Hahahaha.

I fired off a formal request to cancel my order from the 17th. 10 minutes pasted and all of a sudden my status changed to awaiting shipment.

The saga continues.

To be fair, I got a quick email response, and my order stAtus changed as well. Seems ok to me.

I probably should have read reviews before doing my own video. I had no idea the first batch of Element Vapor cases was killing people's cell reception and GPS.

I just got the 007 case today and after the made the video, I was having GPS problems too. Mainly affecting voice turn-by-turn navigation apps. Using Gowalla, Foursquare and other check-in apps were fine. I also noticed that when I go into Google Maps there is a small circle around the blue dot. Usually, it is pinpoint accurate. I sent an e-mail to Element Case.

As far as phone calling, there is no discernable drop in bars and I made even more phone calls last night - even making a call walking into the restrooms at Best Buy. If it does affect my bars, it certainly has not affected my call quality and I have not yet dropped a call. But, Honolulu generally has great AT&T service so it might just be good coverage for me.

If you notice in my video there is a gigantic gap by the headphone jack that I did not notice in other videos like Larry Greenburg's. So, that "hole" may be "fixing" the cell reception issue.

The headphone jack gap was there since V2 together with the sim slot cut out.

I might probably give up on metal/aluminum case. Paying premium to cause problem haha. Might settle for Neo Hybrid EX.

Thanks for the video, the 007 looks awesome.

Thanks for the encouragement. The Element Case have never been a case for everyone and moreso with the Vapor line since iPhone reception is now affected.

Doing a quick field test in a terrible reception area, my bedroom, here's my non-scientific results:

With Vapor 007 & Carbon Fiber Back Plate: -110
With just Vapor 007 bumper: -100
With no case: -100

At least in my case (no pun intended), the carbon fiber back plate appears to affect reception by a full 10 dB. Testing by Anandtech shows that the iPhone 4 should be able to hold on to a call as low as -113 dB. So, in my real world "testing" I did not drop a call but the carbon plate affected cell reception considerably. I'm just lucky to have decent coverage in my area.

Obviously I need to do more testing.

Let me know how the Neo Hybrid EX is. I hate blind buying from companies I'm not familiar with.

I'm late to the party, but why are these cases so in demand? Why are people buying 10 of these? They are pretty expensive cases that are moderately attractive with signal issues and poor customer service. What am I missing here?

Bought 10 and sold 6. The profit on the 6 paid for the 4 I kept. Basically got them for free.

They do reduce signal somewhat, but so far my family with 4 iPhones hasn't lost a call. They are nice cases though.

I imagine Element has a pretty good idea who is buying multiple cases to resell on eBay, taking advantage of the supply shortage. I can understand that fulfilling such customers orders cheerfully may not be the highest priority for them when many other customers are waiting.

I bought the 007 case in hope it was going to blow me away and it got here and I opened it up and it was pretty much just their plain silver case with some numbers in the inside, nothing special. I sold mine on eBay the next day. Never even installed it, I was so discouraged because they built that case up to be something that it simply is not. Its plain silver, that's it. Its actually the worst or biggest rip off they have and yet some people go crazy for it. And to pay 150 dollars for it, just crazy. I put it right next to a plain silver element and showed it to 4 people and not 1 of them could tell which case was what, so that should tell you something.

They never give you a quota of how many you can buy! And what does it matter, 95 percent of them go to eBay anyways. Especially after people use them and lose signal and everything else. The company just flat sucks, period.

I wouldnt be suprised if element case are selling them on ebay themselves instead of fufiling customers orders.

I have ordered and received the EC Vapor Extreme Metals Line "Nickel" with the carbon fiber backing for my Iphone 4 and it looks AWSOME:apple:!!!! Been getting great reviews from friends and family on how it looks. My only complain about it is pretty much the same from everyone else. Once I put the case on, you can see the signal strength drop:confused:. I have already tried to put better insulation between the phone and the case by applying some electrical insulation paste. It looks like it made it better but I would still drop calls and I don't get the signal strength that I had before without the case:mad:. Another complain I have also is the slots. It is you cannot use any other aftermarket plug-ins with the case. Only OEM Apple stuff seems to be the only ones that will fit. Once I get a chance I will post some pics of the case on the phone and of the paste job that I did to the inside of the case. Other than those few complaints, I love the case. I just sure hope that Apple can do something about the poor reception issue:(.

What can apple do about a reception issue caused by a third party case? You said for yourself that you phone worked fine without the case so why is it apple's problem? Just wait until you clean the case and then nickel lettering actually comes off too. There really is nothing you can do to improve your signal, your putting a force field around your antenna.

Exactly, they don't like disputes. I promise they will react within 24 hours and if you wait to long you can't even open a dispute so I would do it now. You might of waited to long now. You only have 45 days, so if its past that you may not get your case or money. I would get into contact with paypal asap.
Why don´t you open a paypal dispute?I hope you haven´t paid by credit card.

Were these cheaper at one point? Why are people willing to pay for so much for these cases?

Here is the guy from element's email address, I think he is the head guy or acts like it because he is the one who sent me that email yesterday. Just a warning, the guy is an idiot but I would demand answers or tell him that you are going to contact paypal about your order, I guarantee he will do something. If anyone else is having problems, I would contact him as well. And I know I probably shouldn't be giving his email out but the hell with him, that's what he gets for being a d**k to me and writing me a nastly uncalled for email instead of handling the situation like a man. So here you go
joe@elementcase.com, bug the hell out of him.
It's past 90 days :(

Anyone got a vapor they wanna sell me?
Sure.

Got a silver and orange / and blue and silver and they are both $160 each with shipping included. I know it is high, but I'm probably gonna list them on Ebay, and the one I sold yesterday brought me that much.

Both mint condition with original box, wrench, and screws,
