I don't have a problem with being patient but I don't like feeling like they aren't being honest with the customers. We have all been told some have been shipped and phase 2 will go out this week. It seems pretty obvious that none have even been sent out. It would just be nice to get a straight and honest answer from them about what is going on.

Anyone who has been reading this thread can easily discern that the July 12th shipping date as posted on their website didn't happen. No, shipping notices and no pics of the vapor 4 in the wild. For all have you who posted after having contact with Element and were told that some orders had shipped than it's clear that you were misinformed. I don't like waiting a long time for the things I want. I was really hoping to have my case for the iPhone 4 release here in Canada on Friday. That being said I totally believe that this is a legit company that makes really nice high end stuff. I'm going to wait it out because nothing out there even compares to it based on what little of it we have seen. They are clearly having a problem producing this item in mass quantities. If they are taking time to prefect it I guess we will all have to be cool with that or ask for a refund ( which they seem to have been excellent at returning ).
If good things come to those who wait than we are in for a really cool 1 of a kind case.

I emailed them and offered them 150.00 to put me to the front of the line and ship me a case ASAP. They didnt bite, which means they are not in it to scam or steal money apparently, but no case still.

Or it was just too obvious of a bait.

Bait them for what? There would be nothing sketchy if they had taken ur 150 and u were te first to receive one. As an employee of a legitimate machine shop, I can tell u we take extra money for jobs that need a quick turn around. It's called an expidite fee. Normal lead time is 3 weeks, if u need it in 4 days, it's gonna cost u. Simple supply and demand.

Thats when working with private businesses mostly. Try that **** at a retail store and watch the manager look at you funny and laugh.

Getting a prototype on the tool and cut is a lot different then buying something off the shelf.

Element Case says the first batch shipped out last week, why hasn't ANYONE gotten anything then?

Then they say "once we have time to catch our breath" we will post up a picture? It takes a few minutes at the most to take and post a picture on a website... and this was almost a week ago.

If they are really producing these things all day, everyday... then they should be shipping daily and not in huge "batches", they are a small company, why stockpile a bunch of units up and ship them at once? Its not like they are Apple sending hundreds of thousands iPhones / iPads over from China on big pallets. Their stories make absolutely no sense.

For this to work they would actually have to have some product to ship. Since no one on this forum seems to have seen anything other than a picture of a mock-up, there is serious doubt by many the cases even exist.

I'm not really surprised that production maybe more tricky than they thought. Apple with thousands of employees and scientist can't figure out how to make a white IPhone. Now, that's scary!

Don't know if this has been posted yet but I just found it -- its an interview with the founder of Element Case.

http://www.testfreaks.com/blog/interview/interview-with-jeff-sasaki-ceo-of-element-case/

Most likely he just got in over his head by trying to be the first big, cool, "antenna fix" case on the market in the very short time after the iPhone 4 was released. He got some cool renders created, everyone falls in love, thousands of preorders, then he realizes that its not as easy to produce as he thought? Just a hunch, but he seems pretty unexperienced... in his interview there he said it used to take a whole day to produce a custom Element Case?

:) :)

Regarding the first sentence, they should not have taken "pre-orders" or accepted money until they were properly sure. Perhaps the manufacturing process has resulted in an imperfect fit or rough edges, whatever. This is simply speculation.

They should have attempted to behave like a legitimate, serious, operation like www.iskin.com who are not taking orders but simply have an option to be notified when they are available.

Yeah, its kind of telling when a small company run by a few guys takes preorders a week after the iPhone 4 released... meanwhile larger established companies like iSkin and InCase still aren't accepting them almost a month later.

True.

But this is not your typical retail store. First the manager at a retail store would not consider your request because he is not allowed to give deals (by order of most companies). Second, most retail stores have such a large operation, and they have no hand in making their own products, that it's not even feesable to get products to certain customers sooner than others.
This is a small company where the owner is still very involved. And if they ever figure out how to make this case properly they will be shipping them as they make them. Making the notion of paying extra money, for a better spot in line, not so out of the question. This is the same thing my company does everyday.

But this all pointless as they aren't gonna do that cuz who knows if they will ever make this case. Maybee I should try and figure one out at my shop. Take all their business

Personally, I believe the Element Case guys much more than Ivyskin. At least they have been somewhat communicative and while they said htey were going to ship some out, they never printed up fake shipping labels to trigger a tracking number and continue to act like the cases actually did ship when after more than a week, they definitely would have arrived all over the continental US by now.

Heck, I am currently unemployed and if Element was to pay my ticket and give me a place to crash for a week or two, I would gladly fly out there and do whatever they wanted for free as long as they let me post a picture or two. That way they could concentrate on making the cases and I could put up s couple of cool shots of stuff coming off the production line (or single machine ;) )

Tell your company to buy the 3d renderings online and I will pay you 150.00 to get me a case..Problem solved.

I've been following this thread, just dropping in from time to time and I'm pretty shocked that almost 1,500 posts later, there's nothing to see.
