Will be getting an 8 - jumping from an 5s so I'm excited. X is too much in Canada at $1,500+

Would love not to use a case but I'm beyond clumsy and regularly drop the phone.

Any drop tests done yet?

When the iPhone first came out with metal back it was surely the best and amazing.

Until when 3G came out with plastic back it was surely the best and welcome improvement from terrible aluminum with poor signal who’d use that garbage.

Until when 4 came out with glass back it was surely the best with premium weight and look and feel rather than cheap plastic for people who can’t afford things.

Until iPhone 5 came out with metal back it was surely the best because it won’t shatter like terrible weak glass in old designs lol shattering phones dumb.

Until 5c came out with plastic back it was the surely best unapologetic but also the same best as metal back but only if on a faster phone with new gold colour.

Until the iPhone 6 because then only metal was best and cheap plastic is terrible. But antenna lines are ok and necessary because how else can you do it it’s phyics dummies this is best solution.

Until iPhone 7 because metal is still best but antenna lines are gross who could be seen with that across back it must wrap around side and made same colour apple eye for detail unmatched.

Until iPhone 8 because glass is truly the best with wireless for charge mat and premium finish not boring metal welcome to 2012 lol.

Until 2 month later lol 8 is for losers 4 year old design lol bezels. Ex i mean 10 is truly best Notch™ is bold and modern design so people know I don’t have Samsung phone from may.

The glass back feels great and looks amazing. Noticeably heavier coming from my 6s which I prefer.

I like the glass back.

But, when you look at the 8 from the front next to the X or the Galaxy the iPhone 8 looks dated.

You know what looks a heck of a lot more dated than the design? That grid of icons which hasn't changed one bit in ten years. A complete overhaul of the UI to a more modern variant would do a lot more to give iPhone a fresh new look and visual aesthetic.

Regarding design, the 8 is terrible compared to the 4. The 4 was fresh, with the squared sides. Beautiful. Remember Jobs likening it to a Leica camera? The 8 is a 6 with a glass back. How much ******** can I read in a day?

The better test of comments is after the honeymoon phase is done and the return window is closing. Check and see how many (those are the ones who jumped on this in the first hours of availabilty ,of course for those people there will be a newness factor and justification of purchase when it is quicker and generally a bit better than what they have now) still have their new 8 in two weeks.

Sounds like the 8 has nicer things to have and nice upgrades sure, but is it worth the $300-$700+ upgrade or initial cost?

In a usual year, maybe people ride it out, but obviously especially now moreso with the IPx carrot dangling at the end of the rope in as early as 6 weeks. Yes it could be 3-6 months though, but if people get lucky or think they will and get the X fairly soon in Oct, where you’re getting all the new features of the 8/8+ in a smaller form factor, assuming you can work with or around the loss of TouchID. In the next week or so of a return window, will see how many will decide and justify waiting for the X that are smitten today with the 8.

Regardless, this is a fascinating time of the year always for those that study human behaviour, thinking, psychology etc, never mind marketing, on how people react, justify, decide, rationalize, get caught up in needing the newest and best, and watching their financial will power take a backseat to it all (or not)...and those who also expect Apple (ie those saying, “well they end to have the 8 because otherwise we would all have to wait until the X comes out”) to have a new phone out in Sept like clockwork, no matter what, are a whole other subject.
Those who hesitate are lost.

Loving my 8 Plus so far. No regrets, not in a month, not in a year.
Mine too awesome!

Glass back = fingerprint magnet
In a case, nope

Congrats to all who got a new one today!
I love my 256GB 8. Been playing with it all day. :) Going to a concert soon so I'll enjoy being able to record 40K 60 FPS video without worrying about storage.

I have a clear back case so I get to enjoy the look of the glass back without the smudges. :)

I guess if people liked the ip6/7, what's to hate about the 8? They are practically the same with some very minor upgrades. Was at the Apple store today to play w/ it.. Really didn't see much difference to drop 700 to upgrade. Meh, wasn't impressed.

Played with it at the store? Sorry not the same.
You didn't buy it, no story. Nothing to see here folks, move along.
In other news, we who bought it and have tried it for a while and OWN it, love it! end of story!

Crazy how different your impression of something can be when you actually use it.

Nope. I think the people who will be waiting months for X might have regret-gate.
Na it's the only iPhone I want. OLED screens is one reason why I love my Note 8. If I can get an iPhone x I'll jump all over it. Otherwise the 8 isn't worth it IMHO.

Love my 8 plus however, one of my back corners the glass is coming apart from the case. Its not seemless and felt like it was going to cut me. There is a visible gap in one corner only. Sigh.
Send it back!

I'm passing on the new models after considering my "wants" vs "needs". Spending a thousand dollars for a new phone which doesn't offer me the differences my first iPhone (4S) did over a BB Curve seems a bit crazy. I'll stick with my trusty old 6 Plus until the battery won't hold enough charge.
You spend more on dog food a month than I spend on my 8+! :)
Im sending in my 6 for $300 toward my 8+ and Im not looking back! For $17.50 a month?
Worth every penny!

Well it is the same... cuz there wasn't much difference btw the 8 and the 7. Why does one need to own it when it has 98% the same functionality? In other news, my wallet isn't lighter 700 bones for a minimal upgrade.

Heh, really!
"I tried it in the store"
Like we as Iphone users don't know the difference?
:)

You make it seem like the 8 is an entirely new experience. That's some good stuff you're puffin' :)

Us Apple users must not be complacent to whatever Apple puts out. Otherwise we are always bending over and getting minimal upgrades. Vote w/ your wallet.... Have an open mind and call a spade a spade when one sees it. Avoid the brand loyalty by always siding the company as if they did not wrong.
