To me there are two issues:

1. Harassment: Plainly unacceptable, period.

2. Hypocricy: No matter your political opinions, you have to at at least agree that its mostly conservatives being banned from Twitter while we still have Putin, radical fundementalists and continuing to use the platform.

I think Elon can address the later while not impacting the former.
Putin is a horrible person that the conservatives in power seem to love, but he is discreet enough not to post outrageous posts on his profile. He gets others to do it for him.

I just find it funny that people that think Twitter is about to become a "right wing cesspool" and somehow that is an Elon Musk/less moderation problem and not a huge issue that needs to be addressed off of social media at a national level. Deleting things off of social media doesn't mean these feelings aren't running deep throughout America and each day they get closer to dangerously bubbling over.

I'm following Bill Gate's lead. I have been shorting the stuffing out of TSLA. I suggest all of you do the same. This is beyond easy money. This is like finding it in your wallet. TWTR will fail, as he has already stated he plans to take it private. Bye Bye, from an investment standpoint. Make TSLA pay for it.

You know how SEPERATE companies work right? Or the fact that Telsa is the only car company that seems to cope with supply issues and chip shortages... and you have seen the sales figures right and every professional forecast for the next 5 years. and:

Oh if you are shorting now on the back of Bill gates. you should probably know all that happened a few years ago - so you know should probably get out of the investment game..

Musk in 12th Feb 21.
“I also heard that at one point he had a large short position. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it seems weird. People I know who know the situation pretty well, I asked them “are you sure?” and they said “yes, he has a huge short position on Tesla”. That didn’t work out too well.”

Bill Gates 24th Feb 21. after he failed with his short ( because it was some time ago )
"Well, you know, I think Tesla is an amazing company. I wish I’d owned or been more on the long side (laugh), but it’s great. I have lots of relatives that own Teslas that I helped buy for them so nothing but positive thoughts about Tesla and its role."

I don't think its comical. twitter is very powerful platform.

You really think it's going to turn into a place where harassment is tolerated? The "cesspool" some are claiming it's going to become?

Twitter has made society worse, not better.

My suspicion is those who are screaming the loudest are the same ones who run around reporting everyone for being a nazi, racist, phobe, etc because they don't approve of their point of view, not that they're actually a nazi, racist, or phobe. Like my wife's friend who accused me of xenophobia (not even kidding) for not liking Mexican food.

If he runs the platform like Tesla it will have quality problems the week after he takes over.

He promises stuff he can't deliver and thinks he knows everything.

Hard pass on Twitter for me once he takes over.

Delivered everything so far... might be late. Quality at Tesla is now ( finally ) very good - certainly out of the Shanghai and Germany.

SpaceX - kinda the best space organisation now. Even NASA / JPL think they are years ahead now.

Richest guy in the world, bit of an arse sure - but he knows more that you and me for sure.

This is great news. How many people would vote for biden if they didn’t have stories of him sniffing children and his sons crack addiction covered up.

People need the truth even if it shatters their fragile incorrect views.
I saw the sniffing children pictures all over Twitter leading up to the election. And if anything, the Streisand effect probably made the Biden Laptop story more prominent than it would have been otherwise.

This is bad for democracy regardless of your political affiliation. If billionaires like Elon and Mudoch have megaphones, their views tend to be amplified. That's step one of the autocracy playbook.
You obviously have zero idea what you are taking about.

He is proposing making the content moderation code open source. All moderation will be publicly viewable as a record of the content. All legal speech allowed. But in your mind it’s bad for democracy. Lol. I suspect you don’t know what democracy is.

The thing is he has to comply with Apple & Google's terms or Twitter leaves the app stores like Parler and Gab and the rest and there goes his investment. He can't just let anything go without moderation of misinformation and other dangerous topics.

Apple and Google (and Amazon as Twitter uses AWS in their backend) have the real control. You can bet Bezos would absolutely love to kick an Elon-owned Twitter off his servers.

And then there's China and other countries who will demand censorship of certain things and Elon will have to agree or face consequences for himself or his other companies.

Doubt he brings back Trump for those same reasons. The last thing he wants is for Twitter to be considered a niche right-wing service. That will lead to the celebrities leaving and their followers will go with them. Twitter isn't the only major social network. And like it or not, Twitter is celebrity-driven. Nobody cares about you and your 47 followers.
President Trump already said he isn’t going back if Elon purchased twits
