I am not having any success. It has been about 14 hours and I have yet to get the 2 text messages. I have no data on the iPhone. Ahould I reset the network settings? What should I do?

So after gearing my iphone I gave my old black berry 8110 to my gf. She doesn't have a data plan. Under her OLAM it used to give her the 2gb and 200mb option, however I checked today and she doesn't have these options, only an unlited data option for $30! My sis has the same setup on my family plan and its the same story with her line and options. So some one should try switching to a BB then add unlimited data them move back to iPhone And report back

What kind of phone did you get IMEI number from?

I have the same problem.
I called them and found that my IMEI number (old tmobile phone) is recognized as unknown phone. I updated them with iphone's IMEI number and hang up abruptly as I saw in this forum but this did not work either. I will buy GoPhone on my way home and try once more. I assume that unknown phone does not switch to iphone automatically when we make a call with iphone.

Just in case, anyone willing to PM me 'worked' IMEI number so that I don't need to buy?

Then,, maybe my assumption is wrong. :(
I called and asked them to check the IMEI number and they told me it was unknown phone.
I have no idea... no more thing to try.

how long since you made the switch? I logged into my OLAM and it still shows the $30 plan for the non smart phone

you dont need to buy the go phone, i believe the imei number is visible on the package, just go to store and call att from there or write down the imei

Yes, I was thinking of it.

But it does not guarantee the success either... :(

1) It was a few pages back, but make sure you're on the $30 unlimited data/text for non-smartphones and not the $10 unlimited data $20 unlimited text plan. It works out to be $30 either way, but the latter doesn't seem to work.

2) Make sure you have wifi off and use your iphone. At least make attempts to use data, even if your data isn't working.

any thoughts on why it's not working?

I did both, I will post a screen shot of my plan in a second

It would if you didn't turn off unlimited family text messaging before changing your IMEI.

I called them again, and realized they had wrong IMEI number. No, actually, they said they did not have any IMEI number for my line, neither from dumbphone, nor iphone.

I don't know how this is possible, but I asked them to have IMEI from dumbphone again (and didn't change $30 unlimited plan), hoping this time i get txt.

So far (about 3hrs) no text message for me. I can use WIFI & texting but no data if I go out.

I started with a Moto Krzr that has had the $30 plan for about 3 days. It was my temporary phone from when I sold my 3GS but I recently added the $30 plan to it. Today I got my IP4. I put the SIM in a SIM cutter (too lazy to wing it) and put it in the new iPhone. SIM works fine but so far nada from AT&T. Worse case I'll probably just stick with 200 megs if this fails but I'm trying it just for the principle since I did have "unlimited" until I sold my 3GS a month or so ago.
