It doesn't have a glass back. The internet says it's the same as the 6/6s/7.
Another year ticks past, and for the first time in forever I long for neither a new MBP nor iPhone.
2015 MBP + SE = happiness for at least another year.
Now, if Apple slaps 32 GB RAM in a MBP, or an OLED or a stbilized camera in a revised SE form, we could talk. But instead we get touch bars, glass backs, and ridiculous face scanners.
So how would you re-design it? Tall and skinny iPhone 5? Tall and skinny iPhone 4/4s? The reality is that there aren't many more options to completely revolutionize phone design. They all look the same, except for a few gimmicks like snap on accessories or a power button on the back.

Maybe they will buy both....Hopefully enough people will get the 8 and the X will ship to everyone that wants one on day 1. And at the end of the day, everyone is happy.

Not only is it glass but it hard to replace and cost more to do so.
This whole thread sounds like a sales pitch.
All I see is a four year old design with a glass back from a seven year old design.
Granted the electronics and materials are updated, but the rest is the same old same old. And it's heavier as if that's a good thing? Creative and innovative ideas have left the building. No thanks. I'll stay with my 7 plus.
I have to ask at what point is there a diminishing return on faster chips, better screen? I think the screen on the iPhone has looked great since the 5. How many more millions of colors the human eye can't see do we need to see? How much faster does the phone have to be to play a few games, text, and look at Facebook?
I am really beginning to feel the focus on iPhone is no longer about design and innovation. The market seems to have moved on to who has the latest chips and the greatest gimmicks.
Unfortunately Apple is late to the game with wireless charging and oLED displays. But at least they have the fastest chips. Thats just great. Good for them.

Agreed. But that applies to all vendors, not just Apple. For me personally I am past that point. Smartphones are like microwave ovens at this point to me and most people. The are devices that do a specific set of things, no more no less. They are common place devices and most mid range devices would suffice for 95% of the user base. The WOW is for the most part gone. In 2 years cheap Android phones will have HDR screens. I do not believe there is much left in this form factor. It will a bunch of minor enhancement until the next form factor change happens.
If Apple does not improve the keyboards on the current MBP's I will probably move to a ThinkPadfor my next purchase.
Not impossible, but it depends on you and your lifestyle. If you're easily distracted or have distracting influences in your life, it's easy to knock one off a table. I never worried about cases until I had an infant in my life. The infant learned to walk and I set my phone down to keep him from going somewhere dangerous. He got back to my phone before I did and before I knew it, he had thrown it off a second floor balcony.
Some people have the presence of mind to secure their phones before trying to save a child from danger (priorities, right?), but I'm not one of them. When I upgraded to an iPhone 6+, I purchased AppleCare, and I made sure to get a case for it.
Now there are four of the little ones running around. I don't think I'll be going caseless.
The -gate for this phone will be regret-gate in a month.
Surprise. Person who purchases £800 phone is also pleased with spending £800 on said phone.
How about the people who haven’t bought it? Balance the article maybe?
Amazing how much design affects the perception of the phone. I saw someone complain on Facebook that iPhone X got all the new tech and the iPhone 8 was full of 3 year old tech.

The first 2 iPhones were radically different to the rest. At a pinch it’s similar to the 3G one.The first 3 iPhones 2007/2008/2009 were the same design.
2010/2011/2012/2013 practically the same design actually. Just the 5/5s stretched.
That's what I call wishful thinking.Hopefully enough people will get the 8 and the X will ship to everyone that wants one on day 1. And at the end of the day, everyone is happy.
