Since it seems that the iPhone 6/6S form factor and overall design is staying pretty much intact, Apple should call this iteration the iPhone 6SS and spare us a keynote.

So basically no charging my iPhone 7 while listening to music with my headphones at the same time? Or, no tethering my iPhone 7 to the auxiliary jack for music in my vehicle when charging the phone at the same time to best use GPS on long road trips? Glad everything around me is bluetooth enabled… wait, it's not??? Shucks, guess I'll just have to just buy a new car and headphones.
Or you know...add Bluetooth to your car. Which I would suggest for anyone at this point as plugging crap in is starting to seem antiquated.

But we don't even know anything until the actual iPhone keynote in September. So all this freaking out is over nothing but a rumor on a website to generate clicks

Firstly, there are thinner phones than even iPhone that still have a headphone jack. So if Apple DID remove it, it's not about thinness.

Secondly, you make up all kinds of scenarios where I can't help but scratch my head thinking "he can remember to bring a phone. And a charger cord. But an adapter is beyond them? Uhhh"

So I mean...whatever I guess right? If you want to leave iPhone because of this issue, be my guest. I would suggest just getting a pair of Bluetooth headphones, but I'm sure you would freak out at the very suggestion with more hyperbole about "now I have to buy another pair of headphones?! Great great. Oh Jesus that's stupid"

So...

you now, some people just do not get out much. If you sit the whole day on the same desk and arriving somewhere without one of the many adapters may not be such a challenge.

In my life nearly every other day someone does not have one adapter or another. It is often not me, but I also found myself not being able to connect something.

See earlier posts for charging bluetooth headsets and often sub-par compression artifacts.

You know what, if you like adapters and spending more money on new headphones fine with me.

PS: I already have bluetooth headsets for years, just do not use them often, as they are not my favorite, ...

Luckily my car has Bluetooth but I'm sure a lot of people don't have that. A lot of overreacting at this point and I understand why as normally as last year showed all the rumours that leaked came true.

how can be almost the same? no jack port , instead dual speakers , dual camera, slimmer profile, no such many bands, no pop up camera lens, less bezels...
How can it almost be the same? Look at every 2 year iPhone build starting with the iPhone 3 > iPhone 4 > iPhone 5 > iPhone 6… the form factor changed significantly EVERY single time. Just removing the headphone jack, changing the camera lens and adding a second speaker screams of a "S" version's incremental upgrade only.

Riiiight. Add bluetooth to my car and spend the extra money just for the sake of a new iPhone. No thanks.

still curved edges that's super difficult to grip.
ugh. I think I'll be hanging on to my 6 for a while now.
I honestly found that I was happier with my 4S than this 6, form factor wise. It was a solidly made phone that bleeds quality and thoughtful design.

ps: bye bye 'pass around the aux cord'... I don't shun apple for ditching technology that it thinks will be superseded soon, but apple here is ditching a culture.

There have been plenty of incorrectly designed cases in the past. Just because some Chinese knock-off shop makes a case now everything is fact huh.

Still 6 months before the 7 is announced and a couple months before it's finalized and goes into production. Anything at this point is simply a guess and far from fact.

Totally agree with you. Way to early to see any type of prototype cases. Usually you don't see these until about mid-late August before the September announcement.

I'd disagree with that. You don't just snap your fingers and start rolling out the volumes of units that they will want for release. The phone hardware has probably been finalized for a while now, parts ordered from suppliers, and production facilities are getting tooled up. They may be dickering around with minor last minute issues, but the big picture has been known for a while now. I'd venture a guess that some design teams have already been re-assigned to the 7S at this point.

For those harping on "stereo speakers", who says that's what they are? Whereas they might be capable of stereo sound, it is also likely that they are just there to add loudness for use as a conference phone or for music in groups of people. You don't care about stereo separation when listening to a portable stereo with your friends, do you? On that I agree with ..MacGuy, just chill and let's see what comes out. (Having said that, no head phone jack may negatively influence my decision to go from a 6 to a 7. Just saying)

You're right. You should ditch the iPhone. Then when all the other manufacturers follow apple's lead like they always do and remove theirs, just ditch phones altogether.

I'm kidding of coarse. But this entire argument is based on rumors. We don't even know how legit they are. We won't know ANYTHING until September so let's wait awhile before we get out our pitchforks.

Heck, you can get a wireless bluetooth adapter and plug it into an AUX cable and have Bluetooth in your car. It's so easy and cheap. The adapter is like $15 or so and is battery powered.

Yeah, but then you couldn't go online and complain about how Apple was screwing you over.

nobody, since Apple is doing better than ever and better than any public corporation in the history of mankind under Tim Cook. it will continue with the 7, legacy 3.5mm port or no.

Apple sells 150 million iPhones a year. If just 10 percent of people reject the gelded iPhone, that's $12 billion in lost revenue. And they don't all have to jump ship to android, they could just hold onto the older phone another year to see what happens the the disaster is the same for Apple. And I think 10% is really on the conservative side. Do you really think the board will stand still for a decision that costs them $12 billion? Especially when nothing else is really working out for Timmy. The watch, the macbook, the ATV4. The iPad sales in the toilet?

