Is there any comparison of 8 and 8 plus camera? I mean, beside optical zoom and portrait mode, are cameras same/sensors/algortihms etc... same??

looks great this really should of been what we got for the 7 plus really but the added features are ideal.

Cool that you guys are enjoying your new 8s. Played with the space Gray 8 at my job. Definitely getting the space Gray iPhone 10 b/c the color is gorgeous

My favorite thing about my new iPhone 8 is probably the true tone display.

How so? What is different?

Some only care about looks. Others care about the tech or appreciate how Apple combines software/hardware. That's fine because some of that is on Apple for pushing specs don't matter. If it was "just" an oled screen on iphone X (and at that price), I probably wouldn't bite. But I'm interested to see what their focus on AR, the front sensors, and face ID have in store for us and what some devs can do with it. Seriously, some of it looks pretty cool and only Apple is capable of this kind of stuff for now.

The 8 is more of a solid S update which is fine. If not for the X, I'd probably have an iphone 8 plus right now to replace my 7 plus. This year it just happens to be positioned as mid tier.

I have a 7 plus. What is it about the 8 that impresses you? Is it the wireless charging like Samsung?

o "I really appreciate the glass back, as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 were just way too slippery, which made it impossible to use them without a case," said MacRumors forum member 0837990, who said he purchased a space gray iPhone 8 Plus. "I can comfortably use the 8 Plus without a case!"

o "Upgraded from the iPhone 7," said MacRumors forum member ApplePersonFreak. "Love the glass back, and it's so zippy. For what I use my phone for, it works for me and is a great upgrade. Can't wait to use wireless charging eventually."A few forum members are concerned the glass on their iPhone 8 isn't properly aligned. With millions of iPhones coming off the production line, it's common for a few to have manufacturing defects, but based on the pictures shared, it's hard to see much of any problem being described.

Oh boy... till you all break the glass back.

I was excited for True Tone, but every time I go to use it, it makes my screen super yellow. It’s like I’m purposely trying to turn my phone into one of those awful yellow iPhone displays. I do not see it “blending in” with the environment, I just see a fugly yellow screen. That’s just me.

I also don’t like the added weight. It’s noticeable, and I preferred a lighter design. I’ll take the Qi trade off, as I’m sure that’s where the weight is coming from. Qi is fantastic.

Coming from a 7 (sacrelig!!!!?!!??!!), it’s still a nice upgrade. Thank you Jump On Demand.

So if you put a case on the 8/8+ like 95% of people will do does it look any different than a 7?

People saying this...

"I can comfortably use the 8 Plus without a case!"

Are going to love replacing the glass on the front and back when they drop it.

Have used my 6S+ without a case and haven’t dropped it once.

I will take my chances. Especially when it was a spigen case which gave my iPhone its first scratches, and there’s no guarantee a case will suffice in protecting it in the event of a drop anyways.

Porsche would like to have a word with you.
You know, Porsche does modernize its 911, while keeping the shape cues almost everyone recognizes and loves.

If you look at the last 4 major versions - the 993, 996, 996 and 991, it's obvious that design changes. This is not so obvious at all between the iPhone 6 to the 8, they basically look alike. Even minor Porsche revisions like 991.1 vs 991.2 have more changes (particularly inside the car) than say, the iPhone 6S vs the 7.

Apple has been running too long with this design and the problem with the iPhone 8 is that is looks really dated. It's back to bezel-land one more time. The design wasn't that nice to begin with, and now it's just cringe-inducing at that price.

But you get cookie points (Tim Cook doesn't award brownie points) for comparing a Chinese-made, run-of-the-mill consumer item with an iconic luxury sports car that only very few people can afford.

I like new and for a few more dollars I'll wait for the X as any slight improvement is good and only 5 weeks to wait. Look out for reviews from New Zealand as we will the first to play with Apples new toy X.

They are quietly expanding the portfolio that's why they are doing it. Majority still think Apple sells only one phone while the truth is they have portfolio of 8 phones now currently on sale, that's only one less than whole Xperia range. From 6s to 8+ there is only $50 difference from each model up, you basically get the same phone but with beefier internals and different color and material options.

