EASY method - New data plans to Unlimited

This worked like a charm, thanks for the tip! I am now officially unlimited data plan and not the automatically selected unlimited data plan.
It took 5 days before I was able to do that AFTER verifying my IMEI. When it finally went through I received an email with the subject of: Information about your AT&T plan. AT that point I was able to switch "unlimited to unlimited." After doing that switch 2 days later I got another "Information about your AT&T plan" email which reflected removing unlimited and adding unlimited.
just tried this. successfully switched to dumb phone with $30 plan for data. turned on my iphone and instantly got txt message from att. gonna give it a few hours. and log back in to see if i have unlimited plan options. ill keep yall posted. so far every thing looks just like the guide.

I was able to add my account (thank goodness) but now I cannot change my wife's. I did all of the same steps. I cannot think of ANYTHING else to do. Do you have any suggestions??? She got a text today that said something (not going to say for security reasons as I think AT&T is scanning) and the text had "for your iPhone" in it. Net, the system knows she is using her iPhone with a dumb phone plan, but it will not send her the two needed texts.

Still not working. I've called AT&T to change the IMEI this morning and added the unlimited basic phone data plan.... and changed the sim over to the iphone... OLAM shows the iphones but with the unlimited non smart phone plan. Data and text messaging still work. Could it be because I'm on a 0 month contract?
The data text shows 0 of unlimited...should I keep this option and see what happens when I actually do sign a contract? It seems it should work so easily but yet I'm not getting anything....

still waiting for my txt messages. i cannot get that ben thing to work on iphone 4 4.0.1. when i go to his page and try to grab the tether thing i just see the profile for att and i cannot click it. guess ill wait it out its only been 16hrs since i changed my phone over to the bumb phone.

I had ATT with the iPhone 2g, then 3gs, then I left for the EVO on Sprint (thus losing my unlimited plan.
I now am having doubts and want to return for an iPhone 4g.
I went to an ATT store today to see if I could "reactivate" my old account. The guy said no, I'm too far over the cancellation date (BTW, I paid a handsome ETF to ATT...).
He did say that there is a loophole for unlimited data. Buy an iPhone 2g online (craigslist, etc) and activate it on a 2nd line (my wife still has an iPhone). Then, you will have unlimited data.
At that point, he said to get an iPhone 4 and you will be grandfathered into unlimited data.
Of course I am skeptical, but I did get a 2g today for $100. I now need to go into an ATT store tomorrow to activate it on my wife's plan. At that point, I will then get an iPhone 4 and grandfather my unlimited data.
Will this work?

Thanks. I'm heading to the ATT store now to get a new SIM for the 2g. I will activate when I get home (through iTunes).
How long should I wait until I go back to the ATT store for an iPhone 4? I don't want to raise suspicion...(after all, I am following the advice of an ATT employee...)

That way if it mucks up, I'll cancel right on the spot and make the guy feel like a jerk for creating this mess. I'm optimistic, though.
Yes and no, I was able to get the unlimited data for my non-smartphone, but I have yet to get the unlimited data for my iPhone 4. I can use the internet on my iPhone 4 and can receive text messages, however i'm still waiting for the 2 text messages from AT&T to come.
My bro just did this, he followed the instructions and got the two text that said an iPhone plan was automatically selected. He logged into his OLAM and it still showed "Messaging & Data Unlimited: Quick Messaging/Basic Phones" for $30. It's been 2 days now and 3g still doesn't work. Did anyone experience this and resolve it?
I changed the IMEIs back to the iphones and then I had to call a day later to change them back to the dumbphones. I called at 11 pm last night and just got the text messages right now at 7 am. My first line shows the ability to select the 2nd 3G unlimited data plan but the unlimited option is not showing up on the second line. I will wait a few hours to see what happens. Thanks for the help everybody. At least I will get unlimited data on one phone. I will keep trying on the second line if it doesn't happen today.

i signed up for service yesterday 10/15 and brought two IMEI numbers of a STANDARD PHONE in and asked tthem to sign me up for the family unlimited talk plan. they gave me two sim cards..
I went home and called in to customer care and told them I wanted to add the $30 unlimited messaging and data plan. I saw it on OLAM for both account.
Got off the phone and made a phone call with the new sim in the iphone..
3 hours later still no text messages.
i called back and told them I wanted to sign up for the 2GB iPhone Data last night. data was working again of course with visual voicemail because i am on the correct plan now of course.
I called back this morning (10/16) and told them I wanted to switch back to my original standard phone, gave them IMEI, and told them to add $30 unlimited data and text plan.. verified on OLAM its there.. made phone call with iphone..
Now iphone works with $30 data and text and I didnt even have to use the help.benm.at website..
Did I just figure out a new loophole in the system thats allowing me to use the $30 standard phone data and sms plan with my iphone? Also if not when should I expect the $30 unlimited plan.. will this work?

It can take up to 5 hrs...or even 24 hrs for some people. And my instructions never said to buy 2 sim cards and such so I'm not sure if you followed them exactly?
Do you know if it will work for two lines? The first line on mine worked perfectly but the second is not showing it. Should I wait? I've called AT&T 5 times in the past 4 days... I don't want to raise too many flags... LOL. I will call them tomorrow to change both IMEIs to Iphones.
