Judging from your model number of A1714, I wouldn't say you've been screwed. The main reason you can get these docks so cheaply on eBay is that Apple firesold a TON of them (somehow) when they tweaked the puck design with the s4. The mold sucks, but it's probably been in storage for at least 3 years now, possibly in poor conditions. I don't doubt it's new- I think most of them are.

The old dock style still works with the s4 and above, but you'll notice it slides around a little bit more since the bottom of the HR sensor is a little more convex.

I didn't know that the docks had a model change! How will you suggest I deep clean the dock? Not sure if rubbing alcohol works on possible invisible mold spores especially on the microfibre side.

Dock aside I have enough woven nylons new that a brand new sealed woven nylon being filmsy and soft is extremely suspect, but I can't tell that it has been unsealed before or if that it has been worn before, just soft.

Anyone purchased a woven nylon brand new in box received them soft instead of the usual firmness? This was the original (first) black one.

For mold put the dock out in the sun for a couple hours then flip and let sit for a couple more hours on the other side. All the spores will be dead.

Yes I’ve gotten soft ones new in box before. I doubt it’s been used, you can tell pretty easily with the wovens if they’ve been used.

Stop, please! I have identified the concept of "Edition complete", and it's primarily the unobtanium S0 gold Edition that is letting me keep it as a a concept.

I definitely haven't considered a "realistic Edition complete" status and I do not need two more old model white ceramics, nor two Titanium ones (especially when I don't even like one of those).
