The waiting is driving me nuts.

If the new MBP is comming it's gonna be my first mac.

I really need a notebook....maybe I just buy a MB and wait for september and then buy the montevina (?) MBP.

I really want to pull the hair out of my head.
I'm like...checking macrumors every 30 min...omg...:(

If they don't get updated by Feb 5, I'm buying the current model...I've been waiting for too long now :(

... wouldn't it be even more frustrating. Waited for ages, then bought the model u could have bought the frist second??

now it's really worth waiting a couple more weeks.
Mpb is simply outdated for a 'pro' model. It still is a good, nice notebook.
But the state of the art commerical on the webpage starts to sound ironic ....
Evene if it's just a couple small details, but they becomming more and more.(Led backlight in all models, bluetooth, screen resoluiton (hey my asus notebook 3years old has 1680x1050 in 15.4"...), graphics , magnetic latch, and now also penryn)
the Mbp is slowing degrading to middle class notebook, state of the art with this price tag is a bit funny.
For that price i expect up to date specs. this is the pro line - for good sakes !! keep it that way apple. (not just for couple month every two years)

I'm simply not gonna buy the current model, end of story.

cheers

Hmm yes you have a point. The thing is, I've wanted to switch to Mac ever since they made the PPC->Intel transition and offered Bootcamp...but at that time I didn't have the money to buy one and after all the negative things I read and heard about the MBP's (at that time) whining issue and excessive thermal paste I decided to delay a purchase. A new laptop wasn't a big priority at that time and when I actually had the money, something always came up that had a bigger priority than buying a new laptop, since my windows laptop was still tolerable. However, by now it's just one big piece of junk (can't even watch youtube without the pc shutting down, I re-applied thermal paste and all, but no result). There are many other things that aren't working anymore (5year old laptop by the way). So my attention went back to MBP and I didn't buy one in oktober because I had read that new MBPs would be announced at MWSF. Well, you know the rest from there. ;) So you see, it's been a while and although I'm trying to convince myself to just hang in there another week, it's getting more and more difficult to do so. My tuesday would be VERY "super" if we see an update then

I check it every 30 min as well!!! I'm going crazy.

Current Macbook Pro

For me the anticipation of an upcoming update resulted in a serious loss of productivity. I was checking the MR site every hour and reading all the posts. When we did not see the update on 1/29, I figured with the delays with the Penryn that even if there was an imminent update we would not see the model shipping until the end of February. Therefore, I decided to pull the trigger. I am totally satisfied with the current MBP. It is a GREAT machine. More importantly productivity is up, deadines are being meet and the anxiety over the rumored update is gone.

Best of luck to all you who have what it takes to wait it out.

i have some high stake bets on the patriots winning by more than 11, although if i didnt yeah i would want the giants to win

Hey I know we all want our updated MBP...I mean I am lamenting with the rest of you. I can only hope the hold up is because Apple wants to get this right. I hope we have put enough pressure on them that they are going to deliver us a stellar, no flaws or bugs, update that is worthy of the long, long, seemingly endless wait. They know they pushed aside the pro's for the MBA deadline so they had better deliver. Even if it is pushed back to March we can only hope they have made the wait worthwhile. And they better not come out with some new flashy design upgrade, with all the works, including Blu ray(which I don't think will happen with this next upgrade) in the fall after we have all bought this upcomingMBP . Not that I could do anything about it but they better not Damnit!

I repeat!

am i the only superficial one here who cares more about the look of the machine than whats inside it?

im waiting for a redesign... plain and simple

this plastic toy of a computer isn't cutting it

Plastic? That's the first time I've heard an MBP referred to as "plastic" :p

Well, there is all that plastic around the edge of the case. And those spray-painted keys.

My old Pismo is plastic and still going strong. After seven years the keys still have all the letters on.

Last night I was sorting out a friend's titanium laptop during a thunderstorm.

There was a flash of lightening and I got a shock off the titanium case. The computer never blinked. Never had a shock off the Pismo.

Everyone is talking about releases on Tuesdays but what time, I know most of you are still asleep but here it's already 1 in the afternoon.

I want to get the new updated model befere they come out with the next design! I love the current look. I just want a magnetic latch and the plastic rimming changed to match the macbook's edges. Besides that, I love the current design. Doesn't seem outdated. Still looks awesome. Plus I'm worried apple will pull some retarted look on the MBP and make it look like the new iMac! (YUCK). Apple needs to redesign the iMac because I think the black rimming looks cheesy and cheap. Full aluminum would have been better.

I'm in the Western United States and last week they updated the site sometime around noon. So I'm guessing they'll do the same this week...

I am pretty confident that they add products/update the site between 5am-8am west coast time. That is Pacific Standard (San Francisco, Los Angeles time). So we have between 8-11 hours from now until we know.

Most people agreed last week that that is the window of time for updates.

i would happily have agreed with you if apple had release 10.5.2 by now.. but they havent, and I dont see them putting out the new MBPs until that OS is done so they can ship em with the branding "Now shipping with 10.5.2!" like you're gettin more for your money.

of course, like a child on christmas I'll be watching the store all day, but I'm pretty sure Santa's staying put today... :(
