Hate to say I told you so here. They'll be out next tuesday. Have patience.

no one has proof though....i'm so tired of a different person telling people to wait another week....where is the proof that there is even a "special" event for next week!

we all know how that goes

/sigh

but I'm fairly sure Apple has said it will be out in late february
so

let's hope for the best. . .

Yeah, here's to hoping for next Tuesday.

On the more positive side, there isn't much else Apple can update in their product line, right?? We've gotten iPhone, iPod Nano, and Shuffle updates...what the hell else is left? Ok, ok...maybe Cinema Displays...then the Mighty Mouse 2...updated Mac Mini...a redesigned power adapter...redesigned Mini DVI --> DVI/VGA adapter...(am I missing anything else?) THEN an updated MBP! ;)

That should cover all of the tuesdays in March. So that is what... 4 or 5 more "next Tuesdays" for the MBP

You forgot:
BT-keyboard "now in black"
USB keyboard "now in black"
Updated Airport Express
Updated Macbooks (yes, really)
Updated iLife
Redesigned Apple-remote

And then an updated MBP.

Edit:
Of course, when all that is down, they will update the iphone's and Touch's memory, introduce another two or three consumer items, and then, the wait for updating the pro audio apps begins. And in summer 2009 they will introduce the new FCP: Main feature being Bluray –*available december (2009).

I don't know what more I could do to prove what I've heard from a legitimate source by actually naming them, which I won't be doing. Like I said, I'm patiently waiting myself, so here's hoping. The exact words which were spoken to me 2 weeks ago were 'They won't be this week or next week... if they come in February at all it will be the last week in February'. This came from someone inside Apple who would know. You do what you want with that.

Put it this way:
Time Capsule ain't out yet, MBP and mac mini is overdue a refresh, and you've got new chips out by Intel. Youve also got Montevina coming out by June. You've got iPhone refreshes by Japan launch come summer, and you'd think they will want to spread events out (Jobs said as much at the keynote). The kingpin event being that the SDK is pinned down to February, which leaves only a few days left, and Tuesdays' the day for things Apple style.

LMFAO - every tuesday is just such fun to watch.

My lovely Refurb is doing great. Waiting is a fools game. Stop being Job's bitch, and buy a refurb or something else current off Ebay. It wont explode the moment a Penryn machine comes out ( if they do Penryn at all ) - and you get a very high power laptop, right now, and save a fortune.

well... hopefully Apple realizes that people are getting restless about the MBP, and that it needs to be released next week!

I hope that Steve Jobs is at least smart enough to do that. They have done well so far, why mess it up now!

If the stores don't get any shipments, that will be a definite sign that there will be a release in a week.

Yep, that 'special' event is still rumoured. If Apple don't start sending out invites pretty soon, thats all it will remain to be.

These new MBP better be able to give hang jobs if the wait is this long

ha ha. Anyone ever get the feeling that Steve Jobs is looking down upon all of us from a hilltop castle in Cupertino while tenting his fingers and laughing?

Ok, so apart from the above, and the TUAW tentative post, we've also got the fact that Adobe's showing AIR by the end of the month ~26-27th ish.

Once you've grasped what AIR and it's competitors (Silverlight, Prism etc) are about, you can see the relevance to iPhones (specifically Flash support, future 3G versions etc, and more relevantly, the SDK).
So the SDK may very well be linked to Adobe's AIR, which is getting a press release in a week pretty much.

The apps have to be grounded in something, and i'd bet that that something is AIR compatible.

On another tack, what's the time between an event, and the announcement of a press conference/satellite link up for the UK journalists? I'm just thinking if it's going to be big next week (and if it is next week ;) ) then there will be a link up so there is press attention.

Whaddya know, guess this CONFIRMS them for the 296th!

I'd sooner see a HDCP Cinema Display next week, with Component/HDMI, now Blu Ray is king.

I know why the BIG wait.

They are being released at the opening of the new Belfast Apple Store.

New Store, New MBP.

Well I can wish, can't I.

At least the stores real.

he he...so, we're looking at April/May. And, if it gets released before then, I'll be pleasantly suprised...which beats hoping for "this tuesday" and being disappointed. ;)

I sure as heck hope you're right and it's next Tuesday...
