Even better, he could use $43B to actually do some good in the world. End world hunger, end homelessness, build free universities across the world with progressive science and technology programs, the opportunities are endless. But no, he would like to control the narrative so he accumulate more power and money (what it's all about for Musk). No knock on your post either, btw.
If $43B could even scratch ending world hunger or homelessness you should be really mad at US government that printed more than 1 trillion dollars to ease the pandemic effects and never spent a lower quantity like this to transform the world into Narnia.

I'd rather see billionaires investing in interstellar traveling than giving blank checks to "humanitary organizations" that exist for decades and never made any substantial effort to end poverty in the world

Can be interesting to see how he will change Twitter. Not that I use it much.
Twitter is mostly filled with power hungry stupid 'childs' ranting sh*** with very few exceptions.
But I actually follow Elon. I think he's fun and sometimes really brilliant and not abusing it as most people do.
Welcoming this change.
You think Elon does NOT abuse twitter? Fascinating.

Elon doesn't really care one way or another if the Board accepts or declines. If they accept, great. If not he will still make millions when he dumps his holdings based on the runup of the stock price due to the news of his offer.

Absolute ego play or possibly a way for him to position himself for an office run in the coming years. Owning one of the largest social media platforms would do wonders for a run towards the presidency.
Do you know where Elon Musk was born?

Hint: It wasn't in the U.S.

Well the failures of how the US government works is a completely different topic. My only point is that Elon could use that money for good instead of wanting to control the public narrative, push misinformation, and lie to capture more power and money. Hey, since Elon is such a revolutionary, he could fix the problems you describe and do it himself. I am sure he wouldn't be dishonest or try to profit in any way.

The dude used it to illegally claim he was taking Tesla private just to mess with short sellers. And 50 other terrible things he's done with it -- like spread misinformation.

Twitter will be a cesspool whether Elon buys it or not.

It will just be a less totalitarian cesspool.

I’m optimistic about Elon taking on Twitter. It for sure needs some new ideas injected into it as far as how it is run. Despite what you think about the guy’s personality, he has done well in business (Tesla, SpaceX, PayPal) so maybe he could work that magic on Twitter too.

There are a lot more on YouTube and most if not all Social Platforms are infected by this damaging information.
It's true, we should have freedom of speech, but that doesn't give anyone the right to post false, misleading or damaging information that could negatively affect others. This kind of information has caused some people, including youngsters to fall into a deep depression and even commit suicide.

There have been far too many incidents of Twitter blocking a post for misinformation only to have that information turn out to be at least plausible. In a democracy we need to have ideas spread, even ones you do not agree with. As long as the platform has tools for any offended person to censor someone, what's the problem?

Ok, you know the guy, you think. I certainly don’t.

I don't have to agree with people I follow on twitter, or on any place.
I follow people when they spark and inspire something in me. They don't have to be perfect. None are.
I just ignore the negative as I am taking in what positive they inspire in me.
The negative need however be much less then the positive.
It's pure selfish as I don’t know the guy ?

He can't. He is not a natural born US citizen and the Constitution prohibits such.

"Musk purchased nearly 10% of the social media giant and was set to become a member of its board, but due to unknown reasons, Musk pulled out."

Unknown reasons? You're joking right?

He refused the seat specifically so he could tank the stock to do exactly this.

Editing to add:

""My offer is my best and final offer and if it is not accepted, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder," Musk concludes"

Translation: either Twitter takes his offer as-is, or he'll sell his stock, tanking Twitter stock even further, and then buy it out for the rich-person equivalent of pennies.

I'm not saying I'm an Elon fan or something like that... To be honest I don't enjoy the idea of a single man having so much power on multiple important aspects of the world such as electricity, transportation and communications.

But I can't also agree with this ongoing speech that says that billionaires are the key to end the world problems. Poverty doesn't exist because of lack of resources, it exists because there's no interest in solving this problem. E.g.: If all countries donated something like 1% of their GDP we would be talking about more money than those billionaires have.

Mankind as a whole is the problem
