What good is Grok outside of Twitter X anyways? I hear it’s the number one news source but for what news exactly?

Reminds me of that platform Fubar back in the day where if you paid a fee you could write a message and it would get posted and seen throughout the whole site for a period of time.

But if you’re a regular user who doesn’t spend money on the platform your posts or comments will never be seen.

Funny how people seem to be so pro integrated AI and the potential risks that come with it. This is old news now, but even the guy who pretty much pioneered AI quite Google over it, guess he is just a crazy old white guy, what could he possible know or what good reasons could he possible have for thinking there is reason to be concerned? https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/may/02/geoffrey-hinton-godfather-of-ai-quits-google-warns-dangers-of-machine-learning#:~:text='Godfather%20of%20AI'%20Geoffrey%20Hinton,of%20misinformation%20%7C%20Google%20%7C%20The%20Guardian

And not like there is not legitimate concerns over AI and the level of adoption that is occurring. Yet so many think Apple can do no wrong, it really does feel like the Cult of Apple is alive and well.

OpenAI was initially founded as a non-profit organization. After Musk stepped down from the board in 2018 OpenAI underwent a significant structural change. Now it's for-profit organisation. Ownership pie is divided between Microsoft, other stakeholders, and the original OpenAI non-profit foundation. Since Musk left before this change, he was not directly involved in this new structure.

In other words he is now sooooo salty that he won't be making that sweet money from Open AI but Microsoft and Apple will. Oh so salty. Salty salty salty. Manchild will cry now.

Yeah of course it could not be he actually has an issue with AI and what is going on. No, he must just be whining. Pretty sure when you are at his level network you don't give money much of a thought anymore. And really what is your reasoning for him being salty, you said it yourself, he stepped down. What is there to be salty about? He was not ousted, he left of his own volition.

I am not huge Elon fan, but I can respect the guy in certain aspects. I also find it funny how everyone cried when he cut half the staff of Twitter, and all the doom and gloom of how he was basically going to bankrupt Twitter and everyone would stop using it. Seems he was actually ahead of the trend, cleaning house and the waste going on in tech companies. He was ahead of the curve as everyone else followed suit afterwards. But yeah, he is just the richest man in the world, I am sure he is ultimately just a big dumb baby.

And then I learn that my social security number was leaked to the dark web due to a security breach at AT&T, even though I haven’t had an AT&T account for ten years. So, yeah, it’s difficult to believe it when companies claim they will delete your data.

But I don’t see how this data is less secure than a Google or Bing search.

If the “AIs” are played in iOS like search engines are probably not. Unless you end up being required to choose one.

At this stage it is more about why bake ChatGPT into iOS/iPadOS. The more I look and read about this it feels like this “AI Now!” mess caught Apple by surprise and they were not ready for it.

It's wild how unbelievably stupid and brainwashable some people are. Carrying water for a piece of absolute **** like Elon is beyond embarrassing.
It's even wilder how Tesla retail investors are so stupid and financially ignorant that they're going to approve the issuance of $56 BILLION of new shares to give to Elon, thus diluting their shares by 11%. That's screwing themselves to give a sociopathic Midas even more gold. And what do they suppose he's going to do with it?

I don't respect him. He talks too much and his accomplishments are yet another products of materialism and capitalism. Did he make a world a better place? No.

Oh an he's also an antisemitist

So **** him :D Hope all his companies go bankrupt

Space X. Seriously. Game changer.

Well said Elon!

But nothing new here. Cellphones were initially banned in many work places for security. Companies will just get stricter with phones again.

It won’t be just iPhones but all phones as everything will embrace AI. You will keep your phone in a locker or your car and get a feature phone for your job. Landline office phones may be a thing again.

He was supposed to speak at the AI for Good summit in Geneva last month, but I didn’t hear him. He pulled an Oppenheimer by helping create AI and then turning tail and prattling about how we are all in danger. This guy worked 20 minutes down the road from me but took off back to England when he quit.

I don’t personally want AI in my phone.
But Apple used Google Maps for a long time, until rolling out their own map application. Apple could certainly bE following a similar strategy.

I'm not a fan of generative AI, but unless Apple is giving OpenAI the contents of your phone, and not just the contents of your query, I see no way that the privacy concerns are any different from having Google search as the default search engine for the iPhone. My Android phone (Pixel 8 Pro) has many AI features, most of which use the cloud, and I didn't see Musk say anything about also banning Android phones.

If you're worried about security, ban phones because they can take photos, not because an iPhone has added OpenAI as a search engine in addition to Google.

If Apple were allowing OpenAI to scan a users photo library, or emails, or whatever, yeah, that would be a good reason to ban iPhones. But they aren't doing that.

The reason people are criticizing Musk for this is that his position is inconsistent. Which sure makes it look like he's picking on Apple because they were one of the biggest advertisers on Twitter and have stopped buying ads on X.
