I'm in the Western United States and last week they updated the site sometime around noon. So I'm guessing they'll do the same this week...

I have to agree with you, people keep wanting a new design but for me the Macbook as it exists has a simplicity about it that says "how could you improve on this?" I look at dark side laptops and most have some sort of "ornamentation" that appears to be trying to create a sense of style which fails miserably against the MB.

I am waiting for the 45nm chip, an up to date screen and a (maybe) a multi touch pad.

My Pismo was the last of a good line, I don't mind buying another "last of a good line" if it lasts me another seven years.

Apple have to upgrade soon to keep competitive but the big upgrade will come later is my guess.

Macbook Air, I suspect, is a distraction with another purpose.

High noon on the West coast, what time is that in the real world? Suppose about 2 am on Wednesday here.

I am pretty confident that they add products/update the site between 5am-8am west coast time. That is Pacific Standard (San Francisco, Los Angeles time). So we have between 8-11 hours from now until we know.

Most people agreed last week that that is the window of time for updates.

Thanks Bayol, that makes it 10pm to 1am here. It's a nice warm sunny day here in paradise.

So, the hot question of the morning has to be - Is today going to be a day of delight or a day of delayed disappointment?

Personally, I'm hoping for the former but as they say....time will tell !!

Tatster.

Dear Santa Jobs... Please bring me a MacBook Pro Tomorrow!

Hi All,

First time poster, long time lurker here. On the edge of my seat, chewing on nails, and crossing my fingers and toes that we will see some kind of update to the MacBook Pro line tomorrow.

Believe it or not, my current laptop is a Pismo (using it right now) and it's still working great! However, as much as I love my dear friend, it is just not powerful enough for me to do any real work on. I'd love to replace my desktop with a top-of-the-line 17" MacBook Pro so I could get out of the office now and then and still be able to do some serious work.

Obviously for me even the first MBP would be a vast improvement, but having waited this long I might as well hold out for the update. I'll take anything, but hoping for:

Penryn (of course)
better graphics card
multi-touch
same keyboard as prev MBP but with revised function keys (preferred)
or new MBA style keyboard with aluminum finish
magnetic latch

Oh, and can we please bring back my favorite Pismo feature, the multi-purpose hot-swappable optical bay?

I don't think it's necessary to repost this!

Um... First time poster, remember? Not sure what you meant by that. Just thought we were all chiming in with our own two cents, eh?

You double posted (posts #681 and #686). As in posted the same thing twice. It's just annoying. That's all. Try not to do it again. :)

Penryn is a given.

New graphics card I don't think is at all likely. Apple is not going to go for a more power hungry chip like the 8700M, and certainly not the 8800M. I can't find anything about the HD 3600 from AMD, but I doubt Apple will use it, because I doubt it's much faster (Someone find me a review!).

Multitouch is also a given.

Don't know what the MBA keyboard is like, but I hate the MB keyboard. So unless the Air keyboard is really freakin' awesome, not gonna change.

Magnetic latch... Hmmm... Maybe...

And hot swappable optical bay also not gonna happen. Sorry.

I wouldn't get too excited if I were you, the store goes down for maintenance every few days.
