People are going to hate on Elon no matter what he says. I don’t like his politics and some of the crap he spews. I do think he has a reasonable argument/concern here.

In all honesty ChatGPT isn’t the hat great anyway. Most of the stuff it does has been around for a while, it just does it more in a conversational format. Google, Amazon etc have been doing all this shot for a while. Yes I know us Apple fanboys will say otherwise because Apple is partnering with them.

Musk is so misinformed. The following is from Apple web site (https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/06/introducing-apple-intelligence-for-iphone-ipad-and-mac/):

"Privacy protections are built in for users who access ChatGPT — their IP addresses are obscured, and OpenAI won’t store requests. ChatGPT’s data-use policies apply for users who choose to connect their account."

Hey Musk, I hope you take the time to understand fully what's being offered by Apple before you pull the trigger and make hasty decisions for your employees.
Musk doesn’t like Open AI, its more beef with Sam than Apple.

Musk is just hurt that there is Intelligence on devices because he hasn't used much lately.

At this rate, Apple Music will be Full Self Drive before he achieves it ;)

Saying this as a Tesla owner who loves the cars but think they would do much better without him...

“It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy!” Musk said on X. “Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river.”
Then why doesn’t he ban Microsoft (which also integrated ChatGPT), Google or Facebook? He’s just cherry picking.

Unlikely to take anywhere near that long.

I don't think anyone really knows - but the fact is the industry has advanced *incredibly* in the last three years.

The "transformer" concept was an unexpected discovery - they were working on a way to translate text from one language to another and it wasn't really all that impressive at that task, slightly more accurate but at the same time far more expensive and probably a waste of money.

The research was published with no expectations it would go anywhere, but then people took the same technique and applied it to more useful tasks and it has repeatedly proven itself in areas that nobody thought it could ever be used.

Transformers are the exact opposite of vapourware. It has been more like "we might be able to do X in 10 years and then a month later never mind, we can do it right now". There is definitely still a lot of work and improvement needed before we have a "General AI" that can do almost any task, but I wouldn't bet on it being a distant future thing.
I'm sure you're right. Everyone says so, after all. It couldn't be that AI is currently at the peak of its exponential rise and requires exponentially more data to handle unique situations, as zero-shot papers suggest. No, of course not. Every investor is absolutely certain that we can't invest too much into AI. Don't bother building anything else because AI will inevitably take over. There's simply no doubt about it. Everyone says so.

Trusting any individual, including Elon Musk, involves considering several factors and is ultimately a personal decision. Here are some aspects to consider:

1. **Track Record**: Elon Musk has a history of successful ventures, including PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla, and more recently, initiatives like Neuralink and The Boring Company. His achievements in technology and business are notable and have earned him significant influence and respect in various fields.

2. **Transparency and Actions**: Evaluate the transparency of his actions and statements. Look at how consistently his actions align with his promises and how he handles challenges and failures.

3. **Public Perception and Criticism**: Be aware of both positive and negative perceptions. Musk is a polarizing figure, receiving praise for his innovation and criticism for his management style and public behavior. Considering multiple perspectives can provide a balanced view.

4. **Personal Values and Ethics**: Consider how his values and ethics align with your own. Trust is often built on shared values and ethical considerations.

5. **Due Diligence**: Research and verify the information independently. Rely on credible sources and factual evidence when forming an opinion.

Ultimately, trust is subjective and should be based on a comprehensive evaluation of the individual's history, actions, and alignment with your values and expectations.
um... which AI bot are you? 🧐

Google Gemini was pure trash, tried for couple months. Too bad it was terrible, the subscription comes with 30 TB os space and lot of freebies. No one talks about meta but their open source LLAMA 3 was great surprise. QWEN is Chinese open source model, but it is better than Google or Amazon.

Why does it matter if it's an AI bot anyway? Everyone says AI is better than humans. It can process information faster, make more accurate predictions, and handle vast amounts of data effortlessly. With so many convinced that AI is the future, outperforming humans in countless tasks, why worry about whether it's an AI bot or not? The consensus is clear: AI is superior.

OS integration like this is more than just a default search engine in browsers. Integrating others technology in your own core is dangerous move. It’s sad to see Apple not making its own AI (btw Apple Intelligence is a cool title for its own LLM, if it ever exists!).

Please let there be a cage fight in which Zuckerberg beats the f****** snout out of him. He needs it.
You mean Tim Cook beating the crap out of him:

ChatGPT already knows everything about it, I treat it like my daily diary, and use it to bounce work ideas off all day. Musk is probably right to be wary of it if his company deals with a lot of trade secrets.

Everyone should relax, if your name is not Scarlett Johansson, there's no way OpenAI would rip you off. Let your hate of Elon flow through you, give all your data to OpenAI.

Musk’s quote: (and he’s right)

CRUCIAL QUOTE

This is the same person that called autonomous driving to be basically a solved problem. 8 years ago. And now this same person is trying to lecture anyone about AI. Sure, guy, sure.

ChatGPT is a digital oracle, capable of everything—and if not today, just wait until tomorrow. Everyone agrees: this tech is still in its infancy, with limitless potential ahead.

Just wait! Everyone says it’s true, so it must be true. If you don’t believe AI will take every job on earth (only the interesting ones, of course) by next week, then you’re in denial!

Apple implementation of AI features is spot on. Users will have wide and deep private and secure options plus 3rd party only on demand.
Why worry about privacy and security? In two weeks, no jobs will be necessary. AI can do everything.
