I know it's still early, but I'm still not hearing or seeing anything that makes me feel like it's worth upgrading from my 6, and the lack of a headphone jack still sounds like a good reason not to.
And when the competition removes their 3.5mm Jack? What will you do then?
Do you honestly think Apple would remove a universally used port, if the competition weren't also in a similar position of needing to remove their Jack as well?
I'm was actually incredibly relieved that the power button was on the side.Wow, I thought I was the only one cursing to this stupid design for having the power button on the opposite side of the volume button. How many times I thought that Ive is either losing it or he simply doesn't use the phone he designs. He probably thought that since the 6 is taller than 5, people would have a hard time reaching the power button at the top, so let's move it to the side. Guess what? Every time I want to adjust the volume, I end up squeezing the power button. Failed UI designed by the world renowned designer. It proves that even the best can make mistakes.
Yes. I think Apple would remove this even if the competition don't follow.
It's a truly stupid idea.
And before any tells me "HD audio is better" and "Bluetooth is better", go away and educate yourself through numerous discussions on this forum and elsewhere.
I'm going to discard over US$1,200 worth of headphones and earbuds because Apple wants to flex their muscles.
You talk of external DAC's. Yup, they sound great but lets take a top end mainstream solution from the likes of the Sound Blaster E5. Nothing top-end but it's not a bad external DAC. These sell for about US$200, so in order to enjoy my music, I have to spend another 200 bucks on a fiddly external product that I have to carry around with me.
What's more stupid is the fact that the iPhone will still carry a DAC in the circuitry to drive the pointless "stereo" speakers. It's beyond stupid and as I've said time and time and time again. It's all about Apple showing us a middle finger salute and sucking more money out of their customers.
Like I said. It's been emotional however nothing has been done yet so we'll just have to see if this is the end of my iPhone lifetime with Apple.
My sentiments exactly !
Argh.... WHY THE **** don't you put the best possible camera in BOTH ****ing models. Should costumers who don't want a ****ing huge 5,5" Phone suffer because of it? God damn cheap ass ****s.
the headphone jack is gone dude.....use the adapter and you won't have to trash $1,200 of anything
That's where an adapter comes inno headphone jack, no iPhone for me, ... I want to use my compression artifact free, and just working, also in an airplane mode, studio monitor headphones and I also want to share my other in-ears with microphone with other phones, etc.
First, this is still a rumor. Second why would anyone's first reaction be that Apple is intentionally trying to screw its customers? And third, who knew Sony was still in the phone business? Which leads to my follow up question, does this Sony phone have identical features and performance to the iPhone 6S? If not, then the comparison is pointless ... As is stereo speakers for that matter.
I will be the first to castigate Apple if they remove the 3.5mm Jack only to free up space to include a second speaker
Complainers gon' complain. You can't expect people to stop. If you know anything about consumers, you'd know...they're lazy. If they have to rethink the way they do things or if changing the way they do things would take an extra 1 minute of their time, they will freak.99.9% of Android phones do that ........ and actually iPhone need the "made for iPhone" while other phones works with whatever!!
I'd say it's the best reason to move from an Android device! /sarcasm
So it is not a major feature to you and yet :
Ya...keep trolling!
EDIT:
If you need a reason, there will be plenty of headphones with remote that will adopt lightning connector.... and if you have a good pair of headphones / in ear , chances are you can change the wire and voilà!!!

No hassle, no adaptor ....and you can keep enjoyoing the phone.....but then again complaining is easier and cheaper.
So, there's room for stereo speakers instead of a 3.5mm audio pin. I love it.
i wonder who the board will appoint as CEO to bring back the 3.5mm pin for the 7s.
But why?!! There is no logical reason to retire the 3.5mm jack.
And I'm certainly not going to trash $1,200 of audio gear. I'll just find another product that embraces quality. Something I thought Apple were all about.
I'll sell you the free one I get with my iPhone 7 for half that!!!
Btw, do you remember what it was that PT Barnum said about fools & money??
Lets go checkout that new S7!Looks like the 6s will be my last IPhone :-(
I know this is just a rumor but nothing can surprise me from Apple now. That's what happens when you make too much money and forget what innovation is...
I guess our generation is ok with mediocre sound
It's like surround sound when the speakers are...1 inch apart! Whoa!how much of a difference do stereo speakers even make when they are 1 in apart?
From all reports they will and add in their own BT headphones.Haha! You think Apples going to give you a "free" adapter?!
[doublepost=1457541615][/doublepost]
Lets go checkout that new S7!
So, what changes externally ? Is apple going to keep the same design for 3 years in a row ?
Think that's unlikely, millions will buy the 7 no matter whatFoolish. No headphone jack, no sale. Same sort of deal why I did not buy a MacBook (one stinkin' usb-c port). I bought a MacBook Pro instead. In the real world, people actually need connectivity to standard devices.
If this comes to fruition, expect iPhone sales to tank. Apple will then be inclined to take off the stupidity hat and restore the headphone jack with the "7s" model.
If the iPhone 7 resembles the 6 and is thinner , without the lines and protruding camera. I would also be happy with something like this( on the left)Think that's unlikely, millions will buy the 7 no matter what
