@jamieinoc nope, couldn’t resist.

Hey guys! I'm the one selling those crazy cheap Braided Solo Loops on eBay. I understand there is a lot of skepticism about what it is, whether it's genuine, is it a scam or sus etc., so let me explain everything.
It’s not skepticism. We think you are leaving the misleading impression that you are selling OEM bands when you are, in fact, not selling OEM bands. Which, as it turns out, is exactly what you are doing.

These are made from genuine materials. This means genuine polyester yarn, and genuine silicone thread used to bind the whole thing together. These aren't the official Apple stuff but are very high quality and exactly the same, and when I received mine for quality testing they were exactly the same as compared to the real deal. I used the official MPN because it helps with SEO, and no one on eBay is really selling any of these so I wanted people to be able to find it.
Just because you use the same material does not make them genuine OEM. Using the MPN and the term OEM in your listing title is lying. The definition of a knockoff is a band made with the same materials, style, and colors in an attempt to mimic the genuine band at a lower price. Your bands are knockoffs but you are implying they are genuine OEM Apple bands.

To add to how they aren't just low-quality fakes, I have arranged for them to have the exact specifications, so I have sizes 1-9 and your size can be measured with Apple's sizing tool. It's an amazing way to try the solo loop if you don't want to fork over the cash to Apple.
The quality of the bands is irrelevant. Just because they are not cheap and have the same sizing (at least, you claim they do) does not make them OEM bands. You are selling knockoffs and trying to claim they are the real deal.

I apologise if people thought these were Apple products and want to take me on with buyer protection, that's up to you. My goal was to give people the ability to get a high-quality Braided Solo Loop for a really good price because Apple's price is crazy. And if they do wear down over time, just get a new one no problem, they're cheap AF.

As pointed out, 14 USD plus no shipping! Amazing! If you placed an order and would no longer want it delivered as you only was testing if it was genuine, please reach out and we could sort something out. But I recommend for you guys to just try it, its super affordable and very good quality.
People think that these are genuine because you are deliberately misleading them to think that with your listing title and description. Claiming Apple’s prices justify lying to people is BS. Trying to claim your band is a way for people to try one out at a cheap price is a misdirect. Trying to claim your bands are the same quality as Apple’s and, therefore, the same as an OEM band is also not valid. And, the fact that you won’t post any real pictures says volumes about the supposed quality of your product.

You’re selling knockoff bands and trying to trick people into thinking they are actual Apple bands. Period.

I’m done with this guy. This listing has been reported to eBay. I hope they shut him down.

Questions? Queries? Feel free to send them here, I'll be replying.

You literally made your own case as to why it's wrong to use the MPN of genuine products. You really don't think it's fraudulent to those that have purchased these thinking they are real?? "And if they do wear down over time, just get a new one no problem, they're cheap AF." Seriously??

He’s basically admitting his bands are a piece of garbage when he says they’ll wear down. But no matter, they’re “cheap AF” and the SEO is fantastic with the MPN in there so it’s all good. The Apple logo in the user’s profile pic on eBay adds yet another level to the fraud.

Right. I mean, who cares if they aren't real, they're "cheap AF". Sooo, you think just because that justifies s**ewing people out of money? Good grief. If I find it, I'm reporting it.

You can’t find it? 😱 I’m shocked what with the amazing SEO he has going on. You want it? You got it. Go report it.

Is Meyer lemon leather loop a sought after and rare band like the sunset leather loop?
Nope. Not yet, at least. It was only just recently discontinued though so they might start rising in value.

As others have stated, this is incredibly disingenuous and irresponsible. If your product is not OEM and made by Apple, you don’t label it as OEM and made by Apple. Your previous and now relisted listing both claim the bands are OEM, branded as Apple, and use Apple’s product images. This is highly illegal as you are selling counterfeit goods as OEM product. You CANNOT use MPNs to help in searchability on eBay. This is known as search & browse manipulation, and eBay doesn’t like it.

If you want to sell knockoffs on eBay, you’re fine to do so. But you’ve broken many eBay policies already (identifying counterfeits as OEM product, search & browse manipulation, avoiding new seller restrictions, publishing contact information, & duplicate listings) and branded yourself as a “factory outlet” who sells “genuine Apple products” which is a huge no if your products are fakes.

I’ll be reporting your account. There is no excuse.

I'd better get my order in before he gets shut down. 🙂

People thought they were genuine because you lied and said they were. So your goal was not to "give people the ability to get a high-quality Braided Solo Loop for a really good price" but to scam people who would see these described as OEM and buy them on that basis.

Well, you know what they say... if something looks to good to true, it usually is.
Although the listing is absolutely fraudulent I do really hope (and actually assume) that the majority of the potential buyers also regarded it as too good te be true and therefor fake.

Shouldn't the scammer be reported to Apple? Similar braided solo loops are already available in China for cheaper than what the scammer is asking for, but I don't think they are listed as genuine. Also, looking at his twitter profile he has one of those recent "self-proclaimed leakers" profiles so seems like he's just looking to make easy money.

Wow! Amusing series of events here in the last 24 hours. I'd say this amount of focused (and well-placed) hate-on against the ebay seller is fuelled by our whole community’s frustrations with the awful SEO efforts that third party (clone) band listings have at-play. Makes the real bands a chore to find. "Thrill is in the hunt" as they say, sure -- but geez. In the end, by poking his head out here, he doomed himself to taking the brunt of all that pent up frustration; and, that being said, he asked for it (IMO).

On another note... does anyone envision Apple making a Graphite SSLB?

I don’t think it’s just the frustration with the SEO gaming that clone band makers do, though that’s certainly part of it. It’s also (at least for me) being just totally fed up with the general attitude of “anything I can get away with is fair game, screw everyone else, honesty and morals are for suckers” that seems to have taken over large swaths of the world in the past 5 years. I may not be able to change that attitude in the world as whole right now. But, no way am I going to tolerate someone coming in here to defend their dishonesty and trying to convince us that somehow we are in the wrong for calling it out. This community has been one of the few bright spots for me in what has otherwise been a very dispiriting year. I may have to put up with people like that seller out in the rest of the world. I’m not doing it in this thread.

Back on to bands! I honestly don’t know about a Graphite LB, but would like to see Apple make one. The link band is such a niche product for Apple. Most people won’t buy it due to the high price and it always feels like Apple is just keeping the band for sale until it clears out old stock. It has never been officially updated to the newer 40/44mm sizes and it was even relegated to a “previous season” back page when the S4 came out. And yet, here we are 2 years after that and the band is still for sale. So, anything is possible I guess. I will say, the lack of a Graphite LB and having already invested in a SBLB have made it much easier for me to decide to stick with my SBSS S5 for at least another year.
