If these sell well, the sport band is dead. Same with the leather link killing the leather loop and I believe the braided solo loop will eventually kill the sport loop as well.
I’m sure with every bone in my body that braided solo won’t discontinue sport loops- especially with the jump in price.
I wonder whether they designed the singular solo loop since most people are discarding the extra S/M or M/L that comes with the sport band. Lisa Jackson's probably be like, first we removed the power adapter and soon we're going with just one singular band (with no metal buckles and clasps) for the ENVIRONMENT!!!
Not sure what the logistics for selling/shipping the solo loop and braided loop will look like though. I bet it's a nightmare having to stock so many different sizes. Then again, maybe it's no different from shoe and clothing stores who have to stock multiples sizes too.

I really hope you’re wrong about the Sport Band. I did have a momentary shock when I woke up to the new bands on Wednesday morning (the keynote starts at 5am here) that they were all gone already. Then again it would give me back a hefty chunk of my disposable income as I’d not have too many more to get to go complete (saying that always makes me think of Scientologists going “clear”, which I’m not sure I like).
I will be interested to hear if the new Apple "liquid silicone" solo loops are lint collectors like third party (silicone) sport bands.
If they are, that will be an instant turn-off.
One big advantage of the genuine Apple (fluoroelastomer) sport bands is that they do not attract lint.

Welp here in Aus, at my local store, while all the watch models themselves in stock for a walk in purchase (albeit with a 45 min estimated wait), for the watch bands themselves, the Leather Link in 40mm is the only one to have completely sold out already (“like hot cakes” in the specialists words)...
Yeah I think leather links will be a big hit, especially in 40mm. And you know, I hate to say it... they’re growing on me. I mean, I’d still rather have a leather loop, but I wouldn’t mind grabbing one for $25 off eBay.
You couldn’t pay me to wear that thing on my wrist. But hey, you do you.
The stupid thing is as the end of the season all of the surplus bands from the 18(!!!) SKUs for each color that didn’t sell will be totally wasted, along with the packaging they’re packed in. How is that batter than an extra strap included in the box?
Eh I thought the same thing when I first saw it, but they are kinda growing on me. However, I will only acquire one on teh cheap. There are too many other bands I want to get first before i start looking for leather links.
let's watch to the bright side: maybe, MAYBE, IF the solo band it's gonna take off and replace the sport band, some reseller will give the sport bands leftover for sale. Like the woven nylon, sometimes.

You know the saying, go with your gut, I wanted the Leather Link (40mm), but it was just all sold out unfortunately so I didn’t buy anything. Graphite however, I’m completely sold on, in my opinion I like it better than Space Black, it matches the Stainless Steel of the 11 Pro Space Grey, and will aim to pair it up with a black / Baltic blue leather link whenever those restock

It’s just not my sort of thing - and that’s not to single out Scientology; I only mentioned it because of the Complete / Clear association in my mind.
I’m genuinely not that fussed for an S6, and with the Hermes still not available in NZ and the ceramic discontinued entirely I should be safe. Except that Graphite intrigues me. The real pain is that it isn’t SBSS, and I’d probably want to keep my S5 as well if I caved and ordered one. It genuinely isn’t a closet desire for an S6 - the only way I’d replace my SS S5 just now is with a Hermes, and an S5 SS Hermes would keep me plenty happy. It’s a finish I don’t have and that I think I’d like - and your description above hasn’t helped me decide I don’t want it.
I guess with all things Apple that look a bit odd, you might need to see it to be sure. For me the Leather Link, and to a lesser extent the Solo Loop, don’t grab me from the pictures I’m seeing. The Braided Loop I kinda like, but not at a 2x+ premium over the basic band price. That said I’m still no great fan of the Sport Loop, and I tried one with my S4 (and sold it with the Watch when it went), and landed three more recently. I’m wearing them for sleep, but I’m not feeling the need to use them when my eyes are open. So I don’t just think “oooh, nice” with everything Apple makes I see IRL.
I was starting to wonder if we are just going to get the same colours recycled under different names with the Sport Band. If that is going to happen then better it is killed off IMO. There are a heap of colours we haven’t had of course - almost everyone wants a good green, though I’m hoping Cyprus (why not Cypress?) is close to what my good green is, we have room for a purple or six, and I’d like a nice dark red that doesn’t have any pink undertones, to name a few. Nike Sport Bands have hardly scratched the surface yet, so it would be a travesty if they went away.

Oh ****, iJustine has the solo loop and like her, I got a 4/5 on the measuring tool. But she found sizes 2/3 to be perfect fit so I might have to end up exchanging my band for a smaller one

Apple’s product photography is nonpareil, but there are some things you need to see in person. Color is one. And for how things *feel*, well, you obviously need to have whatever it is in hand — or in this case, on wrist.

Cyprus Green sport band just came … and I have massive Pacific Green flashbacks. It's much darker than I thought, one of those almost-black "colours" Apple somehow likes. I think it will go back (just like Pacific did).

I changed my mind folks! Realising due to the nature of buying Apple Watches today being “make it yourself”, with the bands and figuring I had decided on 40mm Graphite, I went and bought it with another band I’d been eyeing for a while, the Pride Edition Sport Band which put aside for now, and I’ll just have a look into Leather Link later whenever it restocks.
Meanwhile, here it is my Watch with my Sport Band of the season here, Cornflower. Graphite is really stunning, when I saw it in person while I was on the fence with Titanium, was instantly swayed. Would very much recommend to anyone thinking of getting Graphite
EDIT - just going to add in a pic of it on my wrist. How good is that Always On Display!!! I’m loving it 🤓 (as someone that didn’t have Series 5). Will try it out with my other existing 40mm bands, hopefully most of them look fine with it
