Uhhh it's Freemium, lots of in-app purchases and from what I've read you need to spend real coin to advance in this game. The Fortnite Battle Royale game is free, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Exactly my opinion. And demoing tech used to be quite important to EPIC. Now with Fortnite that probably isn't the case anymore.Always felt like more tech demo than game.

Well ok then, but all I saw is in game coin purchases in the app store description so I made a wrong assumption. I guess I will give it a whirl to see.I was more arguing that it is a free to play game, no 60$ up front cost. I don’t know where you got the idea that there was any upfront cost.
I also don’t know why you would need cosmetic things to advance in the game. That’s what you can buy from the store.
That's one of the reasons I like FreeBSD, even over Linux distributions. It gives me complete control over my environment, and lets me fairly effortlessly combine pre-compiled packages, with custom-compiled software, on one system. You can kinda do that on Linux distributions, but you're not going to get any assistance from the system for the actual compilation, which is often not without pitfalls. The stability and security issues aren't what they used to be. It isn't like macOS is without its own slew of problems these days.
It's still dismal to buy software for an operating system you have little control over what you can install and what version you run. Apple loves it because you have little choice but to keep throwing money at it.
$5.99 eh? Wow that must have hurt you bad... Poor you.
How much did we pay for games in the PC era? On the consoles? Graph it. Did the price go up with inflation over time? No. It tanked with the smart phone app market.
Agree but the two other games in the series got a bit more complex and there was not only a bit more story but two "canon" books commisioned by Chair to fill the gaps between the 3 games. Still a good value for a mobile game. What's your problem? Were you fired from Epic Games?
$6 for a mobile game with very little story and simple mechanics (like Infinity Blade) is a fair price. Same as $60 is a fair price for a game like Red Dead Redemption that probably used WAY more than 10 times the resources to make.
So, if I purchased the game, and get a new idevice, I will be able to download the game on the new idevice?
Well, this is something at least......
This is one reason why gaming on the iOS really sucks.
This is an example of why I look at 100% digital distribution of media with a lot of unease.
There is an enormous community of gamers who love playing classics on old hardware, but are we really going to be able to play these all-digital games even 10 years from now? Emulation is great, but 1) It is not always practical, and 2) It is often impossible to replicate the same user experience of playing on native hardware, thus defeating the purpose.
There have already been examples of content owners not just removing their media from distribution, but forcibly deleting that media from customers' devices. Even without that heavy-handedness, it's unlikely that these publishing platforms have any kind of longevity and they might just die of neglect over the years. Old content is sometimes impractical to re-license for a new platform and it will just disappear.
I buy a lot of digital media, but these days I'm buying certain paper books and rare movies on disc; at least that way the people who sold them to me can't force their way into my home and set them on fire.
Oh, how I loved Unreal Tournament. Bring it back, please. It seems Epic is having a big purge of much of their IP. Just a few days ago they officially discontinued Unreal Tournament.
It all seems very sad for all these old successful IPs which made the company what it is today all be killed off overnight =(
I ****ing HATE what has become of the gaming industry. We had a place for the AAA games with single player on all platforms (see GTA, etc.) wi compelling story modes and everything. You paid $60 and that was it.
Now you get a “free” game and pay through the nose to give your character a T-shirt. And people fall for this ****. GTA V has the best story mode ever and what people want to play is the same ****ing heists over and over again with cars that can cost more than the entire game. Same thing with this Fortnite crap.
We had a very good period in iOS gaming when they began putting out many console releases (GTA 3, VC, SA and LCS, the PS2 Prince of Persia, hell even Bioshock was ported) when someone discovered that there were too many idiots in the world willing to pay $5 for a single weapon. Sigh.

[doublepost=1544546048][/doublepost]Well, to show how much I don't pay attention to Fortnite, I didn't realize that the same developer who did the Infinity games also made Fortnite. Huh.This is an example of why I look at 100% digital distribution of media with a lot of unease.

Apple has never been serious about gaming. Look at how abysmal their Mac lineup is. Underclocked, poor thermals. No serious company developes games for Macs
Right behind you on this. Watched a Twitch stream of PUBG PS4 when it dropped to see if it was worth the purchase (surprisingly it was) however throughout, the Twitch chat was overloaded with people begging the streamer to load the store page to show prices of golden coloured guns etc.
WTF does it matter what colour your weapon is when playing a game? Is it purely a "look at me I'm better than you because I have x skin" mentality these people have? It's totally foreign to me, I just don't understand it, and yet they spend in droves on meaningless crap and the industry responds by producing more F2P content!
