I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro Max that I got back in June, but I also know that Apple changes colors and I like that purple they have now. No guarantee they’ll have it next year. What to do….

Sure it will. It just won't get the attention it got now and will be obsolete in quite a short time when front cameras disappear under the display. Still, a great idea - but maybe too little too late.
Even if the cameras go under the display there’s no reason they couldn’t keep the system in use in some matter. It could be relocated to any part of the screen and only show up when in use instead of permanent since the camera cutouts would be gone.

It is but immature until next year. I got the Pro for 24 hours and have to say it’s gimmicky at the moment. If third party developers will implement good features it will take off.
Got the normal 14 (came from the 11) instead and will wait until next year.
Exactly….the Touch Bar was a gimmick that died off FAST

we've reached the point of finishing returns now that cameras are all basically really good and the CPU is fast enough. Might be the first time I wait 3 years to upgrade a phone.
Yeah plus the camera bump is getting obnoxious….the pixel implementation is better putting them in a strip that’s uniform across the phone. iPhone is just a wobbly uneven mess now

Yup, I agree 100%. I upgraded to the iPhone 14 Pro from an iPhone 11 Pro. The only reason I’d upgrade next year is if they implement USB C. Lightening is such a nuisance at this point.
I'm on a 12 Pro and was looking to have (not that I needed) the 14 Pro, but the lack of SIM tray just made me realize how better my 12 Pro is. I'll just have it serviced for battery replacement.

Don’t think can compare these. Using the entire Touch Bar wasn’t mandatory and didn’t need to use that much. The laptop also didn’t have issues with having sensors and display with blacked out area. Touch Bar way more gimmicky than island which is out of necessity.

It will take off where the Mac "Touch Bar" failed. I don't think this is a one-trick pony feature.

Pretty sure Dynamic Island is coming to Macs too. Probably M2 Large MacBook Pro/iMacs or M3 Macs.

What I wanna see more than anything next gen is TouchID on the power button!!

Come on Apple you did it years ago on iPad so we know it’s been possible!!

I expected this. Didn't think DI would be ditched after a year, but expanded to all models.

NOW...question is do 15 Pro models get a smaller "island" compared to 14s, like 13s received a smaller notch.
USB-C, I expect...since other countries will demand it - do not limit USB-C to one country, and keep out of date slow lightning connection to USA (Like the Sim Tray) for one more year and let's face it, USBC is way past due.

Would personally love to see another MAJOR camera upgrade..5X zoom..I don't know. Can we jack it up to 10X at least!? Again more improved sensors, better sharpening. If it requires another bigger camera ara/bump...so be it. (this flush camera system Prosser "predicted" I cannot see happening for at least another 2-3 years.) Not sure if 48MP Raw will be bumped up, maybe 55-60MP (wishful thinking). 8K Video Recording. Not sure if I'd use that, but nice option.

And start off at 256GB base model so ALL Pro users can actually use ALL features - Yes ProRes, looking at you.

Little off topic - even in June announcing iOS 17, can we have the ability to shrink the home screen icons. We can fit more on one screen. Just an idea. The Lock Screen received an overhaul, now it's time to perhaps focus on the main home screens. Oh, split screen for Pro models would be nice also, something many have wanted for years!

*Just rambling ideas, a wishlist popping into my head.

Just in time for them to launch iPhone SE refresh in 2024 with the "Notch", now known as the Static peninsula.

I want a under display face id and an even more dynamic island :) Could this make it to iPhone 15 Pro? Or perhaps iPhone 16 Pro? :)
I’m not Ross Young, but yeah, this will come with the iPhone 16 Pro for the first time, and later with the whole iPhone 17 lineup (2025). The planning was leaked time ago.

As I said, nope, all the iPhone 15 lineup will share the same Dynamic Island. It won’t be until the iPhone 16 Pro when the Face ID will be under display, and we’ll have a hole punch on the display, something that will extend to the rest of the lineup on the following year (iPhone 17)

The iPhone 14 Pro is great device, but I just don’t see enough to move from my 13 Pro. I will definitely be upgrading to the 15 Pro which will hopefully add USB-C. It’s the last feature that I would want in a smartphone.

What I really want for the pro models, is a titanium body. I’m sorry, I know it is expensive and difficult to work with and to tint with different colors, but the iPhone Pro has become too heavy for my hands too comfortably use it.

Otherwise I’ll go for the regular model.

Also with all the news of activation issues, them sorting out the satellite support, and the lack of SIM slot, I’m definitely waiting until next year. Almost feels like the 14 is a test phone. Ideally they’ll have it sorted out by next year.

Obviously an unpopular opinion, but:

How are people seriously this excited about a black blank area at the top that can grow to show stuff?

It seems like every other post on MR is about this thing. It can’t be that big a deal.
Wow, we really are all suckers, aren't we. They're changing the background color around notch 2.0, adding some notification icons and buttons to that area, and calling it a feature.

And MacRumors in a previous article is saying it "is arguably one of the iPhone 14 Pro's most interesting features"? OK, if you say so.

This 'feature', marginal camera improvements, and a phone that is both thicker and heavier than the already brick-like 13?

I'll say it again, we really are all suckers.
