You won't know of any radiation issues till years later.
When using iPhone near your body for voice calls or for wireless data transmission over a cellular network, keep iPhone at least 15 mm (5/8 inch) away from the body, and only use carrying cases, belt clips, or holders that do not have metal parts and that maintain at least 15 mm (5/8 inch) separation between iPhone and the body.

Hey guys,

I've been following this thread off and on for a couple weeks now. I figured I'd share my thoughts about the case now that I have played with it for a while.

I posted my review with some high resolution photos here: [link]

Use a thing like this for your headphone.

Also, use a car phone charger like this one, with the apple connector which works.

(Or don't use the vapor, but me, I'm going to use these things with my futur vapor4.. )

I take it you didn't like the numerous replies you had to your question .

Haha no, the replies were great thanks! It's just that comment made it appear that I need go no further then their website for information. I just wanted to point out how "accurate" some of their other statements were. Hence my need to ask questions of people who actually have a case.

Just a note, most of the good headphones have slim ports anyway. The old, thick ones are dying out.

And if anyone wants a sleeve to go over the phone and vapor, they can use the Waterfield Micro Suede Jacket from SFBags. Just make sure to buy the one to fit the bumper. It fits perfectly. It could be slightly longer, but it works great!

With most of your truly high end headphones, like Westone Ultimate Ears custom molds, they still all use thicker connectors. At least the two pair I've bought in the past 18 months have. But in that case, I guess spending a few more dollars for an adaptor isn't a big deal, as the headphones themselves are $700-$1300. But even lower priced headphones like Shure's 530s use fatter plugs. Unless they've changed very recently.

I guess it depends on what you're looking at. B and O's run smaller, and they are certainly top performers in sound quality. As do Bose.
If I was buying custom guy earphones I would want the larger piece for added durability. But for an off the shelve product slim is desirable because let's be honest I'll be replacig them every 1-3 years. It's a big difference in consumer needs.

Just curious - does anyone have any experience with Gelaskins and the Vapor?? I'm wondering if the side pieces of the Gelaskins would also serve to insulate the antenna??

So, iPhone4, screen and back protectors, Vapor case, sfbags pocket to protect the Vapor case, the screen and back protector, iPhone4.

While we are at it, why not put the whole thing in a waterproof Otterbox for good measure.:)

I remember when I was a little kid visiting my cousin who had a slide rule in a fine china cabinet. I wonder where it is now.

Everyone has their preferences, man. I use it as my wallet.

Good news for me and bad news at the same time.

Good news: Just got an email from element case stating that my vapor case will be shipped in the next 3 - 5 business days via USPS.

I ordered my case 6 days ago, BTW! Guess I got lucky.

Bad news: They didnt respond to my request to change from silver/silver to silver/blue.

Still looking forward to my case! wooooot!

(and I have my 10th Bag of crap from woot on the way for my fellow wooters)

Must be my lucky week!

Got my case last week, but had it forwarded to me in Honolulu since I missed it at home by a day. (My wife sent it, not them).

My observations are as follows:

NO dropped calls
NO difference when in my hotel room on the desk with or without the case.
The case did NOT foul my powesupport anti-glare and the carbon backing fits fine.
GPS seems to be fine - I tried both Maps and the Inrix traffic App - no prob.

I did have an issue with my cheapy car charger - Soooooo I went to OfficeMax and got a USB plug charger for $14.99 - went to the Apple store at Ala Moana and bought an APPLE dock connector to USB cable and no prob, fits like a glove.

Using a Seinhauser MM-50 and both the regular and the expensive earbuds with NO prob.

So far, so good. I have the Lucky Lab (used the code for $4.99) and will install upon my return home.

Overall, no issues - lots of looks at the Apple store, very happy despite the wait -

I made 20 calls yesterday with no drops or anything. I can't believe that Honolulu's service is that superior to LA -

Same here. After more extensive use of GPS, it has normalized and finds me without issue now.

Well I got my cases on August 30th. These are my experiences so far. I really like the looks of the case. It is a very cool design. The fit and finish are very, very good. After putting it on my phone started slipping from 3G into Edge. My signal has been very sporadic even without the case so I called my provided to do a system reset. I just placed foam tape along the left and right side of the inside of the case hoping to improve signal and it's still going into Edge. I also have lucky labs covering the antenna with the Spectra wrap. The case does most certainly disrupt the phones signal in a very negative way. Funny thing is my GPS is dead bang on. I drove for 20 min taking note of each intersection I passed and it 100% accurate with no lag. Weird!!! If you are in a low signal area I would say to not get it. If you are in a good signal area then go for it. Something I noticed that I don't remember seeing mentioned is that the case does make the phone feel very slippery. The nice thing is the ridges on the case make it much more comfortable to hold while talking. gamers will love it for the better grip in landscape mode.
If anyone has any ideas how to improve the reception I would love to hear them. I don't want to sell it I just want it to work.

Saw one today, here. Stopped the guy and asked him about it.

He put it on "last week". Was having dropped call issues around town and limited access in places where he'd not had issues before. Sounded same as Larry Greenberg reviewers. Had black electrical tape around the antenna but didn't help. (Don't try it at home -- it was pretty sticky)

He was ticked because he'd waited for so long and did not expect/think there would be issues. Told him I returned mine unopened fearing problems after reading on forums. That made him madder, so I bid him a quick adios.

All black, verrrry pretty.

W/R congrats on finally receiving yours! Thanks for your input. It does seem just like the 'antennagate' issue, if you have good signal you won't be affected just as you said. I'm still waiting on my vapor and I'll see first hand how I'm affected. Hopefully I'll be fine as silver / blue and gunmetal / blue look beautiful. Keep us updated how it's working for you.

Sorry that if we covered this before here. What is the different between Extreme Metal and the regular Vapor version?
