logo, either.

The sides look like stainless steel, similar to those of the iPhone 4. There are volume buttons and a mute switch on the left, and a power button and SIM tray on the right. The power button appears to be longer than on previous iPhones, however.

The poster of the images offered additional details supposedly from a source with links to Foxconn, suggesting that the "iPhone 8" will have a thickness and size similar to the current iPhone 7, while the steel edges will be finished in a polished "Space Black" color.

Apart from a further image showing off the latter feature, the poster has also shown off schematics "based on blueprints" that depict a series of components hidden beneath the top of the display, where the edges of the display are indicated by a red outline. An alleged schematic of the internal components of the next iPhone has also been shared.

Apple is thought to be testing more than 10 prototype iPhone models, so it's not yet clear what we should expect. Most rumors so far suggest the upcoming OLED iPhone will have a 5.5-inch bezel-less screen with Touch ID embedded in the front display, so there will be no home button.

However Apple is said to be having trouble integrating the Touch ID technology into the screen, and leaked design schematics have indicated that the fingerprint sensor could be moved to the rear of the device, so the final design is far from certain.

Some rumors suggest the display itself may feature edges that are curved on both sides like the Galaxy S7, but the phone may have the same slightly curved 2.5D display as the iPhone 7 due to technical challenges manufacturing the more curved version. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the glass will be built around a polished stainless steel frame that's similar in design to the Apple Watch.

More images of the dummy iPhone shown above, including one of a machined chassis, can be found here.

You can't really assume the Touch ID is in the display, when the back of the dummy has nothing on it, not even the Apple Logo.

What if it's a small Oled panel for when the phone is on the apple logo lights up. That way when its locked, it looks like a piece of glass on the front and the back.

Because the iPhone is their biggest selling product and their most popular so it makes sense. Apple have celebrated and acknowledged other anniversary's over the years just not as much, considering the iPhone 8 will be announced in September the only reason it is being announced is in celebration of the 10th anniversary!

I don't know, to me it seems very silly to go back to an old design. Yes, it was good but we are 10 years ahead now...technology not quite the same as it was then. Celebrate the universary but with a fresh unique design. No need to go back on stupid circles.

Oh no not again !! Fugly Protruding camera

REMOVE that NASTY WART

Exaggerating with hyperbole isn't proving your point in comparison with a physical design that has no correlation a device that has the same performance.

Looks good. I liked the original phone's overall design, and this looks like a flashback.

I also liked the design of the 4... who am I kidding: I liked them all.

It's been a while since I studied geometry but can someone explain WTF 2.5D is?
Take the third axis and fold it in half... duh!

In other words--it only works SOME OF THE TIME.