It's quite a clever strategy from their side and it goes like this; You want a good phone? Go with 6s. You want a cheap compact phone? Go with SE. You want to show off with your phone? Go with X. You want a good camera? You have to go at least with iP7. You want even better camera with some gimmick tricks to make you feel like a photographer? You need to go with iP7+. You want wireless charging? You have to go with 8. You want that Jet Black finish? Have to go with 7. And so on.

Apple knows their customers better than they know themselves. To me the phone with least amount of compromises value included in that assessment is SE. To me 6s/7/8 are ergonomic nightmares, too thin to hold properly, too slippery, too prone to damages and they all look like Android phones unlike iconic 4/5/SE dseign

Glass back = fingerprint magnet

Glass front = fingerprint magnet, too. I always keep an ultra thin case on my iPhone so it could have a diamond-studded back I wouldn't care as I can't see it. What the back of the phone is made of is inconsequential to me, as long as it looks like new when I'm ready to sell it.

Gosh , so much hate towards the new 8. Am I on AndroidRumors forum or something ? :p
I wonder the same thing!
I've had iPhones since the original. If I decided to change or not upgrade why would I come on here
and bash the iPhone? Seems like a waste of time to me.
Anyhoo I'm enjoying my 8+ and I just got a text from Apple that my Watch 3 LTE
will be here Monday :)

I've got a 7 Plus and was pondering the 8. I figure the X will be so in demand it'll be the new year before it's available. But I might have to venture on down to the Apple store and see what it looks/feels like.

I am debating the idea of upgrading to the iPhone 8 Plus. I am really happy with the 6S Plus right now. I would like to keep the next iPhone "naked" and more compact.

How does the glass hold up versus the current aluminum design? I'm guessing scratches will be less of a concern, but what about the glass shattering when dropped, as was the problem with the 4 series?
[doublepost=1506176815][/doublepost]
I've bought the iPhone 4 at launch and was not nice to it and never broke the back. Feel on concrete and everything.

I had the exact opposite experience. Dropped the phone from about three feet onto a driveway. The back shattered.

Yep, I had my Iphone 4s in a case and dropped it and the speaker stopped working.
Dropped my Iphone 6 in a really good case, and it stopped working all together !
Had to get a replacement.
That said I think iPhones are generally pretty tough.
They have drop tests with the new 8's on youtube..not good!
I'll be buying a case!

Watched some videos of the drop tests and my dreams of going "naked" with the next iPhone have been... shattered.

Walk into Best Buy and tell the difference between various Samsung tv models. Really can’t, they all look alike. Same thing with this bezeless phones, hard to tell the difference unless you know what you are looking for. Thankfully iPhone x has “the notch”.

Send it back!
[doublepost=1506142938][/doublepost]
You spend more on dog food a month than I spend on my 8+! :)
Im sending in my 6 for $300 toward my 8+ and Im not looking back! For $17.50 a month?
Worth every penny!

True but the companionship of a dog is worth far more to me than any smartphone especially when my 6 Plus is functioning just fine.

If Verizon would give me $300 for my 6 Plus (not a 6S Plus) I'd consider buying the X maybe. When I checked their site a week ago they'd only allow around $150 for trade-in against an 8 Plus. I doubt they'll give me any more against the X when it gets here. Even then, dishing out another 46 bucks a month for something that I only want, not need, seems a bit foolish when I could use that money better elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with others spending their money as they see fit as long as it doesn't affect anyone else like other family members and their quality of life.

Only for car nerds, you, for me they all look the same.
For most people, they care or notice only when the change is big.
If you go for very long periods, say 1980s Porsche to now, well hey the change will be evident.

Return of the glass back is the best part. The iPhone 4 was an incredible design, and I definitely think this will hold up better than the previous design. Might make some of that case anxiety go away - I'd probably be brave enough to go naked from day 1. Something about the aluminium back always felt very fragile, as well as slippery! Don't think I'd feel that with a glass back. It's a shame they kept the edges aluminium (which is soft and will crumple/dent on impact), they could have given them the same brushed steel that the iPhone 4 had - which held up really well if I remember correctly.

Hopefully the glass back is something that sticks around for some years to come! Which it should if Apple want to keep wireless charging as a feature.

I wonder if this means we'll see the return of iPhone 4-style bumper cases, as people don't feel the need to protect the back so much!
I just watched a drop test comparison of the iPhone 8 and the note 8. The new glass back was a little disappointing, but I agree a bumper case would be really interesting to see on these new phones!
