Nobody said he couldn't have a different political preference. That was simply a refutation that Musk is a centrist.

Political lines are shifting. People who were traditionally left of centre, but weren't far left, are now being labelled as far right just by disagreeing with the far left. This is something that society hasn't really grappled with yet.

No, you're talking about the first amendment. The first amendment is not synonymous with the concept of free speech.

Everyone should be in favor of free speech in online discourse.

The First Amendment view of free speech is the only widely accepted definition. Meaning, the limits on speech are placed on the government and not on private parties.

You aren’t required to hand out flyers to your family with nudes from the guy next door who sees his nudes as freedom of speech and your family as people who absolutely has to see them. WalMart isn’t required to post his nudes in the isles either nor are they required to let him get a megaphone and stand in the middle of the store talking about his sad sexual conquests. You and others would find it offensive and are within your rights to tell him to piss off. He is free to get his megaphone and stand in front of City Hall and do it though...

I definitely don’t support forcing every website or online entity to carry any and all “speech”. I’m not interested in turning on Netflix and seeing Porn Hub content. Nor am I interested in logging on to Mac Rumors to be bombarded with snuff films… If I were into those things I can go to their communities for it… Just like if I wanted Android content I could go to an android focused website…

It is frustrating that there is so much confusion on basic civil concepts like freedom of speech. I used to believe that technology and access to the entirety of humanity’s knowledge would open the wealth of our specie’s knowledge to all. It is now abundantly clear that all that has occurred is people with marginal intellectual capacity are drowning in the ocean. Sadly, you appear to be one of them. I hope we find a way to throw you, and others, a life raft before it is too late.

Musk keeps on doing his best drunk uncle at the holidays impression.

You can have your platform and whatever rules about speech you want. Why is Apple or any other company required to advertise on it? That's not what free speech means at all, you bloviating pile of gas.
Yea at least they remove themselves from something they don't agree with. Wish more customers would do the same instead of continuing to complain while pumping submit order

So Apple is cool with anti-white.

Used to be the biggest EM and Tesla fan. Bought two of their cars. Moved to London and never looked back. Dude has gone far right.

I wonder who has done more actual harm.

Tim or Elon

Context here
- I hate Elon because of his irresponsible approach and push of self driving tech.

But I think what he is doing at Twitter is what should have been done long time ago.

The media are biased and twist things out of context.

Apple thru it’s cut throat approach in cutting cost/efficiency- resulted in explosion that killed production workers, been caught using child labor, allowed 16 years old students to work at production line labors (up to 11 hours per shift).

Yet no one blames Tim for allowing those to happen under his watch- where people are actually being harmed.

Elon is expressing his views- which he is entitled to.

So it’s okay to virtue signaling? Come on.

Twitter hashed Hunter Biden story. That is fact.

NPCs when Musk was making electric cars: "Musk good".
NPCs when Musk announced he was leaning slightly right: "Musk bad".
NPCs when Musk bought twitter and enforced same rules for everyone: "Musk very bad".

Did you not see all the kiddie porn that had to be removed from Twitter? Apple never said a word until Elon bought it. Totally fake outrage from Apple.
My understanding is that social-media algorithms show you content based on your interests and search data.

I have literally never seen content like that even once on a social media platform. Plenty of guitars and music related topics though.

Good, Apple should leave Twitter and pull the app from the App Store. Pretty sure they will both be aight without each other.

You don’t need an app to read Twitter and you don’t need Twitter to know Apple exists.

Such a petty tug of war from everyone over a platform. Pure silliness.

How did the Big Bang Theory remain on the air when they had Elon Musk guest star in an episode? He's far right according to some here, that should have been an immediate cancellation considering what "far right" really means!

Their decision would have nothing to do with how they feel about Musk. Their decision would be based on the fact that the Twitter platform is used to spread hate speech and lies. Trust me, Apple and Google don't give a damn about Elon Musk the man. They care about the apps which they give permission to operate on their iOS and android platforms and will protect the image of those platforms at all costs.

True- it’s only image and money google and apple cares.

Taliban on Twitter doesn’t hurt them.

It was never about fair reporting. Just virtue signaling at its best.

Rational people can disagree about things, but have debate based around facts, and lived experiences.

Most people don't want to be on a platform, or associate with one full of hate speech, bigotry, misinformation, and SPAM.
And rational people will argue the subject, not insult or call names within 2 posts/tweets....

Let’s be real. The left doesn’t like any speech that disagrees with their viewpoint and they want to shut it down.
This is such a silly suggestion. Each time someone disagrees with a certain political party or sentiment, its followers shout "cancel culture" or the likes. By doing so, they divert from the actual lack of argument for their statement in the first place, to some sort of weird mental ninja move that they are being silenced. The actual discussion is lost and the side that disagreed has to defend itself that they aren't silencing anyone. This, by definition, is actually cancel culture, because it prevents debate about the original statement. People just blur out crap and when people disagree with logic, the defence is immediately that they are being silenced. No, come with an argument that the statement is correct and let's have a debate. In this case, a moderation-free twitter is a bad idea, because of the implications it has on society. There are numerous examples, even non-political ones, that can argue that no moderation is a bad thing. On the other hand, bad moderation, such as that of some dictatorships, is also bad. Let's stop with these stupid one-liners just to get some likes and feel good about one self because "you made a point".

FRIENDLY REMINDER: Free speech only means the government cannot jail you. It is not a 100% consequence-free move.
Indeed! Also, freedom of speech or free speech also means freedom to remain silent. If Apple chooses not to advertise on Twitter or to reduce its advertisments on Twitter, that is covered under free speech.

People who are talking about wanting free speech online are mostly just wanting a place that isn't controlled and censored by one side of politics. They just want something where the place everyone is talking is censored as little as possible. Some censorship must occur on a business like Twitter, (incitement of violence, pornography etc), but what people are wanting is some place where there isn't a force from just one political side deciding what people can think and say on the platform.

Once you understand this, you'll understand why people are talking about "free speech". And then you might not be so condescending and rude to them.
