The initial review was poor. But that aside, the real life pictures make it look like a cheap end product and not the sleek, beautiful piece of art that the renders portrayed. From what I can see, definitely not worth $80 for the bumper case and $20 for that back skin.

how can you judge on shakey cell phone camera quality pics?

What the hell are you talking about? He was given a product to use, and he explained why the product was bad...what more do you want? Signal tests and proof that the phone with the case wont fit in the dock? perhaps a detailed ten page report with pictures and math problems?

Because the review wasn't favorable like so many hoped for. Plain and simple.

iLounge usually has pretty descent reviews. I mean when it comes down to it some of what said is still opinion and preferences but it definitely doesn't look worth $80. I want to see better pics because one thing about ilounge is they seem to always have dust particles on the phone and cases so hopefully somebody will post here and some reviews go up on YouTube soon or something.

This reminds me of
" I'll never buy an iPhone. Its not a REAL smartphone. No multitasking. No flash. No......."

Sadly apple caved in and added multitasking. I'm sure they doubled sales with all the holdouts:rolleyes: they are going to add flash next update to pull the remaining smartphone market.

Well if people don't like the case I guess they will be getting a lot of returns in the next couple weeks. Expectations are very high obviously with us all waiting so long and spending so much money on it.

Im going to wait and see till after work if some forum members here have posted any reviews and High Quality pics.. before I determine if I really want to do a chargeback.

Still looks nice but the cheapo carbon fiber sticker is a complete rip off. For something that costs that much, one would've hoped that the carbon fiber back would've been like an insert or something within the case.

its actual carbon fiber, not a sticker...sure it doesn't slide in to and lock in to the frame itself but its still a real piece of carbon fiber

Wow, I dodged a bullet..... and didn't order.

Metal surrounding the antenna???? seriously? The thing is made out of machined aluminum...did you think the thing was plastic the entire time? C'mon

Tiny screws and a wrench???? Did you even look at the pictures on the website? It has shown screws the entire time...

A $20 sticker for the back???? It's piece of carbon fiber with a 3m type backing...It does look odd though from those pictures at iLounge

Won't fit in a dock????? Now this is legitimate.

What I am not happy with is the crappy looking foam...seriously. I was hoping for some type of rubber lining. But I'm wondering if Element just sent this reviewer some prototype since he mentioned some changes would be made to the foam.

Its just my initial perception based on the pictures given. Perhaps we will see something more impressive from a forum member.

I've got the black/ red coming - didn't get it this morning since the post office was jerky, but it'll get here in the afternoon. The second it does, I'm taking 5MP pics with my cybershot from every angle - oh, and i'll actually clean my iphone and take off the dust-covered screen protector, not rip it out of the box and assemble the product incorrectly to take some crappy photos and look like i'm the "first" reviewer.

Having said that, i really want to see how close the lining of the frame covers the phone - the pics they have sent all look like it's very snug, and in this one it looks like he's put in something wierd to make it look cheap. EC simply wouldn't do such a lousy job of fitting something they've been working on for a month, but it's so hard to tell with those crap photos. They shouldn't have sent one to him.

The carbon fiber back is $20.... Let me repeat it is $20...What in gods name do you want for $20????? Most carbon fiber back stickers are $15-$20 and they are not even REAL carbon fiber... this is the last thing people should be complaining about... Instead lets look into the issues of signal quality and foam liner.

Does the Postal Service not realize that the fate of the Vapor and Element Case rests in your hands?

Just read the ilounge review -- ouch!

Back when I ordered i called element (they answered the phone back then) and ask them about oversized headphone jacks, line out dock connector accessories, etc. They said they had tested it with many headphone jacks but the guy seemed clueless that non-apple dock connecting cables are not the same size as apple ones.

Here's the thing. The headphone problem can be fixed via a short accessory. But the line out problem is major. If you can't use your iPhone car accessory cable, for example, without having to remove the phone from this case -- including moving four screws! -- well then the phone can't be used in your car.
So that dock connector problem has broader implications. If it means it can't be used in the apple dock well duh that's no surprise. But if it means you can't use non-apple dock connector cables well for me that's a deal breaker.

And the signal issue -- if true, yikes!

Awaiting customer reviews now but not looking good at the moment.

Sigh. With all the anticipation it was bound to be a letdown on some level but this seems like a set of serious issues.

Btw I don't always agree with ilounge (they hate all flip cases for example) but they are very knowledgable and I think appropriately biased towards preserving full functionality of the phone over fashion, etc.

Before everyone goes ballistic - iLounge always rips apart Element products. There are another dozen or so reviews coming from people who will spend more than five minutes pulling something out of a box and writing a few nasty lines about it.

Also, I have it on good authority that EC did a tweak to the vapor designs going to customers that both fixes any signal interference and includes more padding on the inside of the frame.

I have it on good authority you work for element, pretty obvious.

I have nothing to add except I wanted to be the one to push this thread to 100 pages!!!!

Rats. Didn't work. That distinction now will go to someone else!

I wish they woulda said if it came w/ a few extra screws. I lose things.

Almost noon...surprised no one else has one yet.

Its sad really, this case had the potential to be the raddest, coolest case available for iPhone 4. If the pictures that iLounge released accurately depict the finished product, then what a let down. :(

i'm sure some forum member pics will be up shortly. this will be a more "true" testament to this so called case. but i agree, those ilounge pics do not show this case in a good light at all. looks cheap big time.
