Really there's not much in that list that 99.999% of people would have an issue with.

There are plenty of other avenues to obtain or engage in anything listed there via web browsers on phones or PCs.
You dont need an app to do it.

An all Apple is doing is stopping a lot of things that would get a dev in trouble with local laws.
 
To cite one example, wireless charging was invented by Nicholas Tesla. It has been around for a while. Palm did not invent wireless charging. Just like Eastman Kodak invented oled, not Samsung. Not saying innovation didn’t happen, but using some else’s invention…

I want a closed platform system and I'm willing to pay for it. There is a company willing to supply that closed platform system. Why do you want to prevent a company from making a product that I (and many others) want?
Well imagine this radical notion. You can buy an EU iPhone that allows you to side load, or you buy a U.S iPhone that is locked down.

Just like if you want an iPhone with two Esims you buy it from USA, if you want it with an ESIM and Sim, then you buy from EU. And if you want double SIM functionality you buy from Hongkong/ China.

Perfect consumer choice. Just like when Apple released the Apple Watch with EKG/ECG 2018 in USA but not in EU until 2019, I just went to USA and bought it instead so I got EKG early.

I am glad EU broke Apple Store and allowed emulation, but in reality I do not see how it was monopolistic. If you do not like it you can buy Android phone or GrapheneOS phone or create your own phone. The gaming console market AFAIK works this way, console makers charge game developers to release games on their platform and probably charge a cut on their online store which is exclusive.

The only thing that causes innovation is competition. Apple should be looking to make the App Store more enticing to developers rather than beating them with a stick for leaving.

You only need look at the stagnation in OS development caused by the iOS/Android duopoly to see what I mean. Their last big competitor was Windows Phone.

This is known as late stage capitalism. Few rule the market and no one wants to enter the market to compete against them. Funny, this is how the game of Monopoly works. Everyone starts equally but if you play long enough in the end 1 guy owns all.

as for skeuomorphism, I do not get the criticism. It worked great IMO. Friendly and easy.

They could have reviewed apps for security issues and to protect against obvious scams and allowed Spotify and Epicto communicate with their customers in-app and accept the same payment methods of choice in their app that they allow Uber. And happily offer their supposedly superior In-app-purchasing system and/or Apple Pay on competitive terms.

This legislation would have never picked up the legislatorial steam that it did, and Apple, Epic, Spotify and the "I want everything from one store" crowd would all happily get along.

In case you haven’t been following Apple, they are not a company to roll the dice. (Ie “open” up the App Store and hope that legislation the likes of the DMA will never come to fruition because of their largesse.)

Apple should be greedy within the law. And as a consumer if you don’t like it, there are literally hundreds of cell phone manufacturers who will take your $$$. If you don’t like the product in any way shape or form, exercise your right as a consumer.

You are 100% wrong,imo if only apple had made the App Store into a public utility earlier the DMA would have never happened. As we have seen there would have been some regulation against American tech that would have been equally as bad.

At least in the US TOS are enforceable. For instance you cannot sue Tesla for a lemon law. When you bought the car you agree to arbitration - even if you didn’t read the sentence specifically.

You only need look at the stagnation in OS development caused by the iOS/Android duopoly to see what I mean. Their last big competitor was Windows Phone. This caused Apple to drop skeuomorphism and Android to finally tidy up what was a very messy OS. They were shaken by a competitor and we all benefited. Every OS 'innovation' from them both in the last decade has just been whatever they could pick from the carcass of WebOS.
What Apple said during the Epic trial clearly didn't go down well with developers, but I find it hard to disagree with the essence of what was communicated. Developers do owe Apple. For creating the modern App Store model. For getting users to trust the purchase process (which is the reason their apps even sold in the first place) at a time when malware and viruses were rife on PCs.

When the iOS App Store was first available, 30% was considered a godsend when developers were lucky to keep 30% of app revenue (compared to the 70% then, which has never changed). Nobody at the time thought that Apple was doing developers a disservice. And now Apple is somehow the villain for continuing to play by the exact same set of rules since 2008?

Was Apple rent-seeking at a time when it had single-digit market share? What about 2010 when the iPad was first introduced? 2015? 2020? When did the closed ecosystem so beloved by iOS users and developers, as well as Apple's 30% cut, become a supposed threat to both sides?

In a world where are literally dozens of different android handsets available, what is the logic of trying to make the only different smartphone (ie: iPhone) be more like the dozens of other android handsets which can probably give you all the freedom you want (and then some?).

This is your idea of meaningful competition?!?
