Has anyone asked Epic Games if anyone cares?

Apple's correct action here is to make a nice iPad Mini Pro / Oled instead of supporting some dumpsterfire "video game."

(Pssst, Apple... Where's my Mini Pro? Take my money. Take. It.)

Apples and Oranges comparison.

iOS has -never- been an open platform. Side-loading has never been available to the general user base.

Apple is being forced to open it up in some markets.

Open is great. I install a ton of open-source software on my Mac via vetted package services (specifically MacPorts), but iOS was never designed nor advertised to allow that, so Apple is not taking anything away that previously existed.

You want open... go with Android. Simple choice.

Yeah it's not really about that though is it.

People have paid Apple thousands for their iOS devices, some of them could play fortnite on their device when they bought it only for Apple to kick it off the store leaving the end user with no recourse. The end user shouldn't have trade their device in for another platform.

I've been saying it for a few years on here, If I could be bothered I would dig up the posts, Apple are going to get absolutely picked to pieces by courts and regulators over the next few years.

The discovery in this case says it all, there are high level executives in Apple that have a disgraceful, belligerent attitude, they genuinely think the rules don't apply to them. Ironic given how many they've got for everybody else.

Boy there's a lot of people that don't understand that Apple is already in compliance with the court ruling. Yes, they appealed, that's what you do. But they already made changes to the developer rules that comply with the court ruling. Hell, a bunch of apps have already been updated to reflect the changes.

After they were blasted into the stone age by the judge for contempt you mean?

not true, the majority of Apple users don't care about this Epic stuff, just being discussed endlessly here on MR and some other tech social places.
I know, but it's important for friends and a$$le super users, they even if they saw "nothing has changed" in their soul they know now it's a greed company...

Yep, and know it's very clear to me because the word "cult" is so often close to that brand name...

If they are "in compliance", why they are appealing? There is the risk something is changed and they won't be anymore "in compliance"... so, if they are appealing it's because they know that they are not "in compliance".

I didn't argue whether or not Apple has the right to not let Fortnite back on the store, just that they seemed petty for exercising that right.
Guys, what you don't understand is this isn't Epic yes vs no... in the future, this approach could be applied to an app from unions, from a party, and so on... it's important that we protect TODAY our FUTURE.

In fact, most Apple users actually like the restrictions, and are willing to pay more for them. In other words: they're a feature for most consumers!

I know that's shocking for many on here, but it's the truth. Here is a summary of the comments on a Washington Post article about apps now being able to offer links.

I love how Sweeney consistently ***** on the table over and over, then pulls a Pikachu face every time the counterpart is less than kind.

They are in compliance because they are doing what the judge ordered. They are appealing because they believe what the judge ordered is 1) wrong 2) exceeds her authority to order 3) unconstitutional.

Oi. if there weren't a dozen other substantially cheaper platforms than an iPhone to play on. How long has it been, nearly 5 years? If Fortnite means that much to those users then absolutely, they should stop giving apple their money.

well, that is your opinion and that's fine. Others look at Apple as a very successful company.
Let's look at I think Fortune's most admired companies list - Apple is pretty high up there, cause they are "greedy"? no

You are suggesting that they will risk more penalties. Are they going to ignore the verdict until TC is jailed?
How are they risking more penalties? They are fully in compliance with the judge's most recent order (which, to repeat, said nothing about letting Epic back in - her original ruling stated Apple was within their rights to kick them out and they didn't have to let them back in).

well, if developers don't break the agreement they signed with Apple (unlike Epic did), there is nothing to worry about, or is there?

imagine your GF cheats on you, then poke you 2 times after you ignore them.

You are confused. Epic's Sweden branch/subsidiary with legal account submitted the application.
