I don't see any yellow "race neutral" emoticons here. Maybe you were blinded by the Macrumors mockup which doesn't address the emoticons what this is actually about. All of the emoticons depicting real people have white skin tones except for I believe that one wrapped in bandages.

I never thought Emoiis could get more childish. And, no I'm not saying this just because I'm bright yellow and happy with the status quo.
I was referring to the classic/simple (whatever you wanna call it) emoji face set, akin to what Macrumors comments uses, and which this article revolves upon.
As far as this new, and IMO bloated, crap goes, if they've already injected race into it, they may as well diversify beyond the 'beige tone'. Myself, I think I'll stick to the good 'ole black on white (racist?) letters/numbers/symbols.
Maybe they should just make them blue or green or something completely non-racial. (I kinda thought that's why they have been yellow all along.. lol)

Actually, I'd rather know the person that reported me, and why, rather than skulking around.
If I offend someone, it is usually a misinterpretation of some sort, either of my understanding of their intent, or theirs of mine. Without 90% of the content of communication (10% of communication is verbal, and the other 90% are visual/tonal/physical cues), things do get mis-interpreted quite a bit on these boards.
I'm sure if they're conservative or not

I think this would be really cool, not because I care about the diversity of chat icons that mostly show Asian people hahahaha, but because it gives you a few more customization options.

I don't need 50 versions of each of the 50 emojis I already have. Good grief. How about NEW emojis instead.
Using the proper terminology informs us as to what you're talking about. Golliwogs are stereotype caricatures from Europe and Australia, they are not well known in the United States. So a picture alone, just ends up looking like black-face to an American since that was a bigger form of racial stereotyping in the US.
Except the new skin tones are supposed to provide alternatives to the clearly white ones depicting real people, not the yellow ones Macrumors wrongly posted. These emoticons:
