I registered for the pre-order, but didn't get an email with the code informing me it was time to pre-order. I saw the code posted on here, so I went ahead and ordered anyways. LOL.
F.W.I.W. I placed my order on July 1st. and received the e-mail with the ordering instructions that same day and placed my order (Black / Black). On July 3rd. I showed a freind the companies web site and she signed up for the pre order and has not received the e-mail with the ordering instructions. We also noted that on July 3rd. their web site stated that the first group of pre orders were sold out and they were taking pre orders for the next group (August I think).
I beleive sometime between late in the day July 1st. (when I placed my order) and July 3rd. is when ELEMENT Case stopped accepting pre-orders for July and sending out the ordering instruction e-mail as well. The way I see it is that this was how the company was trying to control the order process based on their production limitations.
I noticed sometime during this period between July 1st. and July 3rd. several people posted a copy of the e-mail that they recieved with the link to the ELEMENT Case on-line store showing how to place an order. This was posted on this forum board as well as 2 others that I frequent as well. It only stands to reason that many placed their order without receiving the official ordering instructions e-mail from ELEMENT Case due to this link being posted on public message boards.
Many here (and on other forums) are upset because they sent money (via credit card) and were charged for their order but never received the ordering instruction e-mail but used the link that was posted instead. There are also many here (and on other message boards) that are unaware that many web based stores are set up so that when you place an order the processing software that the web base store uses automaticaly moves the funds you agreed to directly into their account weather the product you ordered is in stock or not. It appears that it took ELEMENT Case a few days to realized this and has shut the link that was posted to their store down for the Vapor 4 case.
It would be interesting to know what percentage of people (here and on other message boards) placed their order incorrectly thus creating a bigger problem for the company than was first realized. I personally feel that ELEMENT Case can take as long as they need to ship my order in light of the production problems they are having due to this problem and problems they have discoverd with their design.
By the way, what does F.W.I.W stand for? I've not seen that acronym before. Thanks
While I am anxious to have one of these cases, I would rather have one that won't harm reception, fits the phone like a glove without scratching it and feels good in my hand rather than one that does not meet those standards because it was rushed to production. I am hopeful that Element Case is doing all that they can to make us a killer iPhone accessory.
OK. Now let's see the shock absorbing material that people are expected to pay for.
Delays are perfectly understandable. It's their ridiculous hesitation in demonstrating the advertised functions that pisses everyone off.
One month in, I still haven't a clue which headphone jack cutout I should expect. The ones on the black/black and black/pink renders that covers the noise cancelling mic? Surely, that can't be right.
I still don't understand why you would want this case aside from aesthetics. It truly offers no protection for the phone. If you drop the case, the front and back can still get scratched, but the biggest thing is that it's made of metal. Every ounce of the impact will be transferred to the phone immediately. The apple bumper is made out of silicone to absorb the impact of a drop to protect it. This does exactly the opposite, it transfers every part instead of absorbing.

Sorry mate, I don't work for ElementCase so I can't show you the shock absorbing material.
I guess it boils down to the fact that this group is divided into two (or more lol) camps:
Those that are ok paying and then patiently waiting for Element to to perfect their case
And
Eunuch trolls.
+1 on what the VP is thinking. While I agree the Vapor will not provide the best protection aluminum is soft and will absorb some of the impact if dropped. If we ever see this case, and I think we will, and it looks as cool as I think it will I'll buy one.the VP at my office who probably has $ to burn told me, "it just looks cool. I'll have something that looks cooler than my kids i4 cases..."
so... i agree this is a very high ticket item, i'm no VP and I do think it looks cool but I can think of other things to spend my $ on. but who knows, when this thing finally comes out and we get some youtube reviews up I may change my mind. If and when my VP gets his I'll get a better handle on what this is all about...but at this time I see it no more than a cool looking gimmick.

Those who think it's poor practice to introduce a case, sell pre-orders, not ship them (which is illegal btw) lie to customers about the delays and shipping, and basically use the pre-order dollars as venture capital.
