Bro is over reacting for no reason…

And it’s also an opt in thing.

If I worked at any of his companies, I would start looking for a different job tbh.

It's embedded into iOS just like Copilot into Windows which is also opt-in. OpenAI CEO is also the inventor of WorldCoin crypto which was banned in many countries because it scans people's iris and stores their biometric data without their consent.
It's possible to distrust both Musk and OpenAI.

How would Apple trust OpenAI and allow it to an be integral part of the operating system is beyond me.

So Elon wants to ban Apple devices from his companies... Tesla, SpaceX, etc...

I wonder what his employees think about that?

🤔

Open AI is not integral part of OS. Apple has published ReALM for on device OS level stuff few months back. OpenAI will replace the infamous”Do you want to search the web”.. ReALM had better scores than ChatGPT4 in local context tasks.

AI isn't yet to the point where it can write itself and train itself. Eventually it will get there. What we call AI today won't be considered even proto-AI in the future.
This is what everyone keeps saying. I’ll be sure to keep your prescience in mind 40 years from now when we still have CEOs and everyone else saying “just wait till next year!”

I recognize that the ChatGPT interface is opt-in, but I hope they put in a way to turn off the button that lets you opt-in

I’m all for the on device functionality, and machine learning for *editing* images, but yeah I don’t really trust OpenAI

That said, Musk can strap himself to the outside one of his rockets for all I care

The same people that celebrated “threads” taking down X are thinking Elon is just a hater.

It’s okay to dislike the guy but also take what he says into consideration. So many people acting like cult members.

$100 says Apple panicked because they are behind on the AI curve and their iPhone sales are dropping so they agreed to work with ChatGP until they build their own.

As much as I don’t agree with much of what Elon says and does, he is right about one thing. Every bit of your data goes to OpenAI and is there forever, for everyone else to access as well. It’s the exact reason why companies forbid their coders to use AI engines in coding. All the code they upload is available and free for anyone else’s queries to pull down. Not all data is private, but a lot is.
You have zero knowledge of the data structure there nor the contract apple signed with them.

Sam is absolutely contributing. If it wasn’t for him there would be no commercial ChatGPT and OpenAI would just be a big nerd-fest research project that only a select few in the public would ever get off the waiting list to use because there would be no server infrastructure.
Contributing what? Here I’ll ask ChatGPT for you…

“To transform OpenAI and ChatGPT from a research-focused initiative into a commercially viable and widely accessible service, several key elements would be necessary. First, robust server infrastructure is crucial, including scalable cloud-based servers capable of handling high volumes of requests and geographically distributed data centers to ensure low latency and high availability. High-performance computing resources like powerful GPUs and TPUs are needed to support the computational demands of training and running large language models, alongside advanced storage solutions.

Next, user-friendly interfaces must be developed, including accessible APIs for easy integration and platforms for direct interaction with ChatGPT. Customization and personalization tools are essential to cater to specific needs, while strong security protocols and compliance with data privacy regulations ensure user data protection.

A clear business model and monetization strategy should be established, with partnerships to integrate ChatGPT into various products and services. Marketing campaigns and educational resources can raise awareness and demonstrate value. Comprehensive customer support systems, including dedicated teams, detailed documentation, and community engagement, are vital for user satisfaction.

Legal and ethical considerations must be addressed, including the development of ethical use policies and ensuring compliance with laws regarding AI and data protection. Continuous research and development are needed for ongoing improvement of AI models and regular updates based on user feedback. Finally, scalability plans should be in place to meet growing demand and invest in future technologies. By addressing these areas, OpenAI could transition from a research entity to a commercially viable business, making ChatGPT widely available and useful for various applications.”

He's a shitgibbon, but I get the reaction. I too, do not love this and I really hope it can be entirely disabled. I like ChatGPT and have used it, it's cool, but integrated into the OS? hell no. Or whatever AI Google is ******** out? Extra nope.
There's a 100% chance they get caught with their hands in the cookie jar...

I don’t profess to know the details of how OpenAI works, but one thing is certain; Apple is no stranger to selling user data. They made Google the default search engine for a few bucks, after all.

But considering how far behind Apple is in the AI race, I don’t think they have a choice but to partner with other companies.

ChatGPT just told me I shouldn''t trust Elon Musk.
Trusting any individual, including Elon Musk, involves considering several factors and is ultimately a personal decision. Here are some aspects to consider:

1. **Track Record**: Elon Musk has a history of successful ventures, including PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla, and more recently, initiatives like Neuralink and The Boring Company. His achievements in technology and business are notable and have earned him significant influence and respect in various fields.

2. **Transparency and Actions**: Evaluate the transparency of his actions and statements. Look at how consistently his actions align with his promises and how he handles challenges and failures.

3. **Public Perception and Criticism**: Be aware of both positive and negative perceptions. Musk is a polarizing figure, receiving praise for his innovation and criticism for his management style and public behavior. Considering multiple perspectives can provide a balanced view.

4. **Personal Values and Ethics**: Consider how his values and ethics align with your own. Trust is often built on shared values and ethical considerations.

5. **Due Diligence**: Research and verify the information independently. Rely on credible sources and factual evidence when forming an opinion.

Ultimately, trust is subjective and should be based on a comprehensive evaluation of the individual's history, actions, and alignment with your values and expectations.

Thanks I didn't know that. From what I've seen in the keynote it looked like every time you need to opt-out by tapping "No" or can you disable OpenAI for good in the Settings ?
