Maybe they took all the pre orders money and just starting to get the renders off the drawing board. Pretty smart. Don't have money to cover operating costs so thus taking in pre order money to cover ha!

This may be "smart" for them, but a real risk for their customers, IF this is how the are starting their business. If they are short of enough cash to even get the ball rolling, customers are shouldering their risk. Not good business.

lol

You need to grow up. Do you realize what it takes to outsource CNC work? The costs associated with it? It takes time to meet with 3-4 companies to see who can do the work...negotiate the price. Those outsourcing companies have to get ideas on how long it will take to cut, how much materials are and if they will take that big or small of a job. It can take a week for each company to get back with you.

Then...these things have to get anodized. Its doubtful that the machine shop will do the anodizing process...so that would have to be sourced as well. The guy who is building these now would have to hope he has a good idea on how many to order. If he orders 1000 and only had 500 orders...he has to foot the bill for 1000 which could render him with no profit. Hell, he could lose money.

Then if he underestimates, you are going to bitch because yours wasnt in the first run at the machine shop and will have to wait a couple weeks for the outsourced company to get more materials, finish the job that they are working on now, then do another run where the Element can possibly lose money AGAIN.

LOL

These are the things you do before offering product to the public, not after. Risk is part of being in business. If you are not willing to take any risk, forget being a business owner and be happy as an employee for someone who took the risk. If owning or starting a business was a sure thing, everyone would be in business for themselves and there would be no employees.

After looking at the renders again i'm kind of confused...

If say I wanted the anodized black, would the entire bumper be black or only the right side that gets screwed on? Just from looking at the pictures again all the bumpers are silver with the right side being the only color option.

But their website also indicates a black/black option... Does that mean the black is the only model that would have the option of being completely one color?

If you look at the Black and Red rendering you will see the larger part of the case is black and the smaller red. It is indicated as "Black/Red" in the options (drop down menu on their site). So it stands to reason the silver and black (as indicated in the latest email pic) is annotated as "Silver/Black" ....which it is. So if you order "Black/Black" your going to get an entirely black case.

In summary the first color is the large part and the second color the smaller

It's a good looking case, but I'm not convinced that it won't hurt reception given that it is metal and how Apple designed the antenna. If it were a large company I might be tempted to pre-order, but since you're dealing with someone operating out of their house how easy do you all think it's going to be to return it if it kills reception?

they did have a public product before and were able to handle the orders but I guess this one just blew up on them. I'm sure at 80-100bux a pop they never expected to sell thousands of units in a weekend let alone ever. Now we wait as they gear up to supply us. I'm patient, I dont even have an iPhone 4 yet so time is kinda on my side at the moment.

Hope they start shipping soon! The wait is annoying.

Looking back on what was said earlier you are in the second batch lineup anyways, so this delay isn't hurting you anyways. You were supposed to get your order in August, not July 12. Now that they have increased production you should receive it before August. You should be happy about this.

These are hand crafted if im not mistaken. meaning a human must make each case. so therefore it should not be unreasonable to think that they are able to leave the logo off of certain orders.
Highly unlikely. These will be made using CNC and not by hand. You place the block of aluminum into the machine and the computers take over. The logo might also be done with the CNC machine so unless they make a run leaving that process out they will all have the logo. They could be stenciled on as well. Other than early requests don't expect to receive one without the logo. If I owned that company I would not accept requests for no logos. It's marketing 101, have your logo prominently displayed on your products. ;) Could you imagine buying an Apple product without the logo?

I ordered on the 4th though, which means I should be in Julys orders, July = July. Right?

Not quite.....Your order was in the #4000 block, right? Mine is 4400 block.

Another forum member stated this earlier.......

2nd batch was supposed to be August. Now it is pushed up to July.

But those order numbers don't indicate Vapor only orders, those numbers are for the whole company.

Yes, I agree it could be different. But that forum member stated that his order number was #395*. This means that we are both behind him in line. If he is 2nd batch then we can't be ahead of him in the line.

Somethin's fishy, there's no way there was that much demand for this on day one... I'm guessing alot of people signed up to pre-order then decided not to.

I'm sure a lot of people signed up for the pre-order notification, but I'm talking about actually order numbers. It is what it is. Batches might be done by 500's. Like order numbers 3400-3900 are first batch and 3901-4400 are batch number 2. Who knows, but if that forum member is correct and his order number is before ours then we were never meant to get ours on day one.

Patience is a virtue. It's much more fun to stay positive about a product than questioning everything that a home based company might be doing wrong or different than how a large company works.

Doesnt matter too much for me, I'm waiting to see how the Apple conference goes tomorrow before I order my phone anyways. :D

I pre-ordered but they haven't asked for money yet.

Did you order? or just request a pre-order email? For the rest of us, we requested a pre-order and then they sent out an email with instructions on how to order and you pay with PayPal so they would have your money if you really ordered.

Troop231, then why the rush? At least I have the phone, and I'm still not freaking out yet. If you got it on the 12th would have just stared at it everyday? Or were you planning on getting the iPhone 4 when you found a suitable case?

Eh idk, just felt like being the first one to post pics, judge the build quality etc. Hopefully Apple doesn't announce anything big tomorrow.

eh, I can't recreate the death grip problem on my phone or my wife's iphone 4. I have yet to drop a call on it. I would drop a call at least once or twice a day with my 3GS. I'm down for a free bumper or something. LOL.

even if steve jobs tells the world to got **** themselves I'll still grab an iPhone and wait for my element case...**** it...I'll jam my 3GS in it if I have to!

Lol, I already have a Zagg IS waiting just in case the Element case gets delayed later.

I got a BSE, iLuv Edge bumper style case, screen protector and the damn vapor on order...waiting....waiting....waiting!!!

Seems like you're fully stocked for the war lol. I wasn't going to buy the Zagg until I got a 50% code, which I did, which made it completely worthwhile.

I'm #3160 and when I spoke to them on the phone they also told me I was in the 2nd batch of orders and will receive at the end of July. Come to think of it do we know any forum members that were in the first batch? I think they told all the early preorders they were in the 2nd batch, this might explain the 2nd email we received.
