Hey Apple Watch forensics, I need some help. I got this 2 yellow bands. I don’t know their names. They are very close. One more saturated than the other.

1st 42mm Yellow
2nd 40mm ???
3rd 42mm ???
4rd 44mm Canary

Any ideas?

Given that number two is 40mm and matches your loop, seems impossible it could be lemon cream or mellow yellow (much lighter bands anyway).

And I would guess Pollen for your 42mm as it has a dullness that precludes Lemonade and Flash. Hit the 42mm with a bright light shot and we’ll know for sure.

Here is with more light:

I picked up a cheap-as-chips Solo Loop in my size on eBay, which arrived today.

It is incredibly comfortable, but I hate myself for saying that... Maybe the SB’s days really are numbered?
I think the answer to that will likely depend on how the solo loops hold up over time. Apple already admits they will stretch out. The question is: how much? Will they hold their shape well? How will the colors hold up? My experience with 3rd party silicone bands is not promising on these questions. But, this is Apple so I am sure they are using as high quality silicone as possible.

The sport bands have a long track record of being nearly indestructible in normal wear. I think the solo loop will have to come close to matching that in order to kill the sport bands off fully.

Ok corrected for iPhone making it look super blue, next to Peacock for reference. I’m pretty sure this is Marine Blue, otherwise why would the seller have called it Marine Green? Clearly she wasn’t looking at the band archive

Oh yeah that’s for sure Marine! Sea Blue is much closer to Sapphire I think. Been debating picking up this color as part of my space black hardware swap I started with the saddle brown (have an extra set of buckle and lugs). How do you like the color/do you think it would pair well with SBSS? Do you know how close it is to Cosmos Blue?

Yeah it’ll pair perfectly with SBSS. Cosmos I saw briefly during my one parent visit I’ve gotten during quarantine and it’s a darker, less green Marine. You kind of have to really look to see the green.

I say go Marine over Cosmos even though it‘s lighter. Kinda boring to just go with the safe fully-dark band. I considered blackening my forest green modern buckle and it would have looked nice but for what? For who? Be Bold!

Cosmos third pic in the same place/time I took the Marine shot just now.

Forgot to post these last week. Leather link on stainless steel. Ultimately didn’t keep it but the leather was very nice and it was super comfy. Not 100% confident in how secure it is compared to a band with a clasp closure or loop though.

I think we’d all like to see more detail shots of what took its place — some nice outdoor angles with some foliage in the background, perhaps!

Thanks for the pics! It seems surprisingly similar to Cosmos. I actually have a Cosmos CB that I picked up when I thought I was going to be able to swap out the hardware on a 4th gen band. I like the color though I’m not 100% sure I’d wear the lighter shade of Marine.

Really what I want is a Midnight Blue or Storm Gray classic buckle. But those are very hard to find in good condition. I clearly tend to gravitate toward darker, neutral bands.

Looks great. Should of kept it. I have no issue with slippage on mine and have worn it for almost 2 weeks exclusively

Lol!

So the reason I didn’t keep the leather link isn’t because it didn’t feel secure enough but because my husband got me another band that I’ve been wanting for a while - the fauve barenia - and I felt like it might be too extravagant keeping both at this time. Plus I’m trying to pare down my collection to essentials only. Anyway here are some photos of the fauve! It’s an excellent feeling band - very soft and supple and I love the contrasting stitching. If the other Hermes bands had contrasting stitching that stood out as much (I think the purple has a bit) I’d be in trouble.

Edit: one more thing - in photos the part where the leather loops over the metal connector looks very prominent and rounded sometimes but in reality it doesn’t look that obvious. Just wanted to mention it as it had given me a bit of pause when I’d seen it previously in photos.

I think the answer to that will likely depend on how the solo loops hold up over time. Apple already admits they will stretch out. The question is: how much? Will they hold their shape well?

You have to consider that there are so many (most?) people with an Apple Watch that basically never change bands and that the „warning“ by Apple probably refers to that kind of year(s)-long daily usage of the Solo Loops. The watch band nerds in this thread surely have way to many bands in their rotation to ever really wear a Solo Loop out like that.

Just in case anyone wasn’t sure which the standout band from this season was, sport goo wise. Who will buy both the loop and the band and give us definitive answers as to them being different?

Cyprus Green (cargo khaki and black for reference)

Oh and here’s a pic from @jeremyfernie illustrating the different between Cyprus Loop and Band, in store lighting and after many wipedowns, similar depth departure as glimpsed in the Juan vlog:
