In general, I love the new iPhone. After half a day, I strongly prefer FaceID to TouchID. The new screen is fantastic, and I love that it fits in nearly the same form factor as the 6/7/8.

On the downside, I hate the notch. Maybe I’ll get used to it, but I find it distracting. I also miss Reachability.

You swipe down to use reachability instead of swiping up to bring up the app switcher

This was said when TouchID was initially released, its true for every advancement in convenience. Human by nature tend to seek an easier way to complete tasks/actions (being called lazy, lol).

I would not consider it a game changer, just an evolution.

Fair enough. Evolution for you, game changer for others.

Gestures and controls are copy of Blackberry10 OS and I remember 4 years ago we were reading how it was so difficult to use because it had no home button that people were returning it. Guess everything has a time.

If Apple says so, then there is no fault with it. Competition does it, not good what are you thinking. Years later Apple releases same idea, this is innovation. Definitely a double standard.

I had a chance to play with it at the Apple Store/Town Square and my impression was great except the price and the yellowish screen. It is like having night mode on all the time.

Update: Yellowish screen is due to the True Tone display. If you turn it off, or the surrounding light changes, the screen has "normal" color.

I was really nervous about Face ID but now after 5 hours I’d never go back to Touch ID. It’s fast and incredibly seamless, whenever a password is required I don’t have to do anything at all, Face ID just takes care of it. They’ve really nailed it.

It’s a fantastic phone and just feels right.

I am kinda wishing I got the Silver version instead of the space grey as I feel the SG is lacking some of the premium aesthetic but it’s only a matter of time before I give in an wrap it in a case anyway.

I really like the X. However, the display doesn’t look as nice as the reviews said. Like a better LED not as nice as the S8 I own. Overall, it’s my favorite phone and a huge step forward. It seems natural to use it without a home button.

Really? I have the same issue, swiping up doesn’t work. You have to press, hold and hit the red dots.

Strange. Works for me every time. Wonder if there’s some kind of setting preventing you from doing it.

I see, so somebody who spent $1200 on a phone wants to justify their purchase? What a surprise!

They have the option of returning it if they didn’t like it! No? But of course you know that.
Meanwhile, I can see why someone who doesn’t have it may feel just a little bit jealous.

Yea my only negative things are
—waste of space on the keyboard should be lower
— not a fan of True Tone seems more yellow than my IPP. I turned it off
— no setting for auto magic unlock to home screen like with Touch ID
— coming from a plus would be nice if it was wider seems little narrow.

Don’t be me wrong I do like the X

Positive

Face ID faster than I thought
Screen is beautiful
Really fast phone
Etc

So jealous, although I was ready to click at 8:01 I have a delivery date of 13-20th November

Just got the phone and really like it. I’m a bit gutted that although the phone is bigger all the font size is smaller everywhere. For example Mac Rumors text is larger on my iPhone 7. There are less words per line but text size is bigger. Does display zoom have anything to do with it. It’s missing from the X. Any solutions? My eye sight is getting worse and hoping to avoid wearing glasses

Update; display zoom (the one that makes your icons larger) is responsible for the larger text. It’s not an option on the X. Any ideas why it’s gone or anyone know if it’s back in any betas etc?

On the plus side. It’s beautiful. The battery should be a huge improvement on the 7. Love reachability on it. Would have almost been a deal breaker for me not having it. Face ID seems ok. I dont think it’s better than Touch ID. In a perfect world I would like Touch ID as well but seems to be the only real compromise atm. (Apart from the tiny font)

I guess this does work but I don’t like the extra step of having to press and hold to see the red dot before you can swipe up. What’s the reason for that?

I have pretty much nothing negative whatsoever to say about this phone.

The display is absolutely gorgeous. The OLED is absurdly close to the glass. Pictures do not do justice as to how nice and big the display is - the bezels aren’t distracting. No issues with display visibility in sunlight.

Fit and finish are top notch, there is a great heft in your hand.

I don’t even notice the notch (although I won’t complain when it is removed in a future iPhone).

It’s fast - iCloud Photo Library sync was far faster than my 2016 TB MacBook Pro.

FaceID just works, a few issues in very bright sunlight (kind of like TouchID v1 - still great, but room for improvement).

Really feel overall that Apple hit it out of the park.

I would have thought the early adopters would be "most" troubled with the remove of Home button over performance, but perhaps that's just me..

Would you get more confused ? I mean we all set ourselves up to do things a certain why, I would of thought that would take priority.. It's only just out, so give it time, I bet more people will be asking the same questions how to i do this simple task i could do on my iPhone 7

WRONG! After you press and hold you can then swipe up or hit the red dot. The false spreading of information is ridiculous.
Who cares? How many times do you need to force quit a stuck app? Once every two weeks? So who cares if you need to swipe or hit a red dot?
