I know it's the question you've all been asking... Can I run Bandbreite on an M1 Mac?

Why yes, yes you can*...

*Takes some fiddling about with Terminal and other gubbins.

Apologies to @choreographics and team, but I just had to try it!

Oh, wow. Happy to see it kinda works. The app is not officially available for the M1 yet, since we couldn't test it in advance. And for a great experience, an iPad version makes more sense on a Mac. Additionally, we need to tune up the iCloud sync a little, so it works immediately between devices. So many ideas, so little time. 😕. But we keep working on further updates. Stay tuned!

Chargie was able to hook me up with a 3rd gen Saddle Brown classic buckle and I finished swapping the silver hardware for space black last night. Finally able to wear it this morning after letting the Loctite dry overnight. Love this band so much! Really don’t understand why Apple didn’t at least make the “mainstay” classic buckle colors (brown and black) with black hardware. The Saddle Brown looks so good with the space black watch!

Love classic buckles! got the blue jay recently too. How did you manage to make the buckle black? I did the conversion before with just the adapters, it’s weird not having the matching buckle, so i just reverted back to the original adapters. Lol

Yeah classic buckles are among my favorite styles because they are, well, classic! The buckle swap is only possible on the 1st-3rd gen bands with the smaller clasp, but it is pretty easy with a little practice. All that is needed is a spring bar tool (I used the Bergeon 6767-F but there are cheaper ones on Amazon). The buckle is attached to the leather with a standard spring bar. But, the bar is hidden inside the buckle itself, so it’s a little hard to get to. You slide the spring bar tool into the small gap where the leather goes into the buckle. Then, apply gentle pressure with your spring bar tool from the outside the leather toward the center of the band while pulling gently the leather out of the clasp. With a little practice, you will compress the spring bar and be able to pull that side of the bar out of the clasp. Repeat on the other side of the buckle to remove the clasp completely. It’s a little hard to describe in words (probably should make a video). But, it only takes a few minutes once you get the hang of it.

For the replacement, I went to Arrow and Board. They have buckles in that same oval style that come in several colors, including black and gold.

Now that you’ve pointed that out, i do see the spring bar. I wonder if i can use the buckle on those woven nylons. I have a donor band that has a black buckle. Anyways, thank you for the tips. Now i know which tool to use and hopefully i can go from there.

I have not had any luck with a woven nylon buckle so far. Either it doesn’t use a spring bar, or the band is also glued into the buckle. I tried the same technique to remove the black buckle on one of my woven nylons but all I managed to do was start pulling part of the band out of the clasp without finding any sign of the spring bar. Decided to stop rather than destroy the band (which is what looked like would happen if I kept going).

Let me know if you end up having success with a woven nylon buckle. I am looking around for a really used one on Mercari that I can pick up for under $10 to experiment with.

What are people talking about with 'Chargie' ?

Is that an eBay reseller? a brand manufacturer? lol
It’s the eBay seller Chargerstore. The store sells many discontinued bands along with the occasional prototype band. The theory is that the seller is someone in the factory that makes many of the bands and he is selling factory rejects due to some minor imperfection (this also explains how he has access to prototypes). Most of his bands come without a retail box. He does occasionally get unsold retail stock and also some used bands. Generally, though this is the place to go if you are looking for a discontinued band. He ships quickly and the bands are almost always exactly as described (though his characterization of the Saddle Brown I just bought as “like new” was a bit of a stretch). Many of us here have bought from him several times over and been very happy.

Love it! Sooo happy to see them all in one place! And that Union Jack looks lovely. Gonna need to get me one international band for every country I’ve visited!

Im thinking I’ll have to launch a new space program to touch on your past missions, but with my own return payloads in mind. With your full permissions, of course!

DAMN! That's impressive.

I wonder how much all of that is worth. 🤔
