I also notice the extreme desire of the left to create a left bubble. I often saw posts like "If you support ..., please unfollow me!". There even have been apps that allowed people who in their friend list followed some "extremists" like Trump. With a click you could unfriend all those people. So if you followed someone like Trump, you were already seen as an extremist yourself.

Doesn't it make sense to follow many people with a different opinion? If someone has the same opinion as me, why should I follow him? I already know my opinion. I want to know what people from the "other side" think.

In Germany a popular lawyer got attacked from the left for defending some right wing people. The same lawyer also had left wing clients. He said that everybody should have the right to get the best defence he can afford and that he will accept ANY client, because everybody is innocent until proven guilty. The left however really think that no lawyer should have any right wing clients and if you accept a right wing client, you are an extremist yourself.

Long ago I decided not to choose my friends based on political opinions and I will never end a friendship based on the political opinion of a friend. Sadly people from the left do that differently. If you do not share their opinion, your are the enemy. I therefore also like the word "leftists" for those people, as they remind me very much of islamists.

Doing boycotts of people with a different opinion is already very extreme. If you do a boycott and want others to do the same, you basically want to destroy the income of a person, so that he can no longer make a living from his job. In Germany we had a dark history of boycotting Jews before we treated them even worse.
My name is Donald irl, I live in an hipster far left area, you wouldn’t believe how many people I’ve run into that introduce them and I say my names Donald “ yea I’m not calling you that so I’m calling you Don or Donnie” etc

I’ve said ok **** off. No joke

People are so pathetic how obsessed they are against trump, you’d think he was invading their dreams and thoughts like Freddy Krueger

Congrats to Elon but man this is a tough pill to swallow. Too much stress.

Elon Musk will soon get another tranche of stock options worth $23 billion because he hit the promised Tesla stock target again. Those $23 billion alone are enough to pay for half of Twitter.

Borrowing money is a normal thing even for rich people. That does not need to mean that they can't afford to pay a bill themselves. It just makes sense to borrow money instead of selling more Tesla stock, if you think that Tesla stock will go up. Imagine Tesla stock goes up 30% in the next year. A loan will never cost that much.

It's a sad world that we live in. We're embedded in a capitalistic system in which a trajectory is rule by oligarchy. Essentially, this rule by oligarchy is a fondness for rule by authoritarianism.

So much for democracy and for the public! I say this because so many do not seem to understand how much their lives are run by oligarchs and various flavors of authoritarianism. A former colleague used to tell me that capitalism is the best system. I just stared at her blankly. Wow...what lack of imagination. Capitalism. THAT'S what we ultimately want? Because one of its trajectory is the ever empowering of the few and disempowering of the many.
But it’s the most prosperous. I think capitalism is wonderful and shouldn’t be controlled or manipulated.

That little girl is one of the most dangerous people on this planet, because she can freely attack others and tell them they destroyed her childhood, but any time someone fights back, people say you can't attack this harmless woman. Just think about how much life has gotten more expensive just because all those new carbon taxes. Greta started all that nonsense. While I sent the tweet she was sailing across the Atlantic to visit the United Nations. So how could she be trending while on the open sea? A shark attack was my hope.
In my opinion Greta Thunberg was a victim of what I would consider child abuse committed by her school and parents by scaring the hell out of a mentally disabled child with the most dire predictions about climate change that may or may not happen since climate models have a very low accuracy rate in predicting any changes way out in the future. In addition, I do not like the fact they are using a mentally disabled women as a shield to prevent any real discussion about climate change as well to.

It’s not so much that people on the left want to create a bubble. It’s that those ok the right actually do create a bubble.

If I have a strong sense of belief that everyone should be respected for who they are are and whatever their life choices are. And they should be left to do what they want if they aren’t harming others.

If your beliefs are such that it interferes with others fundamental rights including about who they are and love, then I’m not going to get on with you. It’s not so much as creating a bubble, it’s about being nice.

That’s a well deserved ban, no different than getting banned for saying the n word really.
In my area there’s like 80% black community and they call eachother that word all day in casual chat.‘ I just don’t get why people should get banned for anything if they call eachother it and happy why should someone get punished by saying it or posting it

No I don’t care about the word
But you just compared my identification of a helicopter to the n word

How can you be this extreme?

If you don't see that the right is doing the same, then you aren't an independent thinker like you think you are. You have a massive blind spot. Almost every social media site that caters to conservatives just outright bans anyone who disagree with them. Look at this thread and the contempt people hold for people who have opposite political views on both the left and right. People have a need to feel like they are part of a larger group, and the powers that be have used that in order to divide people.

If the word isn't bad, why don't you just type the full word in this thread?

In any case, if he gets rid of things such as Tweetbot I'll be done because the Twitter app itself is a disorganized advertising nightmare. Like Instagram.

Hopefully next he makes it like TikTok and it turns into an even bigger sewage stew where people just consume videos of the mentally handicapped doing the Darwin Awards challenges

One controversial topic for example is abortion. One side says that abortion is murder and the other side says that the woman should do whatever she wants. I also have a strong opinion about the topic, but it would feel quite absurd for me to unfriend someone who has the opposite opinion. I rather try to convince him of my opinion.

Silencing dissenting opinions never truly stamps them out, only forces them to retreat into darker corners, where they fester and grow.

Allow any and all speech to be shared, and organically will society weed out less favorable opinions.

Wasn't that the entire premise of 4-chan? to allow all opinions to be shared, even those that are despicable and it just festered and grew and turned into a movement?

Yeah, IMHO, this sounds great in theory and in a utopia this would be make sense, but in our current environment, I don't think this will work...

Just my 2 cents on the matter...

This is not historically been the truth. And moderation is society weeding out less favorable opinions.

First, those are not the two sides of the debate, many people would never get an abortion themselves/their spouses but they still support people needing one to be able to get them.

What do you do if you’re unable to convince your friend? Just agree to disagree regardless of how terrible do you think their opinion is? Abortion is one thing, but what if your friend is a white supremacist?

Yes, if you value that friendship that much, I think it is worth it....you can't convince everyone...there is never a right or wrong answer to many aspects in life and you just have to life with it....which is why living life is so challenging...lots of gray areas...
