did you read the info released? It will explicitly ask you if you want to use ChatGPT, it anonymizes you and doesnt store data...Tim Apple sell us down the river? Say it ain't so? Say no to OS level ChatGPT integration
Do I get a tin foil hat at the door too?
The issue is OpenAI will use your anonymous data you send it to create updated models that copies your work.He does not have a point. ChatGPT is just integrated into Siri the same way Google is when it searches the web. OpenAI is not involved in any of the other features at all.
Twitter is just a porn app at this stage and Apple should just pull it from the App Store as it breaches their terms of service.
Elon Musk has threatened to ban Apple devices from his companies over Apple’s newly announced ChatGPT integration.

Apple Intelligence in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia allows Siri to utilize ChatGPT to handle complex queries, but only when explicit user permission is provided. The feature is designed to provide users with richer, more contextual responses without requiring them to open the ChatGPT app.
During Apple's keynote event, Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, emphasized that users will have full control over when ChatGPT is used and that data shared with OpenAI would not be logged or stored. "You are in control over when ChatGPT is used and will be asked before any of your information is shared," Federighi said.
Despite these assurances, Musk expressed strong opposition to the integration on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter). Musk said, "If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation." He continued, "Visitors will have to check their Apple devices at the door, where they will be stored in a Faraday cage." He also repeatedly questioned Apple's ability to ensure data security, stating, "Apple has no clue what's actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They're selling you down the river."
Apple and OpenAI have both emphasized that user data will only be shared with explicit consent and that these interactions are designed to be secure. OpenAI noted in a new blog post that "requests are not stored by OpenAI, and users' IP addresses are obscured." Users can also choose to connect their ChatGPT accounts to access paid features, but this is an opt-in feature.
Apple has been clear in its messaging that the new AI capabilities are designed with user privacy at the core. Apple's approach leverages a combination of on-device processing and cloud computing, ensuring that data is not stored in the cloud. Apple's integration of ChatGPT into its operating systems is part of a broader strategy to enhance the AI capabilities of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.

Companies are banning ChatGPT because OpenAI will use your data to train new models that copies your intellectual property, thus helping your competitors.I still don’t see how this has any kind of risk to his companies just by having an iPhone with chat GPT integrated. Does he think chat GPT has a mind of its own and with automatically gather data from his computers, record audio and take video recordings or something? It just doesn’t make sense.
The issue is OpenAI will use your anonymous data you send it to create updated models that copies your work.
Dude is even dumber than Grok
Would Apple's contract with OpenAI prevent them from using your anonymously sent data to train new models, thus copying your ideas and intellectual property?then you can trust Apple’s contract with OpenAI and with it’s enforcement of the privacy stipulations. Apple has some pretty good lawyers who will have covered every aspect to Apple’s satisfaction. Apple doesn’t want any kind of privacy scandal because of this. They will be paranoid and aggressive about it.
That's nice and all but let's say you send a picture of a family member to ChatGPT asking it to find a matching prom dress for her high school prom with a theme of The Little Mermaid? It means the requests are proxied through Apple's servers. So end user IP addresses are never provided to OpenAI.
Similar to iCloud Private Relay.
Apple specifically did not say this in their keynote. They only stated they are opt-in and anonymous, not what happens to that data after it was sent to OpenAI.That's what Apple has said they won't do for their user's requests.
Now you may not believe them but I trust Apple not to throw away all their reputation by not checking.
That's a very low bar.And still smarter than 99.9999% of posters here.

This doesn't mean their requests won't be transformed for use as immediate training data.Musk is so misinformed. The following is from Apple web site (https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/06/introducing-apple-intelligence-for-iphone-ipad-and-mac/):
"Privacy protections are built in for users who access ChatGPT — their IP addresses are obscured, and OpenAI won’t store requests. ChatGPT’s data-use policies apply for users who choose to connect their account."
Hey Musk, I hope you take the time to understand fully what's being offered by Apple before you pull the trigger and make hasty decisions for your employees.
