EASY method - New data plans to Unlimited

No, data is not going to work until you get the texts and your plan is switched over for iphone data. gadget88 posted a method to get data back temporarily(?) but I couldn't get it to work. It's in the first few pages of this thread.
I just did it yesterday. Just follow the instructions step by step n the first page and it will work.
Will this work for getting the unlimited $20 data plan on a 2g iphone or can that be added through the website?
What if the iphone is unlocked and jailbroken--does that make a difference? (ie, does the unlocking process prevent AT&T from forcing a data plan on me?)

I told them with all the issues going on (with the iPhone), I'm going to return it and go back to a regular phone for now.
P.S. I don't think telling them it was stolen is a good idea. I wouldn't want to take a chance that they could block the IMEI. (I really don't know if they do that or not. Just saying.)

I tried it a few minutes ago. I verified the data plan matches the $30 dumb phone plan from page 7. I hope it works.
It looks like the loophole might have been plugged with all of the negatives from today.
The woman on the phone argued with me hard about the SIM not working in the new phone but I finally talked her into it. My hands were shaking by time I was done. lol

I was on the phone with the tech this morning to have my phone reactivated. In the middle of the call I got the text messages. Probably because he reactivated my IMEI. Then he puts the 2 GB plan back on my phone. Now I'm going to have a crazy bill for nothing.

I just called and got unlimited text and data for no smart phone for $30 added to my account. Made a couple of calls just waiting on the text now

Any luck? If not, hang up after they enable your phone but before they ask you which data plan you want. I think mine would have worked if I hadn't waited on the phone.
called twice and got same answer, they can't give me unlimited because my unlimited plan is for a regular phone and it's a media unlimited and i can't be considered to be grandfathered.
They told me if i keep using the iphone my data plan will switch to the 25$ a month 3g plan within 1 or 2 days.

I haven't got any text messages yet I will give them a call in a min. to see what happens and will report back with the out come.
Just called att because I had not got a text message since I changed the phones. I told the guy I wanted to activate my i4 and he said that I couldn't keep the unlimited data because it was for a basic phone and not an iphone. I will have to try it again at a later date or maybe another route.

I'm not sure if I'm in an extended area or not I have the $15 text plan before I switched and I checked my account online and it says I have the $30 unlimited text and data for basic phones
If you have a jailbreak phone, u need to restore it. Otherwise, once u insert your 4g sim, ur 2g need to be activated on itune.
