This is just one massive 3 billion dollar pump and dump. Billionaire troll is literally asking to be done for market manipulation.
Yeah, I wonder how many admirers will claim they knew it all along when it eventually happens. Always safer to go with the flow.

I sure hope not - the dude is massively overvalued. He doesn't live on some moral high ground, he's a market manipulator that wants to control the narrative. From silencing his own employees to racist practices at his facilities, he is not this good guy looking to help society. He's a rich kid who wants a bully pulpit. I seriously hope the US stops fetishizing these wannabe autocrats.
Wow. You have a stark view in terms of your self-diagnosis of Musk. I will say though, he’s definitely not ‘overvalued’, if anything, it’s opposite of that, being that he’s proven many of his doubters wrong, when Tesla was speculated to be bankrupt years ago, and now look where the company is today. Pretty phenomenal feat when you break down the specifics.

Totally agree.

Equally, there are a lot of idiots spreading dangerous misinformation, lies, fake news, hatred all in “non-intellectual (or even pseudo-intellectual)” ways.
There are a lot more on YouTube and most if not all Social Platforms are infected by this damaging information.
It's true, we should have freedom of speech, but that doesn't give anyone the right to post false, misleading or damaging information that could negatively affect others. This kind of information has caused some people, including youngsters to fall into a deep depression and even commit suicide.

For me, it's more so the people that look to him as some sort of god-like revolutionary who is going to change the world for the better. People put him on this pedestal when I don't feel that they should. If you are looking at the stock price as your measurement, sure (stock price is not a measure of quality or even a well run business in my eyes), but Tesla cars are still mostly junk.

Well no, I don’t put him on a ‘pedestal’, but he is a powerful figure and he’s continued to show growth over the years. So I think there’s a difference in terms of idolizing him and then also respecting for what he’s been able to accomplish when he has been doubted and put down. For that, I do respect him.

My 22’ Model S would disagree with you. :D

I'd like to think that for $43 billion, he could develop his own Twitter. I do get it; name recognition and all. But spending $43 billion for a product that needs rebuilt (paraphrasing) vs. spending a quarter of that building something new seems...counterproductive.

Plus, there's that pesky thing of what other countries will allow in regards to no moderation, etc. Unless, of course, he just doesn't give a crap if his version of Twitter is allowed elsewhere.

I agree, he's a powerful figure (too powerful by tweet, in my opinion) and he is looking to gain more power with this acquisition. Do you think that is ultimately a good thing for society or bad? Fair enough regarding the model S, that is the one model I could get down with.

Since everything is potentially harmful to anyone if that person is just fragile enough we best shut down the internet. Had a blast, see ya.

Even better, he could use $43B to actually do some good in the world. End world hunger, end homelessness, build free universities across the world with progressive science and technology programs, the opportunities are endless. But no, he would like to control the narrative so he accumulates more power and money (what it's all about for Musk). No knock on your post either, btw.

The hatred for Elon Musk here is unreal haha

Apple people surely hate Elon and Android. Sheesh
Android is fine. Just not psyched about another egomaniacal billionaire having control over a huge segment of public discourse. It's bad enough with Zuck and FB, it will be sad to see Twitter go the same route. But maybe this is a positive development - maybe this will convince more people to break away from corporate run social media altogether and seek alternatives.

If Elon Musk made Twitter worse, how would we know? I guess he can undo every ban?

Use $43B to actually do good in the world... what a crazy notion!

So what’s really going on here? He posts polls about Twitter, then buys 10% of Twitter, is going to get a board seat, then refuses the board seat, is being sued for not disclosing his stock purchases, and has now made an offer to buy out all existing shareholders. Allegedly some portion of Twitter employees are now losing their minds.

The guy isn’t stupid - he knows exactly what he’s doing. To an outsider like me, it looks like he’s destabilizing that company. Question is: is he really trying to buy it or create a better position for a competing service?