Timmy has been making Apple more and more dependant on the iPhone and now he's going to pull the rug out from under it.

BT headphones are fine. if I needed more fidelity I'd use an adapter. yawn.

Good for you. I disagree, i'll use another phone first. And based on this thread, well over 10% of Apple fans agree with me. Outside the apple fan community it's going to be even more hated.

Where is the jack for headphones?
Why don't you read the article.

Less bezels? Where they gonna put the homebutton then?

You should take a statistics class. You don't wanna base ANYTHING on this thread. Small samplings, types of people replying, etc. Be careful how you form your opinions

Four years? The design that we have now is from 2014 for the iPhone 6.

Two tears. That's the same hardware design cycle (for major changes) the iPhone has followed since 2007.
If this case turns out to be accurate, the iPhones 6 through 7s (four years) would have pretty much the same design.
[doublepost=1457546795][/doublepost]
Yeah, they should totally make a different shape like triangular or round.

Really, outside, of subtle design improvements it is unlikely you will see radical changes to the design until technology overcomes some obstacles.
Which is why I would have liked to see a case that is smaller from the top, bottom, and sides, indicating smaller bezels.
[doublepost=1457546826][/doublepost]
Yeah, the media, which isn't privy to these case leaks and rumors the way we are, is going to be totally blindsided.

Trump: "This is has gone on long enough! I can assure you I'm a bigger man than Hillary Clinton will ever be. In fact, I can prove it!" (With short fingers, he begins to remove his belt.)

Announcer: "We interrupt our live coverage of the first Presidential debate to bring you important news. Apple has finally revealed their new iPhone. In a shocking twist, the new phone will be called the iPhone 6T, and will retain mostly the same dimensions as the iPhone 6S and speculation about next year's iPhone is going to be the subject of our two-hour special coverage starting tonight at 9 pm. We now take you live to Anderson Cooper, live on the scene at Apple's new "spaceship" campus. Anderson, what's the situation where you are?

Anderson Cooper: "The painters and landscapers here are going crazy since they heard the news. I've even heard reports of rioting inside the building. But that's nothing compared to the mayhem in and around the Moscone Center, where the announcement was made..."
Gotta admit, that elaborate post was pretty entertaining.

Don't be dense. The national media has always heavily covered iPhone launches. If rumors are true and if the phone remains mostly cosmetically similar to the 6/6S, the media will be all over it. Funny post though.

I can think of one. Possibly an oled screen for 2017 requiring a completely new case with Apple waiting on a complete redesign for it.

That's definitely a good possibility based on rumors released so far. Delays could have pushed back the true iPhone 7/next gen iPhone a year so this year's iPhone could in essence be an enhanced iPhone 6s, missing the antenna lines & protruding camera lens, eliminating the headphone jack for the purpose of technological evolution and adding the stereo speakers, slightly improved A10, etc. while next year's iPhone (maybe iPhone 8?) will introduce a true redesign with mLED, real wireless charging, etc.

I agree. I don't get it either. I'm not all that fussed about the lack of a headphone jack. I just use Apple headphones anyway. Only problem is, what if I want to listen to music AND charge my phone?

It will come with a Y adapter? Like the cell phone I had about 10 years ago that had only a micro USB port and no 3.5 mm audio port.

Keep in mind that the current iPod touch is significantly thinner than the iPhone 6 and it still has a headphone jack.

Seems more like a temporary adapter cash grab from Apple just like it was with the lightning adapter with the iPhone 5. It took at least 2 years for the 30-pin connector to die in accessories as well, but surely 3.5mm headphones will never die.

And don't give me that "there's not enough space for a headphone jack anymore if it's thinner!" bull **** because the iPod touch has similar hardware to the iPhone with the exception to some key components.

Additionally, according to rumors specified in this article, the space the headphone jack would take up will be replaced with something as unimportant as stereo speakers, which is unbelievably stupid.

I can't say I'll never buy a phone that has no headphone jack, but I'm sure not going to go out of my way to do it anytime in the next five years. Looks like I'll be stuck with upgrading to a 6-something and making it last as long as possible.

Yes. Because the cost of losing customers pissed About the lack of a headphone jack PLUS the bad PR about it is less than what they would earn in...adapters.

Jesus man where do people get these ideas from? The 30 pin connector was old technology that NEEDED to be updated.

There. I added whipped cream and a cherry to my post for you to emphasize your claim.

Me, Fred Flintsone, no like new iPhone...me like iPhone...advance it is with iPhone 1...me no like no adapter...
Me like adapter...yabba dabba doooooo!

On the serious note: it's another slim Jim beef jerky design.

I can tell you with certainty that the design has not been totally finalized. They haven't begun production on the external casing at this point (this from friends at Apple, though they're very close) and there's a reason you don't see the guys that made the case this article centered around, ramping up big production of it yet.

"Stereo speakers" seems funny when they're so close that no one will be able to differentiate between left and right channel. With placement that close, you won't be able to pick apart the two channels.

Werd. Apple sends specs out to many manufacturers. That's why places like Belkin can offer a case on release day.
