That was my initial hunch.I'm not convinced we've seen the last of the "+"
I think ADs are coming and the AD-free (or with less ADs) version will eventually be called Apple TV+

i mean i don't even really like apple TV that much but saying no one uses it is a huge stretch considering apple tv+ has multiple award-winning original films and series. they have at least 25 million according to reports, and apple says it's 45 million. It might confuse the only two users the service has.
You mean Logic Pro?Logic was the one thing I couldn't find in his comments. Other than that, his explanations were great!
"We just decided," he told host Matthew Belloni.
I've never called it Apple TV 4K, as I figure that is a mouthful. I'm not entirely sure that's a great reason to clear up confusion.Cue argued that the Apple TV box is actually named the Apple TV 4K nowadays.
Maybe they call it that internally, but I doubt the average non-Apple employee calls it Apple TV 4K, unless they’re trying to sound like a walking advertisement.I've never called it Apple TV 4K, as I figure that is a mouthful. I'm not entirely sure that's a great reason to clear up confusion.
Spot on.It’s astonishing that someone in such a position of power has never taken two seconds to consider the many contradictions in their TV branding strategy. He says that their app on third-party devices is already called “Apple TV” but that’s simply not true!
The app that provided access exclusively to their subscription service was called Apple TV+. This is what I had on my Xfinity set-top box. It doesn’t let you watch your purchased TV shows and movies.
The app that provided to all your purchased content, as well as the subscription service, was called Apple TV.
There was absolutely a distinction between the two and now it will be impossible to tell the difference without investigating whether the app supports your purchased content or just the paid service.
It’s just baffling that such a well-paid person can’t understand such obvious problems he is creating.
Quite.I don't think anyone ever calls the hardware 'Apple TV 4K' unless you work in an Apple Store or write tech reviews.
Honestly, I don’t think that “+” was doing much to avoid confusion.Nonetheless, the new name may cause confusion, as there is now an Apple TV streaming service, an Apple TV app, and Apple TV hardware.
