Yeah. I returned my blackops based on the fact that it had bad gps signal. I would have lived with it but after paying $90 for the Vapor 4 and that was a bi fail I didn't feel like $150 is worth it for a case that didnt give 100% gps signal.

One of the other member chris reported that the gps works better on the knock off so I'm trying it out. So far so good. And the build quality is just as good if not better than original (fits more snug and no gaps)

Yeah, knock off vapor cases also work pretty well, just make sure get a quality one, you know there are several kinds of knockoffs, I got mine here , pretty happy so far, though the price is not the cheapest.

more limited editions again?

Regarding the new venom pro, I'd rather elementcase dedicate their resources to let us consumers, customize both the spectra and matte versions according to our preferences.

IMHO, an all matte version with the transparent polymer cap is my favorite combo..

I think it all depends on your location whether you take a hit on the GPS. Where I live when I'm in the city, I'm more likely to lose the GPS lock with the case, then when I have much more clear line of site.

I'm not sure what the quality is, it is just a news I come accross, so I share it to you here, good or not, depent on you, isn't it?

Thanks for the comparo mate, seems like chris975d nailed it, knockoff is better for GPS than original......just got mine (knockoff) too, will test it out thoroughly before reporting. :)

Ok, here's what I got with my Black Ops case on. I don't use GPS often, but here are some screen shots.

The first three (Bad, Poor, Good) took about 20 seconds to get a good GPS lock. Note that this was in a stopped car, under a tree, surrounded by tall buildings, and not necessarily under clear sky (the App's disclaimer indicates that you'll get the best GPS fix when you have clear view of the sky).

However, when the car was moving with a good GPS fix, it stayed consistent. The video is here:
http://youtu.be/dQagDbjFA70

Indoors, by a window in a building, the reading came up as a "Poor Fix".

This is hardly reliable science, but I hope it's somewhat helpful! LOL

Generally, I don't use GPS often, if at all, so the GPS performance is sufficient for me.

Thanks a lot for that. That was very helpful.
With the AR15-V the best I could get was 50m horizontal accuracy.

Was this last pic taken indoors?

Just took delivery of my Vapor Pro Spectra*, Have to say that at present I have had no issues with signal be it Edge, 3G, Wifi or GPS.

I have rigorously tried the GPS over the last couple of hours with a TPU bumper case, without a case and with the Vapor pro, and the phone works fine.

Tried the Sat nav with the case on and set a course from "A to B" but purposely when via "C" and the phone perfectly tracked me numerous times and recalculated new courses.

The case is very well finished off, nice feel in hand and very light without adding too much bulk.

Couple of things though, the "red" is not as vibrant as I would like, and the screwdriver is bent but what do you expect for $35

I am contemplating however getting a different colour, but overall very happy.

Can someone tell me if this a knockoff Vapor Pro Spectra?

Hi, I recently purchased this Vapor Pro Spectra case from an eBay seller and it looks legit until I started to look at it very closely. Especially, the writing on the side of the case looks different and out of place from other genuine photos that I have seen in this thread. The certificate looks real but I am not sure since there is one minor change when I compare it to my Black Ops certificate of authenticity. Is this case real or fake? If so, I need to launch an immediate dispute with the seller on eBay. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Here are some of the photos that were posted by the seller:

I'd venture to say that's fake. All of the authentic Vapor Pros I've seen (including mine) have a black SpeedWrench. I also have a fake, and it's SpeedWrench is silver like yours, as is the case with all the fakes I've seen.

Added: And looking at your pictures even more, I'd certain it's fake. The clear polymer piece on the left side is too short. The only "official" case from Element that had a polymer piece that short was the "FE" (First Edition), which was discontinued a while ago.

Thanks, chris975d. I sent a letter of dispute to the seller for his deceptive post and sale. He is selling other knockoffs and claiming that they are genuine when they are fakes. I have a enough proof to back up my claims if I have to enter into a dispute.

I like the authentic Vapor Case, if my iPhone would make and hold calls, I'd buy one.

Oh well, there's always iPhone 6 (possibly), I'm passing on the next one while Apple sorts things out using everyone but me, to be their beta testers. :)

No problem! Glad I could help.

does anyone know if sendstation has improved their dock extender to work with the vapor 4 yet. or is there any other dock extender that would work?

Ask yourself this question - how much does this retail for, and how much is this seller asking?
If there is a discrepancy, it's most likely a fake.

Trite, but true - If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck ... it's probably a duck. Even if it still looks like a toaster. He might just be wearing a costume and have bread stuck to his head.

true but iv seen things cheaper on ebay than what they retail for i just though some one here might have bought on from the seller before because it seems he sells alot of them.

Incredibly funny and Oh so true.

Yes ,when I enter in home ....why?

Because 10m hotizontal accuracy for the gps indoors with the pro on is good. That's all.

The user above managed to get 30M in the car (while driving 40mph)

So I am looking to get an alum case.. looking at electron or element.... electron has those plastic things to keep the metal away from the metal..

this has prob been discussed but how does element work? I have not seen any pictures of the insides.. I think they clip on the glass or?

THANKS!

The Vapor Pros have an aerospace polymer piece that covers the antennae on the metal band. There are also foam paddings in the interior of the case to help prevent the case from coming in contact with the metal band on the phone.

Larry Greenberg's review of the First Edition provides a good tour of the case's interior here:

Note that the Vapor Pro First Edition has a shorter polymer piece compared to the Vapor Pro Black Ops and Spectra models.
