After a couple days of use, I've seen absolutely no drop in signal. In fact, many times I have seen 4-5 bars. I am using a luckylabs decal around the edge and don't know if that makes a huge difference.

As far as signal goes, I have seen no change. GPS takes a minute, but it works too. No issues here as described in Larry Greenberg's review (whom I respect). Maybe the insulation inside is very important? lucky labs decal works for me. I have not used it without.

And here's proof!

It seems at first thought that it wouldn't make a difference, but it actually seems that it's a huge deal to have something in between the Vapor and the antenna itself. I've talked about how big of a change I had in mine after using a rubber tape all the way around the interior, but I also had a pretty remarkable improvement using just the Wrapsol skin around the antenna, and it's nowhere near as thick as the rubber I put inside the case. Probably only about twice as thick as those vinyl skins you're using. So, all in all, I think there really needs to be some type of lining inside the Vapor all along the inside of the case. Or something on the antenna itself. But, for an $80 case, I really think it's on Element to do this. Not the buyers.

Same here
5 days-75-85 calls
3,4,5 bars all the time
Not a single drop...

Is your data speed affected though? We've learned that bars don't tell the whole story. My data speeds fell dramatically with the stock Vapor installed with no modifications or antenna skins/vinyl installed, but the call quality and bars didn't drop a great deal (or even at all sometimes).

dont take it wrong but what kind of proof is that? I could go to downtown South Bend IN and take picture of my phone where 3G works just fine and it looks just like Yours.. As much as I want this case I can not deal with fact that GPS signal was unacceptable with this case.. I can not deal with fact that my GPS would go dead for few miles and then suddenly moved to some unknown position.. SOLD mine on ebay for $150 and I am happy with Incipio.

It's disheartening to see people getting their orders when I put my pre-order in July 29. But is more upsetting knowing people put their order in even before mine and still haven't heard anything. I got an email from Element (in reply to me asking when I could expect to make my full order) on Aug 21 and they said:

"We are currently taking orders from those who registered in mid July, so you will be on the next group based upon when you registered."

I'm feeling the need to send another email and see what is going on. (if they even answer). My guess, they'll say it's something to do with color combinations.

The only proof I'm providing is one contradictory to Larry Greenbergs review, possibly because of the lucky labs decal. There was no other reason for me to show that picture.

I sent them an e-mail like on the 16th and then got my status changed to
'awaiting shipment' from 'awaiting fulfillment'.

I sent them an e-mail on the 22nd, over the weekend and got my status changed again to 'shipped' - it then sat for a few days and according to the Postal service, went out on the 24th.

There was only a few color choices and you could be right on the reason for the delay. I was nice in my e-mails to them - I doubt that was a factor, but if I were them, getting hammered - I would not do anyone a favor that was busting me!

Yeah absolutely. I don't want to be a pain to them, but as others have stated it is odd and a pain to us orders made weeks later are shipping ahead of older ones. I was very nice in my first email and intend to be in my second as well.

Will update if anything changes. Hope you enjoy yours and it works well!

Silver

I hope someone can take a couple seconds to answer this. I really like the look of the silver. Is the silver anodized? Or is it the raw material just Brushed? I was wondering because aluminum being a relatively soft metal would show wear pretty quickly, but if it's anodized then hopefully it'll maintain it's appearance a little longer.

I'm really under the impression that my silver/silver is anodized. If it weren't anodized I believe you would acquire a residue of aluminum on your hands in time. But this maybe the case of a lower grade of aluminum. You may try to confirm with EC.

I have silver/silver. I can't be sure but it seems glossier than raw aluminum. I wish someone from Element Case could confirm.

Oops, just repeated Zornet's post that came up while I was posting.

Just got this.

Have added some 3m foam tape to the case. Impressions.
(A) I am in a very weak cell signal area. (Hills of New Hampshire) So far I have noticed very little difference in cell function. No dropped calls and normal operation.
(B) Wifi:No change with case. Very good speed.
(C) Bluetooth: Have bluetooth build into my car. It takes a bit longer for the bluetooth to connect, but after connection works normally.
(C) GPS: A bit of delay to find current position but after if locks in seems to be within about 50 feet.
(D) Headset: I use a Shure headset. I had to shave away a bit of the plastic to make the headset fit but no big deal.
(E) Quality & appearance: In my opinion there is nothing made that looks as good as this case. Quality of materials is great. I do not currently use any other chargers or third party devices but they as many have said could be a deal breaker for many people. The way I use the phone the case seems to function fine. For others this is obviously not the case. Enjoy.

Did you line it fully with 2 sided tape? Did you leave the paper on the phone side?

Nice color choice :) Does anyone notices duct collects in the SIM tray cutout?
I mean, it seems dust gets in the Vapor cutout and it's stuck in the SIM tray of the iPhone. Is this me or?!? :D
I am planning on using my Vapor case not with decals or 3M tape but with side protectors, like the ones for full body. I hear it might be a little tight but it fits!
I have seen that the Apple Bumper scratches the antenna pretty bad and don't want that to happen. I am not gonna risk it :D
So has anyone tried that combo out?!?

I used the tape only on the left side of the phone. (the Antenna side) Not sure if putting it on both sides will improve things or not. I did leave the paper on the tape.

I'm just curious if anyone is worried about stripping those little screws. Seems like the case is a tighter fit with the lining, which puts more pressure on the screws. If even one gets damaged, you would have a really hard time getting it off.

What do others think??

Well, folks, I just listed my Vapor in eBay. HOWEVER, NOT at all because of any reception issues. Really. I can say, with 100% honesty, that I saw for the last two days of regular use, not a single dropped call, and on average (at least every time I looked) only 1 bar less or no difference at all between my wife's 'naked' iPhone4, and mine with the Vapor installed, side by side compared. Didn't use GPS, so I won't even hazard an opinion. But in the end, I just like the phone better naked. Surprised me actually, I really, REALLY liked the Vapor when it arrived, and it certainly looks gorgeous installed. EVERYONE I showed it too were impressed and, as expected, oohed and ahhhed... but, call me crazy, I just plain prefer the iPhone 4, all around, as-is. I'll just take my chances and do my damnedest not to drop.

So, anyone wants one now, there's now an immaculate, very pretty silver/Silver on eBay at a very nice starting price ;)

Hahaha! I think that's funny, cause I've been worried I wouldn't be able to find a case like this for the next iPhone! Joking of course (but with some seriousness!), but I couldn't imagine my phone without it now. Haha. Well, good luck to ya man.

From the elementcase web: "Next, the finish of the Vapor case is anodized to create a hard protective coating in brilliant colors."
