Just realized that for nearly 20 years I have been typing almost exclusively in thin black text on a white background. I'm a horrible monster!

Or maybe the Simpsons had it right and instead of skin toning everything, a nice natural sunflower yellow is the way to go.

I'll check when I get home. On my work PC, these all come up as boxes on my screen. So, I can't see what you're referencing. However, my guess would be for visibility reasons.
